You can see TV ratings from other recent Overnight ratings reports here.

Definitions: Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Considering the competition, X Factor held up very well. Everyone on here thought it would fall below 3.0 but I’m glad it didn’t.

Pretty amazing for Modern Family, even though it’s down from last year’s premiere. The Neighbours also premiered well, but I definitely can see it falling next week.

  • Chris

Animal Practice is pretty bad, but I liked the cast, particularly Crystal, the monkey who plays Dr. Rizzo. An amazing talent. And at 10k an ep, clearly underpaid. ;)

    Community! Community! Bring in Community!

SVU pretty low for the premier. It will be lower next week. I hope against hope that Chicago Fire can do well if its good.

Those numbers for Modern family are still very good. Quite weak numbers for Criminal Minds. Those are the sort of numbers it pulls right towards the end of the season normally. CSI held up really well considering its lead in was down considerably.

If SVU is pulling a 2.0, it isn’t going anywhere. NBC’s stupid wasting it at 9 again though. NBC’s 10pm slots in mid-season might still show life for the first time in years.

    REVOLUTION Mondays (if it holds)
PARENTHOOD Tuesdays (even a 1.8-1.9 is good for NBC; order will be extended to 22)
SVU Wednesdays (i’m sure it’ll move back to 10 once Chicago Fire tanks)
SMASH Thursdays (makes the most sense; will probably pull ‘Parenthood’ numbers)
Dateline Fridays (or move Grimm to 10 and launch something at 9)

Does anyone know what CSI premiered last season? Is it up or down?

  • Oliver

The Neighbors did better than I expected. Can’t wait for the quarter-hours.

  • greysfan

The Neighbors was so bad it was hilarious. Its the funniest NEW comedy i have seen so far but despite laughing a lot it was sort of WTF is this crap type of laughing.

Great to see Modern Family on a 5.5. X Factor is doing ok too. 3.3 isn’t Idol figures but this show is good. I wish they would use the editing room better though AMERICA!!! The UK and Australian versions are great because the editing is done right. America sorry your editing sucks. Instead of giving us 3s of singing from certain contestants give us a proper full on 5 minute audition from some of the great singers instead of the really bad ones. Can’t believe Simon is doing this crap to his own show. It could be so much better but its over done.

  • Billy

Even being down Modern Family still put up good numbers.

NBC is in trouble on Wednesday and Thursday. Good for them they have a good Monday and Tuesday.

  • forg

The way the past 2 nights were disappointing, I’m glad MF still scored a 5+ and The Middle held its own as always. The Middle will likely will never get blockbuster rating but it’s one the most reliable shows ABC has

  • RatingsWar

A 5.5 for Modern Family makes it the no.1 show on 18-49 so far this week not counting sports.

  • Remote Patrolled

The X Factor will likely adjust up to a 3.4 or even a 3.5 and about 9.75 million – so pretty much on par with last week.

Not as big as The Voice but not bad given the increased competition. Plus unlike The Voice, X Factor tends to stay steady / grow as it goes along, while The Voice slips a bit after the blind auditions.

Given Fox’s other problems there’s no way it isn’t coming back next year

I’m stunned at how bad Neighbors actually was–still in disbelief–should be adjusted down in finals due to the 9:31 finish of MF

Glad the Middle held its own–great show & AP/GWK imploded as they should have

CBS lineup still strong & CSI rules the roost @ 10:00

XFAC down even more–it doesn’t get any better than this

  • were123

The Middle did very good! up 0.8 rating point from the finale! YESSS! It held its ground ;)
Ouch for Animal Practice, NBC must be regretting have given the spot after the Olympics, I mean from a 4.1 to a 1.4! that’s 2.5 rating fall! I don’t think it will last long, even Guys with Kids did better than that! Will Up all Night come back to Wensdays?

  • MoHasanie

Good for MF and The Middle. Really enjoyed both shows yesterday, and both were very funny. MF may be down, but everything is down these days.
The Neighbors was horrible and its surprising it even managed a 3.3. I’m expecting downward adjustments.

Criminal Minds was ok, but I don’t really like the new girl.

  • Jeff (Canada)

I like the idea of swapping UAN with Community and Animal Practice with Whitney. It puts them both back in their former ‘homes’. Then NBC can use Fridays as the burn-off days for UAN and Animal Practice (two shows that I admit I like, but I understand they aren’t going to be sticking around very long).

  • cc

Love The Middle! If it got half the media attention as MF, it would blow them out of the water.

It’s CBS and football for me tonight.

  • DW

to community fans and i am one , why would you bring back a show that would do the same numbers?. it doesn’t make sense.

  • jRobnyc

No offense to anyone please but is “Animal Practice” a Canadian show? Made in Canada like some other NBC shows? Because it doesn’t fit with anything in any network, I watched the premiere and thought it wasn’t funny, too forced. I watched “Neighbors” last night and thought it was a sweet show, with sweet/nice aliens with British accent, well unless this will turn into “V” at some point, but I’m not intending to keep watching it. I liked the characters.

  • Damiker

X Factor very consistent & slightly underwhelming.
