    Maybe I am in a minority here, but 2BG only getting a 3.7 in the higher rated 9:00 hour compared to a 3.6 for HIMYM in the lowest rated half hour of the night is not very good. I don’t think CBS is very happy with a 9:00 sitcom only pulling a 3.7. When is the last time a CBS 9:00 sitcom had a season premiere get less than a 4.0 ?

  • Liam

    Shocked at Castle. I was expecting a drop in the finals but not a drop that big. I really hope that the show can rise next week.
    If this is what Castle can get with the DWTS lead-in imagine the drop it will get when it doesnt have the lead-in (which is when the ratings do take a hit). I tnikn based in these ratings, season 5 might be the shows last season, but hopefully the series will get a shortned 6th season.

  • Hubert

    @Petar,
    I’m actually pretty sure HIMYM at least tied the Voice in head-to-head competition.

  • CMG

    Eridapo: As I noted in the other thread, it wasn’t just Green Bay/Appleton that was preempted, it was also Milwaukee.

    Besides for the preemption, I understand ESPN alone got absolutely massive ratings, absolutely obliterating everyone on broadcast, which also had an impact on the ratings overall.

    Looking at the finale numbers from last year, the ratings for Castle are on par. DWTS gave a leadin of 2.7 and the show did a 2.4. Now DWTS is at 2.5 and the show gets a 2.1, so the ratings are in line with the collapse of DWTS.

    H50 is really shocking me. It’s penultimate episode did a 2.3 with a leadin of 3.1. In the finale, H50 got a 2.7 with a 3.4 leadin and no competition from CBS.

    I just don’t see the 5 tenths of a drop with M&M providing similar leadin numbers, but then again Smash had already lost its steam….

  • Ultima

    @MoHasanie
    Well 2BG could have gotten 4.0+ had the lead in gotten at least a 3.0.

    Nonsense. The ratings from last spring don’t show that at all (2 Broke Girls only grew 0.2 from the 3.3 lead-in from HIMYM).

  • eridapo

    @Liam,

    It seems that DWTS is now up to The Bachelor Numbers. The Bachelor was getting 2.5s for most of its run, and when that happen Castle was a 2.1 show.

    Hawaii Five 0, I have to imagine with those ratings continue CBS will first move it to a different night, before thinking about canceling it. As for it’s syndication deal, I have to imagine there is an out clause in it or performance measures that have to met. So if CBS wants to cancel it, they’ll cancel it.

  • Petar Ivanov

    We must admire eridapo. He was talking for this things – big almost unreal ratings drop from some time.

    @Ultima
    Come on be honest. NOBODY even you don’t see this h5o ratings droping so much. They are shocking whatever you talk now after…….

  • Jared

    I personally don’t watch much on Monday nights..so these shows ratings don’t make me feel any which way but last season NBC was never a factor compared to the other broadcast networks shows at 10pm. Now that Revolution is a semi hit..and I use the word hit lightly being only its second episode..but viewers who have been watching seem to like it. So I’m not really surprised both Castle and H5O were down last night.

  • s0303

    @ raykov…i think cbs should consider shipping h-50 to cable…they aren’t going to keep a show on cbs for this season and next just for a syndication deal if it only gets a 1.8 (and will probably dip lower by the end of the 2 seasons.)

  • Ken

    Why is everyone bashing CBS’s numbers? Did everyone forget the massive hype over the post-Sheen premiere of 2.5 Men posted huge numbers for their entire lineup that night? Of course HIMYM and 2BG were going to be down from last year!

    That said, Partner’s ratings are disappointing compared to its lead-in and lead-out.

  • joss

    yes HIMYM is up poor CBS :(

  • eridapo

    @Ultima,

    I agree with you. I expect the ratings across all broadcast networks to be down this fall by as much as 3 tenths of a point when compare to last year. The numbers are indeed Spring like numbers.

    The surprising thing to me was the drop in H50. I expected to be in line with the spring number (a 2.3 or 2.4). I just didn’t see a 1.8.

  • Petar Ivanov

    I guess now networks will go this way:

    Sunday&Monday wins for NBC

    Tuesdays even between CBS, FOX, NBC

    Wednesday – ABC

    Thursday – wins for CBS

    Fridays – ABC

  • bluejays

    @Ultima. You are right that ratings decline every year. But no one here is arguing they should go up. However what normally happens is not quite what you are describing.

    What normally happens is that shows rebound from their spring lows in the fall premier season but don’t get as high as they got in the fall the previous season. So a drop of a good few demo points from the previous fall is expected. That is not what we’ve seen last night. Or certainly not with Castle and Five-0.

  • Ben Thompson

    And a huge ouch to DWTS. Its spring season should be disastrous.

  • Ultima

    @Petar
    Come on be honest. NOBODY even you don’t see this h5o ratings droping so much.

    You’re reading what you want to read, not what I actually wrote.

    Nonsense. I’ll give you Hawaii Five-0, but the CBS sitcoms are right where they should be.

    Read it again.

    Got it? Good.

  • Mike

    I think the best and only explanation for all these numbers is NBC.
    NBC has been a zero for 2 years, with flop after flop. So ABC and CBS had Monday nights just for them. No competition. And CBS had it even easier last year because of all the buzz around Asthon replacing Charlie.
    Finally NBC has some good shows, actually amazing shows, The Voice and Revolution. So now it will be when we will really see how strong CBS and abc are.
