Due to the nature of live sports programming the ratings for CBS (US Open Overrun)  are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers. See below for more information on these Fast Affiliate Ratings.

Note: Both of last night’s Monday Night Football games were simulcast on the CBS affiliate in the teams’ local markets (Baltimore, Cincinnati, Oakland and San Diego). As a result, CBS numbers may be a bit inflated and subject to more than typical adjustments in the finals.

NBC was #1 with adults 18-49 and total viewers

On NBC, the two-hour premiere  of  The Voice scored a 4.1 adults 18-49 rating, down -39% from last season's time period premiere on Monday 2/6/12 (6.7/17) and is its lowest-rated premiere. The premiere of The New Normal garnered a 2.5 18-49 rating. Your predictions were about right.

On FOX, the finale of Hell's Kitchen earned a 2.5, down a tenth from last week's 2.6 rating. The finale of MasterChef was also down a tenth, earning a 2.6 after last week's 2.7 adults 18-49 rating

On ABC, Bachelor Pad  earned a 1.3, down a tenth from last week's 1.4 adults 18-49 rating.

On The CW, The LA Complex  matched  last week's 0.3 adults 18-49 rating.

Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    @Ultima
I suspect Joseph is expecting a rise in the third hour of WWE Raw because one of the shows lead commentators had a heart attack live on air at end of the second hour.

  • Suzy

My TV Guide for this week had The New Normal starting on Tuesday, not Monday, and a friend happened to call and ask if I was watching it. Otherwise I would have missed the first show! Actually I wouldn’t have missed much. I thought it was supposed to be a comedy? It wasn’t funny.

  • Allen

I will LOL if Community/Grimm/Whitney trio get renewed while AP and New Normal flop.

    What is ‘AP’

This is too low even for TV!

Chris Rene is a star his song is on the radio all the time. Melanies album cones out in December so you can’t really judge how she’s doing yet.

I think Mariah will bring the biggest ratings because she’s just crazy enough. If she brings her ice cream truck with her it will be rating gold

  • Hubert

Yeah, so the slow summer is over :-D

4.1 is what i expected for the voice once the competition is back, not this early o.O 3.2 at 8 pm can be easilly beatten by how i met your mother and dwts will not be much lower. 4.7 at 9:30 seems unbeatible for other nets. 2 broke girls will tie or beat the 9 pm halfhour of the voice, too. So i am really curious which net will win the night?

  • Kevinusa USAForever

Wow, The Voice lost almost half it’s ratings and that with no competition. CBS is so going to win the Demo this season.

  • Person of Interest – TV’S #1 NEW DRAMA

@Yeah, so the slow summer is over

    9 pages, so yea.

Still 2 weeks before oficial kick-off. More people will watch tv than. And yes competition will be bigger. But the voice and now so early was with a lot of competition. Even tennis was a niy unexpected.

  • TVDude

I don’t know, yes, there was a lack of competition, but there was a lack of overall viewers on the broadcast networks. It will ultimately depend on how many crossover viewers are watching The Voice. Viewer counts should go up over all as the season starts, albeit, The Voice is bound to go down. I don’t see The Voice going out of the 3ish range, at least for the fall.

Would NBC like it to be better? Sure, what network wouldn’t like its ratings to be better? If CBS didn’t want better ratings, they wouldn’t cancel any shows and bring in new ones. Will the show still keep the network float? Probably.

  • Jon23812

I think the lowest X Factor will get is a 5.6, and the highest will be 6.2.

  • Nadine

Saw The New Normal pilot on Hulu. It was adorable. Not perfect, occasionally preachy and definitely unrealistic, but funny, definitely funny. And the main actors are delightful. Ellen Barkin alone is worth watching the show for. It’s pretty frank. I liked that. I will keep watching.

  • Nadine

I thought Go On was the best network show I’ve seen in a while. A definite winner, from my point of view. Not the same old thing, very entertaining and I simply loved Matthew Perry, who gives it everything. (To be fair, I almost always DO love Matthew Perry.)

Are we still living in 1999? Britney Spears VS. Christina Aguilera war comments lol…

    Some people never mature.

  • Nadine

Just read several comments that claimed The New Normal was a failure. What? Are we reading the same article? Sounds like a few people are sullenly wishing it were a failure. But so far, sadly for you, it’s doing well.

  • Person of Interest – TV’S #1 NEW DRAMA

Am i good or what? If i continue this way, expect TV by the numbers to start pay me for this.(smile)

“In my opinion – the voice will be around 4.5 and new normal around 2.5.”

  • SarahL

I think both The Voice and The New Normal did well.

  • JettaJameson

I only have time for one music competition series in my life. That is obviously Britney Spears and The X-Factor. I can’t take another season of Christina Agiilera. Give me Britney!!!

  • Kenny

New Normal did just fine, although i really think NBC should of aired a repeat of one the returning shows instead of Go On

  • maya

the voice did well not bad any show dreams to have these ratings
