Friday's Ratings Via TV Media Insights

NOTE: All ratings are "live plus same day" from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise indicated.

Definitions:

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.  More information on ratings is available here.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

good job for ANTM. To weeks in a row its up in the ratings. The NBC commedies repeated well too. I wonder if Fox even promoted the new episode of Touch for last night.

  • Jass

I didn’t even know Touch was even going to be on, I randomly saw a TV listing in the paper. I guess Fox blew their marketing wad on Xfactor.

  • philip

@Dennis are you really gonna criticize every weeks the nikita’s episodes (repeat) you must be a ringer or a secret circle fan, to be angry about nikita!! do you have already watch an episode? i don’t think so

  • Dennis

    @Philip

Secret Circle and Ringer were awful, and no I was not a fan….

    Nikita is craptastic aswell

  • Person of Interest – TV’S #1 NEW DRAMA

Stop talking for shows that are not on that day. Fringe is, so ok, but Supernatural was moved months ago.

Whoever whant (AGAIN) to talk for factor, go on factor day and to talk about it.

Shark Tank did really good for ABC I was actually surprised they didn’t make it a two-hour premiere. ABC has a couple of options here if Last Resort fails on Thursday they could move Shark Tank to a higher-hut level night or just leave it where it is which I think is the safer option. I was never a fan honestly of the ABC comedies airing at 8pm against the NBC comedies plus I always knew Shark Tank was the stronger show so allow Shark Tank to be LMS and Reba’s lead-in that way those two shows can receive a respectable boost at 9pm. The competition at 9pm is easier too on CBS with Made in Jersey instead of CSI: NY.

What a surprise there with Guys with Kids repeating well especially in the demo. One thing I noticed on Wednesday with Guys with Kids was that the show seemed to do a good job in the demo so this might surprisingly be a demo player for them. I’m definitely in favor of Guys with Kids moving to Fridays now it could be a small hit for them on Fridays with Whitney. Go On held up pretty well also as this show might be the real deal, I’m a lot more confident in Go On being a strong representative of their single-cams than The New Normal which I see flopping at some point later in the year.

I think we might’ve seen a glimpse of FOX’s future with Touch on Fridays. People just have not warmed up to this show. Touch will probably not be able to compete against CSI: NY either.

Top Model continues to do well for The CW, I was convinced that they should move it to cable last year but now I’m thinking they can keep it for now. Going to be interested to see how Nikita does when ti gets back.

  • Nick

The fact that Britney helped make a show with terrible reviews competitive demo wise matching The Voice in the end and beating the AGT finale demo wise shows how unrealistic some people are. If Nicole and Paula were still on the show it would have been lucky to get a 2.0 demo in direct competition with the Voice let alone a 3.4. They went to Britney to try and resuscitate a pig for a reason. One person can only do so much.

  • Michael

ANTM may just help Nikita, in the ratings department!!!

  • Dennis

..and lets face it, NIKITA needs all the help it can get

  • KS

Something tells, Mark P. got the schedule exactly right. Look at the ANTM numbers before and now.

  • Pierre

I’m really liking the way Fridays are already shaping out with some surprises. Fridays is going to be a pretty good ratings night and probably the most interesting of the entire week.

NBC comedies repeating well just made this into a whole new ballgame. Now I’m really hoping Guys with Kids moves next to Whitney on October 19th. I agree with others that ABC needs to move those comedies to 9pm.

Top Model is doing way beyond my expectations, The CW might’ve been better off starting Nikita’s new season last night.

I’m not ready to write off Touch just yet that wasn’t the actual season premiere and it was never promoted.

  • Pierre

    @ KS

Mark Pedowitz is already slowly changing that network around. He has the toughest job of any network president. He also moved LA Complex and now the show has grown. If Nikita improves this year then I’ll have to give him credit again.

  • glover

LOL at Nikita. Have a great lead in but got the same ratings of the other shows this summer on the CW. Flop!

  • John A

Oh come on Nikita got a 0.3 that isnt bad for a repeat. Can we stop with this nonsense? A new LA Complex got that on Monday.

  • Michael

Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, and Arrow are going to be the trinity of the CW network starting this fall!

  • Shaun Daily- Las Vegas

Touch was a left over episode from last season, I did not see too much promotion for this episode..

  • Ally Sheedy in WarGames

The theme of this week X Factor and Nikita haters trolling hard.

  • Joseph

Those numbers are massive for ANTM !
The fact that the retread version of the show is out pacing the major networks is a massive surprise even if some of them are in reruns !

  • philip

@Dennis ok everyone has the right to have his point of view, we will see the ratings of the new episodes (i think you hate the CW channel!! it must be that).

  • Justin121

ABC, NBC, and CW did well.
