Due to the nature of live sports programming the ratings for ABC, & FOX (NASCAR, & College Football) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers. To further complicate matters, NASCAR's start was weather delayed, and both sports programs started before primetime. See below for more information on these Fast Affiliate Ratings.
ABC was number one last night with adults 18-49 and total viewers.
On ABC, NASCAR scored a preliminary 1.3 adults 18-49 rating.
On FOX, Saturday Night College Football scored a preliminary 1.2 adults 18-49 rating.
ON CBS, reruns replaced scheduled U.S. Open Tennis, which was postponed due to bad weather.

Definitions:
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)
Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

9:00 CBS should be NCIS Los Angeles
Watched the Pirate game on ROOT sports (real nail biter)
Grandparents Day @ PNC Park Today–c’mon guys, make Pap Pap Happy
Figured NASCAR would beat college FB this week anyway, so my choice was baseball
Would have watched the US Open, now it goes up against football today.
Surprised NASCAR did that well with all the rain.
“Surprised NASCAR did that well with all the rain.”
As noted in red, and bold, the fast affiliate NASCAR numbers are useless.
We consider whether to post live event numbers at all. Although if we stopped, people would (a) scream for them, (b) go elsewhere and get them and misinterpret them, so it’s not an obvious choice.
NCIS: Los Angelkes
NCIS: Los Angelkes
NCIS: Los Angelkes
If they’re going to go elsewhere to misinterpret them, then it is an obvious choice. You hold onto as many pageviews as possible and post the live ratings to confuse the hell out of the readership. (at least those of us who aren’t aware of the few people who actually circulate Saturday finals)
@Bill
are we going to have a poll for tomorrow’s the premier of thevoice?
@Hope ,
If we get a poll , would like to see 2 questions, 1st the numbers for the voice and who will pull a bigger audience when FOX and NBC reality shows go head to head
BTW ,, Monday is an intense night ,

++
8 – 10
FOX , MasterChef & Hell’s Kitchen , go Christina Ha
CBS , here in the Bay Area has Raiders vs Chargers
ABC , Bachelor Pad , Nothing like watching a show that looks like it was cast with Porn Stars
NBC , The Voice Auditions , Thank God ! they have Auditions Monday , Tuesday and Wednesday so it does not drag out over a month + !
@Joseph,
I think the second one could leave to Tuesday afternoon
Although the numbers are still preliminary, it’s noticeable that FOX’s ratings for college football improved significantly from last week. Granted, they weren’t going against ESPN/ABC’s college football, but they also had a much more competitive game on this week with UCLA/Nebraska that went down to the wire. I still think they will trail ESPN/ABC this season, and they will probably get crushed by CBS when they air their couple of SEC games in prime time. But then again FOX will have the NLCS and World Series come October.
Granted, they weren’t going against ESPN/ABC’s college football
I don’t know if these were good matchups, but FOX did have competition.
ESPN had Washington at LSU
ESPN2 had Georgia at Missouri
plus Versus had Army at SD State
Next week, ABC has Notre Dame at Michigan State and FOX has USC at Stanford.
And the NASCAR didn’t even end until after 130am ET……
OMG I SAW THE BORN THIS WAY BALL IN LONDON 8TH SEPTEMBER WOW!
It’s fall already. I’m sure we’re going to get a lot of polls.
Like this:
Mon- The Voice &New Normal premieres, MC & HK finales
Tue- Go On/TNN timeslot premieres, Parenthood season premiere, SYTYCD? finale
Wed- TXF vs. Voice, GWK premiere
Thu- Got Talent finale, Glee premiere
Sun- Weeds finale
Bill & Robert please?!
There sure were a lot of weather delays yesterday.
Anytime you see CBS fourth, you gotta relish it
@Hope, we’ll do polls for The Voice & The New Normal (probably in one post)tomorrow.
Comparing apple to oranges. What about college football on NBC, ABC, CBS, and ESPN 123? I like NASCAR make no mistake football is King.
I really don’t think these ratings mean much.
I really don’t think these ratings mean much.
Because, half of a football game is commercials.
Are people really just sitting through the football commercials?
Today (Sunday) I watched some football, but I also watched a bunch of tennis and golf. Football is plagued with commercials!!!
Everytime there was a commercial I flipped to the tennis and golf.
How do your ratings account for someone like me.
