    The Voice looks like it will pimp Flopfactor for another week ;)

    The New Normal? How about The New Heroes! Bring Heroes back!

    Interesting ratings. I expect everything will go down with new competition next week. The New Normal is hardly a flop with a 2.2. It is a show with some controversy however with some conservative groups who’ve organized letter writing campaigns & are hungry to see it cancelled so some people posting are very invested in using the words flop and how it’s going to be cancelled.

    I don’t see that happening. AS pointed out, Community, 30 Rock and Parks & Recs have had lower ratings and have still survived. NBC also took on TNN knowing it was going to rile up some people. They’re going to take the time to grow the audience. Right now though, the show is hardly a flop for NBC.

    RE: the New Normal. Nice cast and pretty good show. I like it. I do think Andrew Rannells doessn’t quite bear his weight, although perhaps he appeals to gay viewers. If he had more appeal, the show would spark more. Ellen Barkin is delicious. I think it’s the Rannells character that’s holding it back from highter ratings–not the subject matter, which is very sweetly handled.

    @samantha h
    “Go On” is terrible…people are just too lazy to turn the channel after watching The Voice!
    Wow!! There’s a new one for Fan Excuse bingo!
    I don’t know about you, samantha, but I got a remote control for my tv a few years ago. :-)

    I also find Go On boring but it has its heartfelt moments that’s making me stay and there’s potential for improvements. And I just want Perry to have a show that will last for another season.
    I’m SOOO in agreement with you about this. Perry is the bomb.

    I thought Andrew Rannells character on The New Normal might end up being annoying based on the first 2 episodes but thought that this last episode added a lot of depth to him and I thought he was really good. It really surprised me to find he’s now becoming my favorite character on the show. I think he has great comic timing and love his scenes with the little girl. Anyway, I think the show has loads of potential and think it’s an important one even!

    I now officially hate the word flop. People who replace part of the title of a show with “flop” do nothing but expose themselves as tantrum-prone children. It’s not original, funny, cute or edgy to do it – it’s just stupid. Please stop.

    For the record, I don’t watch or care about any of the shows to which that has happened in this thread.

    Is it ironic that The New Normal is going to be hurt by The Mindy Project, considering Mindy Kaling helped The Office become NBC’s most watched scripted series the past few years? Why didn’t NBC pick up her show? NBC is having an improved year anyway, but still.

  • Dan

    Go On and The New Normal may still dip each week but both will still get full seasons, NBC has never had comedies do this well in years because theyve never had The Voice

  • Nadine

    Well another thing to think about is that when CBS starts its season, The Voice will be opp. blockbuster NCIS and Go On and the New Normal will be opp. NCIS-LA. I always thought the LA spinoff was very feh, but NCIS has a hugely loyal following. It’s going to make a difference. I gave up on NCIS years ago which has jumped a whole ocean of sharks in the meantime, but it’s going to matter.
