Big Brother” RENEWED FOR SUMMER 2013

CBS Gives Early Pick-Up to Hit Summer Series

Big Brother, the summer reality hit, has been renewed for its 15th edition, to be broadcast next summer on the CBS Television Network.

Since premiering on CBS in the summer of 2000, Big Brother has consistently finished among the summer's top-rated series in young demographics. This summer's edition is averaging 6.79 million viewers, 2.5/08 in adults 18-49, 3.0/08 in adults 25-54 and 1.7/06 in adults 18-34.

Big Brother spans all platforms, from on-air to online and on cable. Online, Big Brother content, including full length episodes and highlight clips, are available at CBS.com and across the CBS Audience Network. Additionally, CBS and RealNetworks provide 24/7 streaming video from inside the Big Brother house. On cable, viewers can continue their live look inside the Big Brother house with BIG BROTHER: AFTER DARK on Showtime 2.

On social media websites, BIG BROTHER is one of television's most socially engaged series. This year on Twitter, BIG BROTHER has had five times the average number of tweets per episode (according to BlueFin Labs) compared to last season.

The special 90-minute finale of this summer's edition of BIG BROTHER, when Dan, Danielle and Ian will compete for the $500,000 prize, will be broadcast tonight (9:30-11:00 PM, ET/PT) following the premiere of SURVIVOR: PHILIPPINES.

BIG BROTHER, hosted by Julie Chen, follows a group of people living together in a house outfitted with more than 52 cameras and 95 microphones recording their every move, 24 hours a day. Each week, the Houseguests vote someone out of the house. The last remaining Houseguest will receive the grand prize of $500,000.

BIG BROTHER is executive produced by Emmy Award-winning producer Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan for Fly on the Wall Entertainment, in association with Endemol U.S.A.

I actually don’t have anything against Big Brother. Lol. Just wanted to see what it was like to post hatred on something. Congrats big brother. However I am glad to see the cancellation of teen mom & jersey shore. They are not what young people need to be looking up to.

    Hmmm. a 15th edition.

Using CBS logic, IS THIS THE 35TH SEASON???

  • Austin

Not surprised. I dont know if I’ll watch next season. It depends on the cast.

Do you all think that the right person won? I do.

If Dan would have won Big Brother this would have been my last season watching the show. I have been a faithful customer watching BB for years. One thing I will say is next summer when BB comes back on, I hope and Pray that the cast will be ALL new cast members. Please no previous player. Let it go to the original BB. Seems like to me and many other faithful members, please donor bring any of them back. Let the cast be all new players. I personally thing the ratings will be much better than what they were this year.

And the Dumbing Down of Society continues. At least “The Colony” proposed some interesting questions. This is just watching monkeys in cages. What a shame, people watch this absolute garbage. You can’t blame the networks either. As long as the Reality show High Margin programs perform well enough, they’ll keep renewing. It’s up to us as a society to not support watching things that have absolutely no redeeming value.

I am a fan of Big Brother and will admit that this season started off slow. Dan’s takeover of the house did make it interesting in the second half of the game. I too hope it is an all new cast and bring in the past contestants only as people to host the reward challenge games or something like that.

It’s summertime fun that doesn’t pretend to be anything more. And after seeing one episode of The Glass House, I appreciate BB even more.

I think they should have one more completely new cast before an All-Stars 2. There haven’t been many notable people in the last 7 seasons. I could probably come up with a list, but all of the famous players have already played twice within those 7 years: Evel Dick, Daniele, Rachel, Jeff, Britney.

Hate the show or not ,, it gets decent ratings ,,

Now looking forward to Big Brother Canada in February 2013. ;-)

Yes, what would summer be without the glorious Chenbot? Thank goodness that she’s the first lady of CBS.

    Good!

Another opportunity to utterly ignore it.

Btw, the most *boring* POS *ever* put on television (including test patterns) has to be “Big Brother – After Dark” on Showtime.

Watching paint dry is a literally a thrill a minute compared to the existential banality of BBAD.

It is like watching hour after endless hour of the footage *edited-out* of the worst nature documentaries (“Consider the sloth…”) of all time.

  • NJ Viewer

    Who even watches that garbage?

  • Alley Car

    YAAAYYYY!!!!!!!!!

  • Alley Car

    Who even lives in NJ?

  • SG

Missed one episode in 14 seasons due to a thunder storm, love the show!

  • Drew

    Yay!! I love Big Brother!!!

  • cheryl m

As much as i loved Dan this season i hope its all newbies next time im kinda sick of the returning players and that goes for survivor too.Big Brother is on all over the world so i don’t see it ending any time soon in the U.S.Canada is preparing its own version it will be interesting to see the difference.

  • RyanCanada

they should start it a few weeks earlier so it doesnt run 3 weeks into sept, i hate that…

  • s0303

considering how the new summer shows (3 and dogs in the city) did for cbs this summer, it’s a no brainer that big brother got renewed :)
