The Neighbors just felt cheap and retro. Part of that could work in its favor (or if it gets cancelled ABC can try this tactic with another show) kind of like Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Dinosaurs kind of way. However I just don’t see it lasting a whole season.

But then again I didn’t see Suburgatory lasting and yet it’s still here so strange things happen

  • Hounder

Why can’t ABC just make a regular comedy like their other Wednesday shows instead of making weird garbage like The Neighbors.

  • Don

The Middle is one of my favorite shows on Wednesday. Congratulations!!!

  • Martha

LOL Colin, X Factor ratings are bad, they’re lower than last year when they were considered a flop with even a bigger competition.

  • DaveyJ

As a fan of Jamie Gertz, I hope that she and the rest of the cast of the neighbors realized when they signed up that the cancellation bear will be dining on them very soon.

“Glad The Middle can beat the much over hyped New Girl in viewers and demo.”

    Me too. :D

  • JONNYSBRO

The X Factor is doing solid business for FOX its by far its number 1 show in viewers and all demo categories. U cannot compare it to the first seaosn which was very overly hyped and it had the huge Paula/Simon reunion buzz from Idol. Of coruse it was going to be higher. Idol in its hey day with Simon-Paula-Randy was doing 28 to 33 million a week. For a second season with only Britney Spears really getting buzz its doing well. FOX will be happy with it and I guarantee it will get a third season renewel. I think whats weird is Britney/Demi are the reasons for the young tune-in. Honestly I would keep them and ditch LA/Simon. I know this is Simon’s show but he fits so much better at Idol. U can’t fire him because he owns the show LOL. X Factor is not much off at all from the previous week.

    Still Standing > Neighbors

The Neighbors > The Middle ??????
That says so much about TV viewers today. :(

Sucks that MF is down so much. I think this may be the year that TBBT outpaces it :(

I really don’t see CSI surviving on CBS much longer with those premiere ratings. Ouch!

Oh Sit held up! It deserved that renewal.

The X Factor is old news by now.

NBC’s comedies are DEAD. SVU may stick around a little longer. It’s doing better than Parenthood and on a much worse night.

  • Nick

JONNYSBRO, not to mention the xfactor didn’t have another singing show in the same week last year, how many people really want to follow two singing shows in the same week? Xfactor is also up against it’s own terrible reviews from last season so I think it’s doing quite well. Also American idol is down 20-30% last season. It’s getting crowded.

  • Bay

The X Factor is a huge failure. They spent an incredible amount of money and for what? It can’t even get more than a 4.0 in the demo. Its not even above 10 million viewers. They hired Britney Spears to excite people and yet she couldn’t even attract new viewers. Where is her so-called massive fan base at? Simon and the producers assumed she would bring in the viewers and she failed to do so. They promoted this season like it was the first and built up all this hype but it hasn’t even reach The Voice numbers. Just a few weeks ago everyone and I mean EVERYONE said the X Factor would slaughter The Voice but the opposite occurred. If The Voice had X Factor numbers, everyone would’ve called it a flop and laughed about it for days. But now people on this website are trying to convince themselves that Simon’s show is a hit when its apparently not. Yeah, keep trying to do that. Their ratings will still be laughably low.

  • Nick

Bay, it’s called perspective and reality of circumstances. If they hadn’t made changes they wouldn’t be getting above a 3.0 demo I can assure you.

  • Jimbo

I will say it’s amusing that a show in its 25th season (Survivor) is just .3 in the 18-49 demo behind The X Factor (2nd season).

Also, unsurprisingly, Animal Practice and Guys With Kids don’t look long for this world. Both shows were poorly received by critics, looked awful, didn’t do great ratings-wise last night, and would probably be DOA on any major network not named NBC.

  • Brian J

    @Darcy:

On the contrary, NBC is in better shape than it’s been in a few seasons. It has a lot of work to do on all nights, particularly Wednesdays and Thursdays, but its Mondays and its Tuesdays are good.

  • Brian J

    @Bay:

It’s all relative. Would any other show be doing better for Fox than “XF”? Maybe, maybe not.

Also, does the presence of “XF” make Fox’s schedule less jumbled, in comparison to the absurd number of switches it used to make when “Idol” was on and there was nothing like it during the fall? I think it does.

The biggest problem with Fox is that they aren’t using this show to build any other show. I don’t watch it, but like a lot of shows, it’s probably bloated. Can’t it be cut down by at least a half hour to support another show? Probably, yes.

  • Bern

If ABC wants a sci-fi shows with aliens why don’t they bring back “V” for a 3rd season. That was a quality show. Bad thing some of the actors already moved on like Elizabeth Mitchell (Revolution) ans Scott Wolf. The Neighbors this is going to be their 1st and last season.

  • Nick

You forgot to add that the Revenge Recap was adjusted down.

  • Hugh

I was pretty close with my Modern and Neighbors predictions.

  • rodolfo

Hope revenge on sunday is a good idea i want this show around for a long time!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • JONNYSBRO

The X Factor is far from a flop. It did better in its third week then its first week. Hey it went up against the Voice. Its doing well in young demos and is by far FOX’s highest rated fall show. It will be renewed for season 3. We knew it would be down from last year because last year was panned badly. This season is an improvement over last. Its not as good as the Voice but its solid for FOX.
