Thursday Final Ratings: 'Glee' Adjusted Down, No 18-49 Adjustment for 'The X-Factor'

Glee was adjusted down two tenths of a ratings point vs  the preliminary Thursday broadcast ratings. The X Factor was not adjusted from the fast national ratings, however earlier we reported that X Factor had been adjusted up a tenth in time zone adjusted fast nationals. Unfortunately, those numbers still included the NFL game preemption which was stripped out in the finals.

    Now let’s just hope Glee can maintain the 3.0 zone.

    Good repeat numbers for Vampire Diaries. Can’t wait for season 4, curious how the ratings for season 4 will compare to other seasons. The trend seems to be dropping a few 0.1′s for the season average each season.

    I’m more interested in how last nights new ‘bonus’ episode of Touch did than how any old singing competition did, Glee’s been in trouble for a while now, lost quite a fair bit of its former popularity.

    Idiots who make this about Britney Vs. Xtina

    Britney is the bigger star, of course. Locally and internationally. She’s an icon, too, which Xtina isn’t.

    However, here at TVByTheNumbers, none of the above matters. The Voice is a bigger hit than The X Factor. The X Factor failed to meet expectations two years in a row. The Voice exceeded expectations, and is the hot thing right now.

    That all that matters. Not Xtian Vs. Britney. Not album sales. Not the number of tickets sold or Grammys won.

    Nielsen RATINGS is what matter here at, you know, TV-by-the-N U M B E R S!

    @Justin121

    You must be kidding when you say that Glee will be cancelled by the end of the season. There is no doubt in my mind that Fox will at least renew it for a final season.

    @Kevin Somerhalder

    Yes after what happened at the end of the TVD finale, I think the whole audience, if not more would be interested to come back to the season premiere.

    @Bluejays, well that is why I feel the move of Two and A Half Men to Thursday may be a temporary one. I can see changes at midseason. Two and A Half Men will be needed back on Monday to help the night. CBS should try the new comedy on Thursday. How I Met Your Mother should really end this season. I can see this for awhile come midseason

    Monday
    8pm Two & A Half Men
    8:30 Rules of Engagement
    9pm Two Broke Girls
    9:30pm Mike & Molly

    Then I would have How I Met Your Mother return at the end of March to finish its final episodes.

  • Justin121

    I don’t see CBS moving 2.5 Men back unless two or more Monday sitcoms fall below 3.0.

    With Partners, Broke Girls, and Mike & Molly, I think that is very likely.

    2 Broke Girls is way too unestablished to anchor a night of even more unproven comedies.

    Partners is being negatively recieved but they really can’t afford it to be dead on arrival, because what’s left on the night isn’t strong enough.

    M&M is the 5th CBS sitcom (out of 6) and it has spent its entire run behind the protection of TAAHM.

    HIMYM only became very strong this past year, and you could argue that 2BG became the hit it was because it was sandwitched between HIMYM and 2.5 Men.

    So, while Thursdays wil probably be CBS’ biggest night, ironically, Mondays will be their biggest concern (ironically because what is making Thursdays big are two Monday exports).

    @Debbie I agree. You don’t need working brain cells to figure out exactly how Rachel’s storyline will play out. It’s that predictable and predictable is not interesting. And the whole whiney “why doesn’t anyone like me even though I’m soooo much more talented than them” is old. Would rather watch any of the other characters than re-watch the same Rachel crying yet again. That is, if I still had any interest in watching what is now The Rachel Berry cries hour.

    I always has the feeling that moving Glee to Thrusday at 8 was a bad move by FOX. When POI and the rest of the CBS lineup and Greys return with new episodes Glee will fall even more. I don’t think it will become a Terra Nova for FOX, but it will cause sleepless night for some execitives.

    Yeeaaahhh Boooooyyyyy! The X Factor is a FLOP! FLOP! FLOP! FLOP! The Voice is spanking Flop Factor, and Britney can’t even hold Xtina’s butless chaps! Just wait till…

    Oops. Sorry about that. While a lot of stans are going crazy over the Voice/X Factor matchup, the reality is both shows have to go up against other network programs which haven’t even premiered yet. Sure, The Voice did some great debut numbers for its season premiere, but we haven’t seen the premiere of the All-Star Dancing With The Stars yet nor have the Monday CBS comedies premiered either. I think The Voice will do just fine, but it probably will have some of its numbers eaten into by said programs.

    As for The X Factor, the ratings have been a big disappointment for FOX, but then again they have nothing better to replace it with, and it’s still pulling in bigger numbers than anything they ran in that spot previously to that (Human Target, Lie To Me, Bones). Having said that, they have to go up against Survivor and Criminal Minds on CBS and the ABC comedy block on Wednesday night and TBBT/2.5 Men on Thursday night, so we’ll have to wait and see if those numbers drop any further.

    In the end, though, both shows could be bringing each other down due to talent show fatigue, which bodes pretty badly for American Idol next January, even with Mariah Carey signed on.

    Thursday Final Averages

    Million Viewers = 5.47 Million Viewers
    18-49 Demo Average = 1.5 Average

  • Person of Interest – TV’S #1 NEW DRAMA

    @MJDB

    What does that mean? low, good, great?

  • Riff Rafferty

    The FOX execs are supposedly already in a panic over “X Factor.” Well, good. Serves them right. The show was a mess from top to bottom in Season 1 and nearly gave me a seizure just trying to watch it, but I was willing to stick it out through its growing pains for Paula. Keeping L.A. Reid and getting rid of her was the complete and total nail in the coffin for me. I would accept Babyface. I would even accept that other dude from The Deele with the gorilla chest who looked like he had Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. But L.A. Reid, forget it. The fact that he didn’t get sacked when he was hands down the worst thing about the show is a testament to politics.

  • Nick

    The fact that Britney helped make a show with terrible reviews competitive demo wise matching The Voice in the end and beating the AGT finale demo wise shows how unrealistic some people are. If Nicole and Paula were still on the show it would have been lucky to get a 2.0 demo in direct competition with the Voice let alone a 3.4. They went to Britney to try and resuscitate a pig for a reason. One person can only do so much.

  • Joseph

    Very few persons in the country are watching XFactor , BUT , I did read a few articles about the show ,
    ++
    For those that are watching and fans , what is your take on the producers going out of their way to search out contestants that have strange obsessions with Brittany that cross over to the realm of stalker and dangerous?

  • jamie

    @Justin121 LOL at Christina “not being an icon”. Funniest thing I’ve heard all day! You Britney stans are a riot!

  • Kaylie

    Glee’s season premiere was actually enjoyable. The new cast was great. Its like watching the freshness from season 1 all over again.

  • Kaylie

    @bluejay72 Its true. She has never been on top. Why deny that?

  • Sam

    Aguilera isn’t an icon. She hasn’t had a hit in like 10 years!
