'Revolution' Starts Well, 'The Mob Doctor' Flops

NBC Revolution's premiered with a 4.1 adults 18-49 rating, far above the 1.6 rating for the unlamented The Playboy Club premiere a year ago. We'll likely learn it was NBC's best results for the time period in, oh, forever. Update: The half hour ratings were a 4.4/3.8. Our polled readers were excessively pessimistic. As the saying goes, the Revolution will continue to be televised...

No such good news for the premiere of Fox's The Mob Doctor, which opened with just a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating. That's less than half the 3.1 rating for the 2 hour premiere of Terra Nova on Monday, September 26, 2011. Update: the half hours were both 1.5's. Our polled readers turned out to be wildly optimistic.

Cue the disgruntled Terra Nova fans whining in our comments now!

Monday's full fast affiliate ratings report is now posted.

@leyla – The script for The Mob Doctor was AWFUL. She compared a girl’s pregnancy to blowing up the Death Star.

I liked Revolution and so did most of the people who commented about it on twitter.

I wonder how it would have did if it hadnt been on line for the last month

Was Playboy Club really just a year ago?

First, the saying is “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised”, and that will hold true for the show. I think it’ss be off the air [ if they have a replacement ready ], before November sweeps.

Does anyone remember what Smash debuted with? (not that one can compare since Smash got a 0.0 in males 18-49 :p)

You forgot the all the gay men in the 18-49 group [ not that there’s anything wrong with that :-D ]

I liked Revolution – We’ll be watching – for now – but ween off it if it gets below a 1.9 – I think anything over a 2.0 & NBC will be satisfied – plus SMASH will replace it in Jan. or so.

I like the premise and casting of Mob Doctor. But there was too much, too soon, rendering it unbelievable. The story should have began before the brother’s trouble with the “The Mob”. The Pilot episode left me with the feeling that I’d missed the first 10 episodes.

I thought Revolution was awesome. Loved the plot and it left me with a lot of questions, which will definitely keep me interested.

As with the show Jericho, I think that Revolution would likely have been better presented as a mini-series.

All the world’s lights going out at the same time… LOL

Neither Mob Doctor nor Revolution have made into my TiVo’s Season Passes. I might watch Revolution, but fear it will suffer the same fate as Saving Hope, and will be abruptly cancelled without closure. I hate that.

revolution has a long way to fall for nbc to cancel at this point. and even with a drop, would nbc dare to cancel something that had this kind of initial draw. nbc desperately needs a hit in a drama, and this just might be it. were there some holes? yes. were there many, many convenient plot points to be forgiven? yes. but am i curious to see what happens in the next few episodes? yes. mission of a pilot accomplished.
(also, i think its really cute how so many people on here are rooting for nbc to pull out a win.)

I did feel they skiped a lot, but I liked that.

It gave the sense that you were just as involved as the characters.

She compared the probability of virgin pregnancy to the Death Star.

Revolution was not on my list for new shows. With new shows, I try to watch, at least, three episodes before I drop it. I gave Revolution 20 minutes, so I can’t say if it stinks or not and I don’t care with the new season almost in full swing. When I saw what looked like a new leather jacket and nice clothes on the characters after 15 years in the dark, I knew I didn’t feel like watching a show where I will have to spend so much time questioning its logic. I know Bad Robot can put on a great show that makes sense, look at Persons of Interest.

We are in the second week of the Voice and I am experiencing Voice fatigue. It came back too soon and at least this week and last, the show wants four hours of my time, 3+ if I DVR it.

“revolution has a long way to fall for nbc to cancel at this point.”

100% correct. It’ll be a few weeks before we get a sense for where for the floor is at NBC this season, but it’s WAY below where Revolution premiered.

“and even with a drop, would nbc dare to cancel something that had this kind of initial draw.”

    Of course they would.
