You can see TV ratings from other recent Overnight ratings reports here.

Definitions: Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

CBS was its usually solid self as most of the numbers were in line with each other although they were down year-to-year. What’s been amazing is how much CSI has put itself back together with an improved cast Elisabeth Shue and Ted Danson were good pickups for them to keep that show going for a few more years.

ABC comedies did about what everybody expected I was surprised that they were down though I’m starting to wonder if Modern Family peaks early as a series. In my opinion this was not a good start for The Neighbors because I’m thinking in terms of the upcoming weeks when it moves. It will have a much weaker lead-in and that bleeding in the demo is not good either. It literally bled over 2 full points in the demo, I haven’t seen that in a while. It should be interesting to see how Surbugatory does out of MF.

X Factor deserves a lot of credit tonight it held up super well on Wednesday and looks to have kept up an unheard of streak of doing better than the premiere. Without X Factor I’m not sure where FOX would be this season but its in a very very dark place.

Supernatural returns next week and Arrow the week after so Wednesdays will get even more interesting.

I think we learned a lot with NBC on what they should be doing before sweeps in November. SVU is still really stable and will probably hang around until the network gets a few more hits in the drama category.

For the comedies I see it this way, for whatever reason I expected Animal Practice to do a lot better even though it already premiered after the Olympics. Now that its gotten these numbers it might be at the top of the line for NBC’s first cancellation of the season. I thought the news was better for Guys with Kids because of the unexpected growth out of Animal Practice in the demo. Guys with Kids has the better potential of growing but it needs to be moved to Fridays with Whitney obviously because AP is going to drag it down pretty badly.

I saw this promo yesterday and was amazed by it so I thought I would post it for the people looking at the ratings today to see. I’m officially on that Chicago Fire bandwagon now.

“Love The Middle! If it got half the media attention as MF, it would blow them out of the water.”

I AGREE 100%! It IS SUPER FANTASTIC! Much Funnier than MF. But MF Is still Funny

Great to see Modern Family on a 5.5. X Factor is doing ok too. 3.3 isn’t Idol figures but this show is good. I wish they would use the editing room better though AMERICA!!! The UK and Australian versions are great because the editing is done right. America sorry your editing sucks. Instead of giving us 3s of singing from certain contestants give us a proper full on 5 minute audition from some of the great singers instead of the really bad ones. Can’t believe Simon is doing this crap to his own show. It could be so much better but its over done.

ITA. Simon should really know better. Nobody’s interested in the drama…seems so staged. Just stick to the singing. Thank goodness bootcamp is next and auditions end next week.

I agree with what someone else on here said. While the X factor may night as be as high as the voice (which is only behind a little bit) the x factor tends to gain viewers as it goes and the voice looses viewers. I’m not really.a fan of either show but it seems to me only reason the voice is around still is because it was after the superbowl.

    @ bluejay72

I’d watch the 10mil viewership, especially when mentioning NCIS (especially) & DWTS among others

@CarShark, SVU is doing okay by NBC standards.

“X Factor is holding up well because there’s hardly any competition”

Oh yea, Modern Family’s 5.5 is hardly competition (sarcasm).

  • SarahL

I absolutely loved Neighbors. It had me rolling especially when Jackie Joyner Kersey said, “Our Dick has revealed himself.” LOL! Great show! I am so glad that it did well and hope it makes it through the season.

Animal Practice… tanked big time. You think it is because they hoped to get animal lovers to watch the show? Then why open the first show with scenes of animals being idiotically injured by stupid owners.

This is supposed to be funny?

Stupid funny is not funny, let the networks know!!!

The Middle is great for ABC, it is a nice self starter and no matter how far it drops in the spring, it always returns to great numbers in the fall. Hopefully it will get adjusted up! Modern Family did great! First show this fall to hit above a 5.0. (hopefully TBBT can beat it tonight!), but I’m sure it will be adjusted up because of the minute overrun into TN, and it’s down a lot from last year because it had an hour episode. The Neighbors premiered well, but it will probably be adjusted down. It was an awful show and probably drop to low 2s next week after The Middle. Suburgatory should flourish in the post Modern Family slot. It should hit high 3s and possibly even low 4s. Suburgatory is the best show for the slot other than The Middle, but TM will never get the post MF slot. Revenge recap episode did great and just as I expected. I’m hoping for at least a 3.0 on Sunday, but I won’t be disappointed unless it premieres less than 2.7.

NBC – AP bombed. Joanna Garcia deserves more! She is a great comedic actress but has been casted in bomb after bomb ever since Reba! ABC should cast her in a comedy for next season! GWK not dead yet, will likely get a full season if the numbers hold up. But they should move Whitney back to Wednesdays and just hold off Community. Or switch it with Up All Night. SVU is dead, but did GREAT numbers for NBC! Chicago Fire will most likely bomb.

CBS – Survivor did good. CM not good for a premiere episode. CSI did ok, but will it see a 2.0 this season? or lower?

Hopefully Nashville really be the NEXT GREAT DRAMA they’re promoting is as. (I don’t know why but for some reason I really see this becoming a smash hit and will be nominated for Emmy’s next year! ABC’s drama version of Modern Family anyone?)

  • Shawn

Survivor always maintains most of the audience!! It is so solid for an older show..WAY TO GO!

  • Tony JJ

This is a GREAT NASHVILLE promo!

  • joel

Yeah, so many dumb people have trashed The Neighbors. What they don’t get is it will stand out as something unique to people who are fatigued with 30 other sitcoms that are almost exactly alike. The alien angle allows the writers a lot of freedom for creativity, it’s just a question of whether they’ll take advantage of it. People will initially be intrigued to see what craziness happens next.

  • OMG

Given that Revenge got a 3.3 out of a 6.1 Modern Family last year, I would say The Neighbours did well for its premiere.

Modern Family got a 6.1 for an hour long episode last year. For a half-hour episode with 5.5 I would say it did good. I was honestly worried when it did a 4.2 last finale.

Great ratings for Modern Family. And the premiere just sealed another Emmys win for the show next year.

  • toadytoady

what was the breakdown numbers for SVU from 9pm to 10pm. Did ratings go up or down?

  • senor chang

HORRIBLE number for Animal Practice. That’s only a tenth above what Up All Night premiered at. I’m sure it’ll get at least another week, but it does not look long for this world.
Guys With Kids did surprisingly decently, though. Slotting Whitney in at 8 might be worth a shot.
SVU did right around what I thought.
