Breaking: Major Solyndra Figure in DoE Defies House Subpoena, Refuses to Testify

Got to hide the truth about Obama’s pay-to-play scheme that caused a half a billion dollar loss to the taxpayers.

Rep. Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, issued a statement Wednesday afternoon regarding the testimony of Morgan Wright. Wright is the Obama administration’s Director of Strategic Initiatives in the Department of Energy. According to Issa’s statement, Wright has refused to appear for a subpoena in the investigation into Solyndra, the failed “green” tech company that lost more than half a billion taxpayer dollars in the form of a government-backed loan approved by the Obama administration.

“The decision of this key figure in the Solyndra scandal to ignore his legal obligation to appear for a deposition is unprecedented and regrettable. This reflects poorly on not only Mr. Wright’s character, but also on Secretary of Energy Chu and other employees who worked on matters related to the loan program,’ said Chairman Issa.

“This refusal to appear as ordered by a lawful subpoena only adds to the perception of wrongdoing and attempts to hide what really happened in the loan program office. Taxpayers will likely lose billions on the Obama Administration’s ill-conceived loan guarantee program and the appearance of cronyism only enhances the need for answers.

Just another day for the obumbles administration of deny and stonewall.

    QE3 won’t create jobs

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — The Federal Reserve’s policymaking committee is meeting for the next two days, and it is widely expected to announce a third round of quantitative easing, known as QE3.

But even if the Fed launches that third bond-buying spree, it is unlikely to have a major positive effect on the economy.

At this point, the Fed’s power pales in comparison to the potential impact Congress could have by addressing fiscal cliff fears, said Dean Croushore, an economics professor at the University of Richmond and a former Fed economist.

“Businesses are not hesitant to invest and hire because interest rates are too high — they’re hesitant because of the uncertainty surrounding their future prospects,” he said

Bad News for Obama: Hiring Survey Says Few Companies Plan to Hire New Employees Over Next 3 Months

A survey to be released today finds few employers are planning to hire during the fourth quarter, another blow to President Obama, whose re-election may hinge on whether the economy improves before Election Day.

“Between the uncertainty in the global economy and the uncertainty of the election, the survey results are really not surprising,” said Susan Fontana, regional vice president at ManpowerGroup, the global staffing agency that interviewed more than 18,000 employers nationwide for the survey. “In an election year, we see more of a stalling pattern. Then businesses start to move forward with their plans.”

Of the more than 140 employers interviewed in Greater Boston, only 13 percent said they plan to hire more employees in the next three months, while 7 percent expect to reduce staff. That’s a net employment outlook of 6 percent — less than half the 13 percent in the current quarter and lower than the 9 percent fourth-quarter outlook a year ago.

Hobby Lobby Sues Obama’s HHS over Forced Morning-After Pill Coverage

    By TIM TALLEY

    The Associated Press

    OKLAHOMA CITY —
Christian-oriented Hobby Lobby Stores Inc. filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday challenging a mandate in the nation’s health care overhaul law that requires employers to provide coverage for the morning-after pill and similar drugs.

The lawsuit by the Oklahoma City-based chain claims the government mandate is forcing the company’s owners “to violate their deeply held religious beliefs under threat of heavy fines, penalties and lawsuits.” Failure to provide the drugs in the company’s health insurance plan could lead to fines of up to $1.3 million a day, the company said.

“By being required to make a choice between sacrificing our faith or paying millions of dollars in fines, we essentially must choose which poison pill to swallow,” David Green, Hobby Lobby CEO and founder, said in a statement. “We simply cannot abandon our religious beliefs to comply with this mandate.”

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Oklahoma City, alleges the Health and Human Services mandate is unconstitutional and requests an injunction to prohibit it from being enforced. Hobby Lobby is self-insured and will be required to comply with the mandate by Jan. 1, the start of its health insurance plan year.

Obama Regime Buying Senate Seat with More Crony Energy Loans (Think Solyndra)

Worse Than Solyndra: Obama Admin Buying Maine Senate Seat with Crony Energy Loans

Here’s the short story: Angus King, former governor of Maine, Obama supporter, and front-running independent Senate candidate, owned a wind company. Obama’s Department of Energy handed over a deeply questionable $102 million loan to that company. It appears that as that company was coming under investigation, King quickly divested himself of his interests, hoping he was doing so just in time to escape scrutiny, and as he was preparing to announce his candidacy for Senate.

But that’s not where the story ends. It seems that before he left the company, King helped apply for a Department of Energy grant worth some $33 million. Which means one of two things: either the company was thriving, in which case King was helping bilk taxpayers for an additional $33 million; or the company was having financial difficulties, in which case the $33 million grant was designed to help cover the cost of the loans, $23 million of which was coming due with a maturity date of April 27, 2012.

Either way, the situation doesn’t look good for King, or the Obama Administration. Either the two were working to ensure that King’s company got paid millions so that King could reap the benefits, or they were working to cover up a troubled company and highly questionable investment subsidized with federal tax money.
