Univision's 'Meet the Candidate Event with Mitt Romney' Reaches 4.2 Million Viewers

Univision’s broadcast of "El Gran Encuentro con Mitt Romney" (Meet the Candidate Event with Mitt Romney) on Wednesday, September 19 at 10 p.m. reached 4.2 million viewers that watched all or part of the one-hour special broadcast.

 

Hosted by Jorge Ramos and Maria Elena Salinas, the forum with Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney averaged 2.8 million Total Viewers 2+, 1.4 million Adults 18-49 and 1.3 million Adults 25-54.

 

In the time period "El Gran Encuentro con Mitt Romney" made Univision:

  • · No. 2 broadcast network, behind CBS, among Adults 18-34
  • · No. 3 broadcast network, beating ABC, among Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54

 

The special ranked as the No. 8 program on all of broadcast television among Adults 18-34.

 

On Univision local stations, "El Gran Encuentro con Mitt Romney" ranked as the No. 1 broadcast program among Adults 18-49 in Los Angeles, Houston and Phoenix and No. 1 among Adults 18-49 in Los Angeles and Houston. The forum also ranked as the No. 2 broadcast program among Adults 18-34 in Chicago, San Francisco and Sacramento and No. 2 among Adults18-49 in San Francisco and Phoenix.

 

Univision’s "El Gran Encuentro con Mitt Romney" last night delivered more Adult 18-49 viewers than Romney’s speech at the Republican National Convention in many markets, including in:

  • · Chicago by 129% more Adult 18-49 viewers

  • · Phoenix by 133% more Adult 18-49 viewers
  • · San Francisco by 325% more Adult 18-49 viewers
  • · Sacramento by 75% more Adult 18-49 viewers

 

Univision’s Meet the Candidate forums focus on education and the future of the Hispanic community. "El Gran Encuentro con Barak Obama” (Meet the Candidate Event with Barak Obama) will air on Univision on Thursday, September 20 at 10 p.m. ET. This marks the first time during the general election that the presidential candidates address Hispanic Americans. Both forums took place in front of a live audience at the University of Miami’s BankUnited Center Fieldhouse and was also live-streamed on Univision.com. The Univision Noticias Facebook Page also live-streamed the event in English, as did UnivisionNoticias.com in both languages, with Facebook’s politics hub also highlighting the event. The event will also be broadcasted on local Univision America radio stations and on UnivisionAmerica.com.
