The 2012 64th Annual Emmy Awards nominations are in.
Using my predicting, without predicting, method I use each year of simply choosing the previous year's winner (which is beginning to wobble a bit, but I'm sticking with it!) I am compelled to pick Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) to once again win for Lead Actor In A Comedy Series.
In a double poll, here's your chance to tally who you think WILL win, and who you think SHOULD win.
Feel free to explain.
The 2012 64th Annual Emmy Awards airs on ABC on September 23, 2012.

Jim Parson will win, but Alec Baldwin is always so good at acting…
Jim Parsons!! And if John Cryer wins i will scream.
Jim Parsons in both. There is no reason why he shouldn’t win again this year. BTW, and as much as I hate being this person, I have to say that this poll looses a lot of credibility when there is no Joel McHale in there. Oh well.
Jim Parsons is great, but he’s nothing compared to what Louis C.K. brings to the screen.
Will: Louis C. K.
Should Alec Baldwin (30 Rock).
Will: Louis C. K.
Should: Alec Baldwin.
Will: Alec
Should: Jim Parson
Will: Louis CK and Should Louis CK for overlooking his show in the comedy show, Louie.
Should; Loiue CK. God i hope it isn’t Jim Parsons. He deserved it the first time, but he his performance in the fourth season was way too forced and over the top, and same for this year.
Should Win: Louis C.K.
Also Worthy: Alec Baldwin, Larry David
Will Win: Louis C.K.
Dark Horse: Jim Parsons
It’s probably inappropriate to label two-time defending champion Jim Parsons as a ‘dark horse’, but I’m going to go ahead and give him that label because I really think Louis C.K. has a good chance here. Unlike Bryan Cranston, the clear class of his field, Parson’s performance isn’t so far ahead of the rest of the field as to make him a lock. I’d be more inclined to believe that a third straight win would be due to voter inertia. While we all know Emmy voters love their inertia, I’m seeing shades of Alec Baldwin here – nominated for the first time (loss), breaks through the next year and repeat the following year, before giving way to the new blood. Louis C.K.’s show has gained nominations and respect this year, and he’s got an hour-long episode with some dramatic elements to showcase what he can do. The main knock I can think of is that he’s technically playing himself, but anyone who’s watched the show knows that this is a real performance – and a damn good one at that.
Will: Jim Parsons
Should: Louis CK
Should not be Nominated: John Cryer, Jim Parsons
Will win: Jim Parsons
Should Win: Jim Parsons
Jim Parsons is the most talented actor eligible for the category, hands down.
In all likelihood, Jim Parsons will probably win again even though Louis C.K. and Larry David have the far better episode submissions. For some reason, the academy still loves performances from multi-camera comedies because they are big and over-the-time aka the characters that they typical vote for because of the range they show. The academy also really hasn’t given a win to someone who is playing themselves. Those performances are much harder to prove to the voters that they are actually acting.
Will: Jim Parsons
Should: Louis C.K or Larry David
@Wes
Should Not Be Nominated: Jim Parsons, you have to be kidding right?
I suspect that Parsons will win,
but I think that Alec Baldwin should win is great as Jack Donaghy
Jim Parsons in both. There is no reason why he shouldn’t win again this year. BTW, and as much as I hate being this person, I have to say that this poll looses a lot of credibility when there is no Joel McHale in there. Oh well.
I agree that it will be Jim who repeats, I also agree that I would love for Joel McHale to win but THIS poll doesn’t lose any credibility by not having him on here. He wasn’t nominated. The emmys lose credibility but not the poll. Joel should be in over Jon Cryer.
@Anthony,
Yeah, you’re right. I meant the Emmys, not the poll on the website itself. Also agree that Joel hould be in over John Cryer, which in my modest opinion, is just a pathetic nomination.
The nominees for lead comedic actor really do make me sad. I don’t like any Chuck Lorre show, so I really believe neither Parsons or Cryer should be in there. You could pick any of the actors from Community (well, maybe not Chase, but he’s better than Parsons and Cryer) and have a better list.
PARSONS SHOULD AND WILL WIN
the fact that louie c,k. is nominated makes this pointless , his “acting” is the worst ever in the history period , calling him an actor is an insult to anyone who has ever studied the art .
