Friday's Ratings Via TV Media Insights

NOTE: All ratings are "live plus same day" from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise indicated.

Definitions:

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.  More information on ratings is available here.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    @Amy

    ANTM did not beat Touch. Read carefully. They had the same demo and Touch’s overall viewership was far bigger than ANTM’s.

  • John A

    @Greg Touch matching ANTM in demo isnt embarrasing at all lol

  • forg

    Yay Shark Tank! The little show that could. I hope Last Man and Malibu Country will find an audience here especially how ABC is doing fine on this night

  • GARebelman

    FOX’s 18-49 winner crown is in trouble when NBC repeats do better than FOX originals. The Touch/Fringe pairing is going to be disturbing it seems.

  • Tessa

    Moving ANTM to Friday might have been a good move on CW’s part. The hour isn’t that competitive really. Seeing it improve its ratings against a new episode of Shark Tank could mean it has a chance to survive.

  • forg

    ANTM is doing fine on this night for CW, who knows maybe it could stretch itself to 1.0 as the season goes along

    “FOX’s 18-49 winner crown is in trouble when NBC repeats do better than FOX originals. The Touch/Fringe pairing is going to be disturbing it seems.”

    FOX’s “crown” is in more than just “trouble”, and it has effectively nothing to do with their entertainment programming.

    @Tristan

    Is clearly Bondoel in disguise. :/

  • Brandy

    Great for Top Model!

  • Greg

    @John A

    Did I say that it wasn’t embarrasing?

  • Brian

    The ratings for Touch will be higher when season 2 premieres in late October. This should be a lesson to Fox telling them that you show season finales in the spring and not in the fall when the new seasons start again.

  • Dennis

    @Brian

    Ya it should get at least a 0.8! BAHA

    It’s gonna be fun to see FLOPKIA and Touch’s ratings when the new seasons premiere

  • Paul

    Go Ons numbers were great for Friday.

  • Oliver

    Surprised by the sudden ANTM increase. If it’s not due to pre-emptions then perhaps there’s life in the old dog yet.

    I wouldn’t read too much into an extra episode of Touch dumped onto the schedule pre-season. Don’t get me wrong, I think Touch will crash and burn, but I don’t think this particular episode proves much.

    GWK repeated better than I expected, but repeat numbers are always tricky to interpret, especially repeats of pilots, so I’m not going to read into it. I’m still convinced it will die a quick Free Agents-esque death until there’s strong evidence to the contrary.

  • bBop

    the 24 movie was delayed because of touch, makes me even more mad when i see these ratings!!!

  • Josh

    Does anyone know what yesterday’s episode of Touch was supposed to be? The guide said it was new, but it also showed season 1, episode 13. I figured it must have been some type of recap episode so I didn’t watch it.

  • Dan S

    I caught Touch last night but doubt I’ll watch season 2. This show got a pity renewal & will be lucky if Fox doesn’t pull it before it has its 13 episode order fulfilled. Looking forward to the final season of Fringe in 2 weeks but will likely get beat by Grimm.

  • Oliver

    It was a new original episode of Touch. Fox ordered 13 episodes but the show was running into summer so they only broadcast 12 at the time.

  • Dennis

    @DAN S

    Of Course GRIMM will beat FRINGE.

  • Kaylie

    Go ANTM!! Goodbye Touch. Its sad to see those numbers.
