“It’s so rare, especially in the current fragmented environment, to see a show grow into its fifth season,” said John Landgraf, President and General Manager, FX Networks.  “The fact that the season 5 premiere episode is also likely to become FX’s highest rated telecast of all time is a testament to the quality of work Kurt Sutter, the writers, directors, cast and crew have done on this extraordinarily ambitious and riveting drama.”

On a Live+Same Day or Live only basis, last night’s telecast of SOA ranked as FX’s most-watched telecast in its 18-year history in delivery of Men 18-49 (2.15 million) and Men 18-34 (1.18 million).

Previous high ratings (Live+Same Day) for a single episode of Sons Of Anarchy were 4.93 million Total Viewers and 3.22 million Adults 18-49, both for the season 4 premiere telecast (9/6/11).

FX has ordered 13 episodes for the fifth season which will air Tuesdays at 10 PM ET/PT. In next Tuesday’s second episode, “Authority Vested” (Sept. 18), Jax and SAMCRO are challenged as past sins resurface. (Written by Regina Corrado; directed by Peter Weller).

Sons Of Anarchy was created by Kurt Sutter, and is executive produced by Sutter, Paris Barclay John Linson, and Art Linson.  The series is produced by Fox 21 and FX Productions.

Sons Of Anarchy is an adrenalized drama with darkly comedic undertones that explores a notorious outlaw motorcycle club’s (MC) desire to protect its livelihood while ensuring that their simple, sheltered town of Charming, California remains exactly that, Charming. The MC must confront threats from drug dealers, corporate developers, and overzealous law officers.  Behind the MC’s familial lifestyle and legally thriving automotive shop is a ruthless and illegally thriving arms business. The seduction of money, power, and blood.

  • Pierre

    WOAH!

Well deserved that episode was so good last night. For a first episode of the season it was too damn good. The slow build up in season 3 is the reason why season 5 is going to end up being their best season. Kurt Sutter you’re a God bro.

That’s why Parenthood’s numbers are more legit than The New Normal because Parenthood actually had good competition from SOA.

  • Clare

Best season ever!! I love SOA!!!

  • iFool

The best show since The Wire left the air and this season is already proving it.

  • Wow

I guess this small percent of the population that watchs Son’s of Anarchy are the same small percent that watch child porn. On Sept 11 2012 a TV show that supports & pays real gang members from the USA hells angels known from decades of crimes against women & children.
Sad 11 years later now gangsters are taking September 11 for their own

  • angel

CONGRAULATIONS!! Last nights show was awesome! Props to Kim Coates for an incredible scene. You did it again Sutter…WTG!!

  • The End

    @Wow

Please tell me you’re trolling, there’s no way someone could seriously think people who watch this show support that stuff. People watch this show because it’s entertaining, leave the real life stuff out of it.

It’s just a TV show. Nothing more, nothing less.

  • PAula

  • Karla

What a great way to start the new season…………There are alot of things that can go either way this season.

Wow/It is a TV Show and there are far bigger things to troll around and worry about than a TV show. Try it you may become useful.

  • Winks

Now I want to join a MC. Seriously Kurt, the show is amazing. I can’t wait to watch it every week. Job well done!

  • caseyd

Wow, its not a small percent.
I am with you on this.
More hate, violence and atrocities in the consciousness of america for a buck is not what our world needs.

  • caseyd

    Its entertainment.
But what ugly entertainment, and yet,it warms the heart of many a large group of people.
Burning someones child alive, beating women, or sex objects as shown on this show, extreme violence on a constant basis and worshipping the actors who do this– makes me fearful of the minds who create and laugh at it.
Sorry guys, I know the fans are fearce about this show, but allow another opinion please.
