   It now appears that warnings came as early Sept 4th.

   *Egypt intelligence warns of attacks on Israel, US embassies

   By JPOST.COM STAFF

   09/11/2012

   Egypt’s General Intelligence Service warned that a jihadi group is planning to launch terrorist attacks against the US and Israeli embassies in Cairo, according to a report Tuesday by Egypt Independent, citing a secret letter obtained by Al-Masry Al-Youm.

   According to the report, the attack is being planned by Global Jihad, the group suspected of killing 16 Egyptian border guards in Sinai on August 5.

   Al-Masry Al-Youm reportedly obtained a copy of the September 4 letter, sent to all Egyptian security sectors, warning that Sinai- and Gaza-based Global Jihad cells were planning attacks on the two embassies.

   Egypt’s military is engaged in an ongoing campaign to root out Sinai-based terrorists.

   (Write your elected officals, both left and right and demand an invesigation now.)

   FYI…

   Egypt was designated as a Major Non-NATO Ally in 1989 when Congress first passed the law creating that status, which gives them special privileges in cooperating with the United States, especially in the security and technology arenas.

   I think it’s time to reassess that

   DB,
   When you get some free time familiarize yourself with the US Constitution which states “……. may be impeached and removed only for treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors”.

   Assuming the 48 hours of warning is true,and thus far it is a single story that appears singularly sourced and also has contradictions within it like the embassy security being put through drills, and there was a failure. This would NEVER reach the level of impeachment as incompetence is not an impeachable crime.

   It wasn’t in 2001 with 9/11, it wasn’t with Beruit in the 80′s or Iran in the 70′s, or Pearl Harbor in the 40′s.

   Get a grip on something close to reality.

    If Romney has held his powder for 24 hours I would say tomorrow would have been the perfect time to start piling on. As of now politically it is probably best to let his surrogates put their toes in the water, see what becomes of it, and then pounce himself.

    I know many feel that way, but myself and many feel like the statements coming out were amateurish and not appropriate. Personally, just MO maybe on here, I am glad Romney came out quickly. It was no different, to me at least than when Sen. Obama came out 1 hour after the announced troop surge and blasted it.

    Romney was appalled as many that that kind of Statement would be issued. And if Romney would have said nothing? The MSM, would have said, Hey Mitt? Why no Statement, why are you avoiding this issue?

    Also, now that many stories are coming out that days’ notice was giving to the State Dept., where is the MSM asking about that? Anyway I see Jeff is mentioning Cheeseburgers and now he has made me hungry I can’t think straight, THANKS JEFF

    I’m beginning to think the radical islamists are trying to influence our election by spoiling the promise of the Arab Spring,,which was suppose to result in buding democracies around the middle east..Maybe they feel it might be more difficult recruiting and gaining influence with Pres Obama in a second term,,rather than a rich white Mormon Republican,,who would be much easier to demonize as the leader of the Great Satan..The ambassador they targeted was incredible respected around the middle east and spent his entire career reaching out to the Muslim World,,someone very dangerous to their cause…Maybe the Islamists fear while Pres Obama is quietly picking off their leaders with drones,,he would be much more popular in the Muslim World than a Pres. Romney…

    Steve just for further context the majority of The Muslim Brotherhood’s statement reads:

    “Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood in a statement demanded legal action against those behind the film.

    “[H]urting the feelings of one and a half billion Muslims cannot be tolerated, and the people’s anger and fury for their faith is invariably predictable, often unstoppable,” it said, calling for “assaults on the sanctities of all heavenly religions” to be criminalized.
    Otherwise, such acts will continue to cause devout Muslims across the world to suspect and even loathe the West, especially the USA, for allowing their citizens to violate the sanctity of what they hold dear and holy. Hence, we demand that all those involved in such crimes be urgently brought to trial.”

    It is a passive aggressive statement that appears to have no understanding of our Freedom of Speech even hate speech.
