VA: Military absentee ballots going AWOL in 2012
FREDERICKSBURG — A 92 percent drop in absentee-ballot requests by military personnel in Virginia is raising concerns that the Pentagon is failing to carry out a federal voting law.
With only 1,746 military voters in Virginia requesting absentee ballots so far this year — out of 126,251 service members in the state —the Military Voter Protection Project says the system has broken down.
And it’s not just in the Old Dominion. MVPP Executive Director Eric Eversole reports significant declines in absentee-ballot requests by service members across the nation.
Compiling data from Virginia, Florida, North Carolina, Illinois, Ohio, Alaska, Colorado and Nevada, Eversole’s organization found that military families have requested 55,510 absentee ballots so far this year. That’s a sharp decline from the 166,252 sought in those states in 2008.
@ ratty
That wasn’t it ratty but thanks for posting it, it’s good too
@Ratboy
That’s because most Soldiers don’t want to vote for either candidate. There’s been a shift in support for the Wars even within the ranks, so they don’t want the Republicans in power because of their love of Wars. At the same point, most don’t like Obama, with the exception of the younger Soldiers who love watching people like Jon Stewart. Thus, leaving them in a position to vote for neither candidate.

In the meantime, “The Houstons: On their Own” – a new series on Whitney Houston’s family – premieres this month on TV.

Romney inches closer in Gallup Poll. Obama up 49-45. Obama’s approval is under 50%, at 47%. Obama leads in Rasmussen 50% to 47%. Rasmussen has him at 49% approval. Dems generally poll better on weekends.
Last week those leads in most of the lib. media polls were 6 to 8 points.
We can take a little credit for pressuring the lib. media about their obvious bias. My cousin and me organized an E-mail writing campaign to NBC News. Next is CBS but I don’t think anything can get Scott Pelley or Sixty Minutes to ask any hard questions of the President.
Note: NBC doing one story does not represent a shift in policy. They were pressured into reporting the scandal in Libya. It will business as usual tonight.
