What happened to both days and gh. I watched both of them last week and i enjoyed both of them very much. GH did move into 2nd place above b&b I’m not sure that it means anything since both of them dropped last week.

This week i have only watched days because of gh time change. I did record gh but i haven’t watched it. I know it sounds strange but for me it is hard to make time to wathc what is on my DVR but i always make time for the when i watch shows at the scheduled time on tv.

GH is up this week with the time change.

Days playing for that all important demo, and they’re at an all time low.

It’s all about the following with GH’s new timeslot, DAYS competition against GH, and Ridge’s final episodes on B&B.

Next week is going to be a great week for Y&R and B&B, these promos look great!

How do you know gh is up this week? I didn’t think those ratings were posted until next week.

  • Nikita

Damn Y&R and B&B do look good next week, will definitely be watching.

Stacy, The dailies have been release and GH has had a 2.3 avergae in the dailies which is the big markets. The dailies that are release are about 70% of the Nielsen homes. So from those GH has done well this week. But the final ratings could go up or down some for both it and Katie.

The key will be is if GH can hold on to it without all the promotion it has gotten from ABC and now that this big storyline and location shoot is over.

Many are still blaming this on Labor Day but if it had been Labor Day all the soaps would have dropped and they didn’t.

GH got a big boost the week before due to the big Duke cliffhanger and then they dropped. Then after Labor Day things were building and GH had normal ratings and then Friday when things started to peak the ratings went up.

Even this week from the dailies they have dropped each day. All the way from a 2.5 on Monday to a 2.2 by Thursday.

If they do like Days and lose all they gained from the stunt story then what have they gained — nothing.

Days is already back down to where they were the last week they aired before the Olympics.

As I said in the other thread this has been the pattern for both Days and GH for years. They do these big stunts and get higher ratings and then the people tune back out because the daily stuff just don’t hold their interest.

yeah, DAYS was pretty dull last week, I know I didn’t watch .. Sami just bounces from EJ to Rafe to Lucas, pleasing NO fanbase. Not thrilled about Jennifer getting with Dr. Perv again. The only couple I like right now is Chad&Melanie. I watched their engagement episodes this week. As for GH, WOW, it was ON FIRE this week! Ratings will show a huge improvement next Friday, and deservedly so! I hope they can keep up the momentum, because I thoroughly enjoyed it this week (but not last week, can’t even remember what happened)

  • Richard

Diana, On one site they refer to Days as the Days of Sami’s Va**na. They don’t seem to be enjoying it either. LOL

DAYS definitely has been pretty dull lately and its disappointing because the show was good a few weeks back after the Olympics. I have no idea what this show is going to do without Melanie.

GH yes definitely on fire this week, can’t wait to see the numbers next week.

The CBS soaps look good next week.

GH is horrid with obnoxious annoying people, Thank god I only get stuck watching once in awhile when visiting my cousin and her husband where I pay more attention to their 2 month old daughter.

GO dool you rock and always will

I’m worried about Y&R in the long run. Next week’s promo does look good, but the plots lately have been all over the place. I also just read JFP is cleaning house and has already gotten rid of Marcy Rylan, Genie Francis, Debbi Morgan and Christel Khalil. I liked those actresses but not their characters – I think JFP should have kept them because with better writing the characters could have flourished. I am especially going to miss Marcy Rylan – I think she is a really talented actress with great comedic timing and killer good looks to boot.

I will never understand some of the soap fans out there. They bash anyone who says anything at all bad about a soap opera. Or they bash anyone who says anything good about The Chew or GAA or The Revolution.

But then they turn around and admit they watch The Talk and enjoy it. Do they not remember that The Talk replaced a soap opera too.

Or they brag about The Today Show and esp. the Kathie Lee/Hoda hour which also replaced a soap opera.

Or they talk about their favorite talk show and glad that it is doing so well. Do they not realize that if talk shows keep doing so well in the ratings then your just going to get more of them.

Just read a comment from a big soap fan on another board I read from time to time. This person loves to throw out the “HATER” title and how you are not a loyal and true fan if you don’t watch no matter what.

She bashes any soap fan who even thinks about watching Katie because it replaced GH. But yet she makes this big posts and big deal over Steve Harvey and how we need more talk shows like his. Does she not realize that it is Steve Harvey that is actually airing in some areas in GH’s timeslot.

For instance here it is what took GH’s place. Katie airs on the NBC affiliate.

It’s funny when some throw out that loyalty and hater crap — sometimes you end being the one you should be preaching to.

Like I said last week, the DAYSaster effect has officially worn off. I watched some of Days this week and last week, and the only thing that held my interest is the Will/Sonny storyline. But, Days is still losing viewers, especially since the past 2 weeks, 50% of their viewer loss has been in the 18-49 demographic. They CANNOT keep trending like this, or they will be cancelled in 2013.

I completely lost interest in GH. The storyline moved way too slow for me. The story heated back up again, but I didn’t care, really. They’ve got to learn how to resolve stories like these, though. GH will go up next week, which is good, but the true question is will it be able to hold on to these ratings. That is what is going to determine whether GH stays on the air, not stronger ratings during a stunt story that go back down.

We know that B&B is just the same love triangle all day, and especially with a big time actor leaving this week, they could go down next week.

Y&R could go down with the firings of Genie Francis and Debbi Morgan. Some people might have tuned in for them, and now not have a reason to tune in.

The fall is going to be very interesting, not only for soaps, but for all of daytime television.

While I will miss Marcy on Y&R, I am no sad for her. As you said, she is very talented with great comedic timing, and some smart sitcom producer should give her some serious consideration. They still have not cast a mother for HIMYM or a girlfriend for Raj on TBBT. I could see Marcy’s doing really well in either role.

I mentioned this last week. You’ll continue to see these stupid stunt stories just to get a ratings boost. Daysasters, GH Toxins, and I guess MAB was fired so JFP could do some Clear Springs stories now that she’s at the helm. They don’t do anything to permanently grow their audience.

GH was averaging a 2.3 this week, but it won’t hold. (next week’s posted ratings)

I’m hoping that all four shows last, but it won’t happen with action/plot driven stories.

  • Justin121

As long as B&B is steady I’m a happy camper.

I hope it would still be #2, though.

Can’t believe Ridge is leaving :'(

  • Melissa

It ashame that people have to bash other soaps to support there’s I’m talking about some fans of all soaps they will down talk days to support GH ,or down talk B&b to support Y&R I’m ready to leave all my soaps Facebook, soap central.com I’m Disappointed at what I read on these forums , Wasn’t the point of these forums to support all soaps so we don’t loose the Last 4,we have left not bash one to support another.

  • Whirlybird

I’m bored about Will being gay, dumb for him, he’s too cute to go for boys. Rave needs to throw Sammie on the bed rip her clothes off and get her all worked up then get up and walk out on her then go sleep w Nicole openly.

  • Sean Austin

Hardly worried if I am Days. Who do they have coming back soon? Just Eric Brady and Kristin/Susan. Who plays those two roles? Two very awesome actor/actress. If Days has any common sense in the writing department (which I seriously question) they will be #2 by this time next year. With all the talent there’s no reason not to!
