The final season of The Office premieres tonight. Last year, the show premiered to a 3.9 adults 18-49 rating on September 22, 2011, against tough competition from the season premiere of Grey's Anatomy and the series premiere of  Person Of Interest, as viewers tuned in to see what the show was like without Steve Carrell. Ratings subsequently declined, with the season finale on May 10 earning a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating. However, viewers often return to a show in its final season. Tonight, The Office's only original competition is Glee and The Next. How do you think it will do among adults 18-49?

    3.0.

  • MattM

Yep, 3.0 exactly. Still has a lot of fans and a lot of people miss good network comedy.

  • Alysse

Wow. Lots of optimistic people on that poll. I’m going for mid to high 2s.

  • Jeff (Canada)

I’ll say 3.1. It’s the last season, ratings won’t matter much for the show. It’ll matter for NBC, but fans are usually fans of a show and not of a whole network.

Hopefully a lot of people tune in for the final season. It’s sad that it is ending but I am kind of glad they are ending it before it hits rock bottom.

  • Oliver

It hit rock bottom last season. Thankfully this season has Greg Daniels returning to steer it back on track.

  • SJ

2.7. Hopefully Parks manages at least a 2.3 out of that.

  • Fed

3.2 NBC is on a roll. I think all of their shows would have good numbers.

  • Raykov

2.3-2.4… Will there be guess the ratings for the other shows (UAN and P&R)

  • J.G.

    Guesses for the whole night:

    SNL: 2.8
    Up All Night: 2.1
    The Office: 2.9
    Parks and Rec: 2.3

  • Oliver

The ratings of Up All Night and Parks are far more interesting than The Office.

I predict mid-1s for UAN and low 2s for Parks.

I can’t wait to see how UAN does up against a repeat of TBBT without The Office lead-in. If it flops, it seems like the ideal timeslot for Community.

    @ Oliver

Because Community wouldn’t flop as well?

  • SJ

Don’t Community and Animal Practice have some of the same creative people behind the cameras? Between that and Whitney and Guys with Kids both being multi-cams, how did NBC not think to pair Community with AP on Wednesdays and Whitney with GWK on Fridays? How stupid are they?!

  • Agnes

I voted 2.5-2.9 for the premiere but its a hard one to call for the entire season. If it persists in being the Andy Bernard show, it will tank quickly. If it plays to its strength and presents itself as a balanced ensemble show, it should be up on last season. Thank goodness for Daniels returning though (and hoping for waaaaay less Lieberstein).

    @Oliver

Up All Night only has 13 episodes anyway, if it proves to do really well, it’ll probably get more episodes but if it flops, after the 13 episodes it’s done!

  • CD

where’s the poll for Parks and Recreation?

  • Oliver

    @chriss

Because Community wouldn’t flop as well?

Depends just how badly UAN does, doesn’t it? Remember how The Paul Reiser Show and Perfect Couples did in that timeslot? Besides, a flop that costs NBC less money is less of a flop from their point of view, and Sony will have slashed the license fee.

Don’t Community and Animal Practice have some of the same creative people behind the cameras? Between that and Whitney and Guys with Kids both being multi-cams, how did NBC not think to pair Community with AP on Wednesdays and Whitney with GWK on Fridays? How stupid are they?!

The Russos directed both pilots and they share a monkey.

If you squint, you can see their point of view in terms of maximising their potential audience. If AP was a hit, it’s silly to have Community behind it, and Guys With Kids’ audience would be limited on Friday. Community and Whitney aren’t really strong enough to be effective lead-ins.

Also, Whitney Cummings and Joel McHale are both on E!. Networks love synergy, even if it makes little sense.

  • Allen

    2.0 – UAN
    2.8 – Office
    2.4 – Parks

  • Anthony

I’d say 3.0 but lower wouldn’t shock me. Last season was very bad creatively (to point where I considered stopping watching) so some people might not come back.

    Up All Night: 2.2
    The Office: 3.0
    Parks and Rec: 2.3
