Broadcast TV is being invaded tonight...and yes there are little green men. The Neighbors has received some negative buzz on the critic circuit despite being compared to 90s cult hit (and similarly-themed) 3rd Rock From the Sun, but its Modern Family lead-in may still give the premiere the eyeballs it needs tonight. What do you think? Will you be watching?
I guessed 2.1-2.6, I imagine many will tune out halfway through. It looked good until they showed the aliens, which just looked so stupid.

Despite the Neighbors failing, ABC will come a close second to CBS. AP, GWK, Survivor, TXF, and Oh Sit! will be down due to increased competition. MF will be up due to the Emmys being recently and on ABC.

whitney and LMS from last season. 4 critics even gave the show at least a 70.

How quickly people forget. The ABC sitcom Work It from last season is a contender for the worst sitcom to have ever been broadcast. It got 19 on Metacritic with not a single TV critic being willing to defend it.

whitney had a 49 out of 100, sorry I thought it was lower.
It’ll do better than it deserves with the Modern Family lead in. I’d have it in the low twos if it wasn’t for MF.
Suburgatory premiered with the Middle as a lead-in at 3.3. I think this will hit a similar number, then drop like a stone!

Last year Moden Family got a 6.2 for its hour long premier. With everything being down so far this week I think Modern Family will be down a little bit somewhere around a 5.6-5.8.
With that said I expect Neighbors to retain less than half it’s lead in, soninfully expect it to premiere under a 3.0, probably a 2.5 give or take

I think 2.1. The show looks awful, IMO.
Elsewhere, I think X Factor will dip to a 3.4.

That would be countered by the fact that ABC promoted the heck out of it during the Emmys – where it won Outstanding Comedy. That should raise it about a half a point. (Fox had the Emmys last year)
I think it will tank. I’d say low 2′s to start with and progressively worse when they move it to its new time next week.
Honestly The Neighbors isn’t as bad as the previews and critics have suggested. The primary problem with the show is that it isn’t really a prime time broadcast sitcom. It feels a lot like ABC have just taken a sitcom that was being developed for the Disney Channel and inexplicably put it on after Modern Family.
Personally I think it’ll probably do OK out of Modern Family tonight – high 2/low 3 – but whether it can maintain anything close to OK at 8:30 is another question entirely.
It will be a Flop!
