This is one of our "2012 Emmys, Who'll Win? Who Should?" posts, to see all our posts on the Emmy Awards click here.

The 2012 64th Annual Emmy Awards nominations are in.

Returning to my predicting, without predicting, method I use each year of simply choosing the previous year's winner (which is beginning to wobble a bit, but I'm sticking with it!) I am compelled to pick Mad Men to once again win for Outstanding Drama Series.

In a double poll, here's your chance to tally who you think WILL win, and who you think SHOULD win.

Feel free to explain.

The 2012 64th Annual Emmy Awards airs on ABC on September 23, 2012.

I want Homeland to win and that is also my pick concerning who will win, even tough I admit it is a very tight race between Homeland, Mad Men and Breaking Bad. I would also love to see Game of Thrones winning but I don’t think it will.

  • Polar Bear

Mad Men’s reign seriously needs to end. I understand why the Emmy voters may not pick “Breaking Bad”, but if it’s not Breaking Bad, it’s Homeland. Homeland was better than Mad Men this year.

If Fringe wasn’t a sci-fi, it would be on this list.

Should: THE GOOD WIFE, REVENGE, or Damages.

    Will: Mad Men or Homeland.

  • glover

    Will: Homeland.

    Should: Homeland.

    BREAKING BAD !!!!!!!!

  • Fed

This is easy – Mad Men

  • ingmarhappy

Breaking Bad will win, Downton Abbey should win ( with the note that I still think Good Wife or Damages should have been nominated )

  • peter

Mad Men will win and should win. Just watch it and you’ll understand. Breaking Bad, Homeland and Game Of Thrones all have quality writing and great characters but they can’t top Mad Men

who will win? MM. who should win? BB.

  • Jack S

Want: either Homeland or Game Of Thrones

I’m thinking that Mad Men’s reign will come to an end at the hands of either Homeland or Breaking Bad.

  • EatMorePez

If any show can beat Mad Men, it will be Homeland. But Breaking Bad SHOULD win.

I would like to be optimistic and say Breaking Bad has a good chance, and I really think it does, but it will probably be Mad Men or Homeland. I would love for Justified to win, I finally gave it another chance, and I’m glad I did. Justified should win even for the sole purpose of making it up to Graham Yost for robbing him of the greatest series of all time, Bootmwon.

    Should Win: Breaking Bad
Also Worthy: Game of Thrones, Homeland

    Will Win: Mad Men
Dark Horse: Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey

With the exception of Justified being excluded for Downton Abbey, this field matches my list of the six best dramas on TV, and I would be happy with any one of them winning (again with the exception of Downton Abbey). Having said that, Downton is probably the biggest threat to end Mad Men’s reign – its range of nominations clearly shows that it has strong support across the board, and it does have a win under its belt in the miniseries category from last year. Breaking Bad also clearly has strong support, and probably had the best overall season, but it’s also a darker show that I could see turning off some of the older voters. I thought Homeland was a serious threat before the nominations were announced, but it didn’t sweep the field as much as I thought it would – now I’d be surprised if it won. Game of Thrones is extremely worthy, but you know that there are some people who will never dream of voting for a fantasy show, even one as well-acted and well-produced as this one. Boardwalk Empire was a legitimate threat last year, but now I think it’s just along for the ride.

I watched Justified when it first premiered, just because my love for Bootmown, but for whatever reason it just didn’t hit me right. Then a year ago I watched the first two episodes, and it just didn’t hit me right, maybe cause it was such a boring day though. But recently, I got the first two seasons on DVD from the library, and I just love this show so much. Even the first two episodes. I’m halfway through season 2 right now, and I plan on watching season 3 somehow, or I’ll just have to wait a couple more months for the DVD. Anyway, this show is probably the best show on tv right now, or at least close, breaking bad is so good, and Justified is if not as good as Boomtown, then it’s almost as good. And I heard Boomtown alumni Neal McDonough and Mykelti Williamson are in season 3. Plus I see a few reoccurring characters from Boomtown reoccur on here, like Raylans Miami Boss in the first episode of season 1 played by Matt Craven. Then that there was a recurring detective on Boomtown, he wasn’t one of the main, just a recurring, played by Rick Gomez, who has been on a few episodes of Justified. Anyway, Neal McDonough played my favorite character on Boomtown, and Mykelti was great too, so I’m exited to see season 3. Man, this show is soooooooo good. Think Yost should get some more Boomtown alumni, like Gary Basaraba or Jason Gedrick or Nina Garbiras, ( I don’t mention onnie Wahlberg or Lana Parillas because they are in other shows right now so they wouldn’t be ale to, and then again Jason Gedrick will be in season of Dexter, so that will hav to wait until season 5, but they have probably already started production on season anyway, so this is moot. But at some point in the series run they need to get the other Boomtown stars, even if just for a one episode guest spot. Plus some other writers/producers/directors from Boomtown also work on Justified like Jon Avnet, Fred Golan, Peter Werner, and I’m sure their ae more, just cant’t think of them right now. nyway, props to Graham Yost for yet another amazing series!

    Will Win: Mad Men

    Should Win: Breaking Bad

I’d be cool with Homeland winning. Boardwalk and Game of Thrones are both mediocre so they don’t even deserve to be nominated in the category.

  • brentpo

    Breaking Bad should win.

But Mad Men will be. They have 3 writing nominations! While Breaking Bad has none.

  • Tessa

Why is American Horror Story not on the list?

  • Amy

I can’t believe Downton Abbey is even nominated in this category. It’s so badly written, especially series 2. I can only imagine it’s because Americans are still facinated with British period drama and classism.
