How Long Before 'Touch' Replaces 'The Mob Doctor' On Monday? (Poll)

Fox's The Mob Doctor premiered to just a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating last night. It's not long for this world. It may not survive until the Cancellation Bear makes his first post of the season on October 2.

"Luckily" for Fox, they've got Touch currently slotted to premiere on Friday (October 26), and presumably it has plenty of episodes already "in the can" for a Fall start, so taking The Mob Doctor off Monday and putting Touch in is the easy move.

But when will that happen?

I'll let the focused schedule jockeys provide handicapping tips in the comments, because Fox's Fall schedule has so many quirks with the baseball playoffs and the election, I can't keep up with it.

Whether The Mob Doctor gets moved to a Friday burn off, or off the schedule entirely is another topic you may wish to cover in your comments.

Update: While there was no presidential election in 2010, after Lone Star "Lonestar'd" its premiere ratings, the series premiere of Lie To Me replaced it on October 4, after two episodes.

Update (2): Voters thought that Lone Star would stick around more than 2 weeks, and we know how that turned out.

What's your guess?

some stupid message about a “new doctor in the house”

I can’t believe they had the audacity to try to get House fans to watch their new drama!

has nobody in the PR department who “gets” fans.

How would you appeal to bitter fans who can’t get over the fact that their show was canceled?

  • Aniin

Maybe after 2 or 3 episodes?

I have an idea ! Let’s take a poll on how many of people on this site watched mob dr last night ! I guarantee not many based on everybody’s opinion – anybody that watched it will tell you it was a good show (not great !) with a lot of twists and turns – also the people that watched will tell you it has a very good cast that preformed good in the pilot – but with a little help from all these negative comments I’m sure you guys will accomplish your goal to get it cancelled – all this after one episode !! Wow you guys are good – btw you guys know fox knew all this was gonna happen right ? – meaning the baseball hiatus – the following already taking their spot – going against heavy Monday competition – probably why they didn’t promote it that much – maybe they were hoping people would watch and review not criticize and not watch it ! – even Facebook has a 80% approval rate !

I think even FOX knew there wasn’t much to say when it comes to TMD. And a knew doctor in the house is not really a big deal. I mean, anyone remember how far House’s ratings had fallen last season?! Imagine how much farther they would fallen had it come back this season with the diluted story lines?!

Ok, am not helping bitter fans here…..

I had voted for Ben & Kate to be the 1st cancelled.

This is my third favorite tile on Fan Excuse Bingo, right after “TV viewers are all as dumb as me.”

Obviously, you didn’t watch any football on FOX this month. They promo’d The Mob Doctor to the point that there were absolutely no twists and turns outside of the final minute, because you had basically already seen the entire episode in the promos.

Maybe FOX could swap both Mob Doctor and Touch, but that’s a long shot. A shame, I liked the pilot, I see Mob Doctor buried in the ground in 2 weeks

Am I the only one that enjoyed Mob Doctor?

I found it more enjoyable than waiting for Peyton to throw more interceptions. However, I had watched both GB/SF and Stanford/USC on FOX, so the endless promos killed any objectivity I had viewing the episode.

Was looking forward to episode two, but it’s a pretty solid DOA.

Fun fact: In relative terms, it didn’t premiere much worse than House did (2.7 in November 2004). Slim hope that it turns into a massive hit? ;)

FOX shoulda kept Alcataz….. While I like Touch, it’s not going to well on Mondays

I expected more comments for Alcatraz. Where are its bitter fans.

  • a p garcia

I wonder if it is possible for FOX to uncancel Terra Nova like CBS did with Unforgetable

  • Jack

God, I hope not. I would rather watch a whole hour of blank TV screen rather than another of either Terra Nova or Alcatraz.

  • http://tvbythenumbers.com Bill Gorman

@ap garcia, Terra Nova dead and buried.

  • Silvio

Terra Nova eaten by dinosaurs, digested and then …

  • Mark

It will be announced after the 3rd episode airs. Touch will air a few episodes in a “special Monday time slot” before moving to Friday and then The Following will premiere in January!

  • Mark

I watched The Mob Doctor and liked it! It wasn’t horrible! You can’t always judge a show by its first episode. I won’t miss it like I did Lone Star though.

  • Jeff R.

Speaking of excuses, how about “lots of people plan to watch the scheduled replay on Friday”?

Given how awful Monday turned out, what are the odds that Fox will emergency-reschedule the planned repeat of that night’s schedule and show a Hotel Hell repeat or something?

  • SVU: Fringe Division

I think Fox needs to take a chance and switch Touch and MD’s timeslots, but only after Baseball is over. MD could lead into Fringe (which won’t help either but they will test MD’s waters) and Touch could start Nov Sweeps leading out of Bones.

  • GARebelman

FOX really screwed themselves ordering next to nothing and canceling everything else.

  • SVU: Fringe Division

Now that I think about it, I say that it airs a max of 2 more episodes. TPC first had a 1.6 then it went to a 1.3 then a 1.2. If MD does worse than Playboy’s 2nd episode then Jrodana Spiro would be out of yet another television acting gig (My Boys, Harry’s Law, Mob Doctor).
