TNT Adds Third Season of Franklin & Bash to Docket

TNT has ordered the hit legal series Franklin & Bash back to court for a third season. Starring Breckin Meyer and Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Franklin & Bash averaged 4.3 million viewers in its new Tuesday 10 p.m. (ET/PT) timeslot, up 10% over its first season. The buddy drama also averaged 1.8 million adults 18-49 and 2.0 million adults 25-54.

"Franklin & Bash, with its winning cast and some of the sharpest dialogue on television, is a refreshingly clever, light-hearted take on the courtroom drama" said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). "We look forward to spending another season with Breckin, Mark-Paul and the rest of the terrific cast and crew of Franklin & Bash."

Franklin & Bash stars Breckin Meyer as Jared Franklin and Mark-Paul Gosselaar as Peter Bash, two young, fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants street lawyers who caused a seismic culture clash when they joined a legendary, button-down law firm. Jared loves sticking it to authority every chance he gets. Peter, meanwhile, has a knack for connecting with judge and jury any way he can. Malcolm McDowell plays Renaissance man Stanton Infeld, the brilliant and eccentrically spontaneous patriarch of the law firm. Also starring are Reed Diamond, Dana Davis, Garcelle Beauvais and Kumail Nanjiani.

    Oh yeah!

  • iggy

    Excellent.

  • Linda

I don’t feel to good about Leverage’s chance now.

  • Gamma626

Wow, I’m happy, but also kind of surprised at this announcement!

  • Psac

    Nice.

  • kill00

The best legal dramedy out there right now cant wait for more episodes

  • James

Never watchd Leverage…maybe I’ll watch reruns on ION one day…I do liek the actress from cult BBC comedy Coupling. ANyhoo…

Somewhat shocked that F&B is renewed, but the show has been airing reruns Saturday nights at 10pm on TBS and has been updating the Facebook page for the last week or so.

And 4.3 Million views? Um, not Live! Must be DVR numbers included…

  • The Original J

I’m pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think this would happen.

Any word on the number of episodes? I didn’t see that info here or in the EW article.

  • Jared

I’m pretty surprised about this. I wonder what took TNT so long to announce this renewal.

  • Claire

I think it’s on it’s first season in the uk, not sure. Just saw a trailer for it and have to say I’m not impressed. Looks like its been done before just not in a lawyer show. There are loads of lawyer shows, do we really need another? And the guy from Saved by the Bell? Really? PASS!

TNT dont cancel much these days.

  • Rancid Lunchmeat

Whoo Hoo! I was worried about this, one of my favorite shows and one of the best legal comedy/dramas on tv these days.

    This is great news.

Leverage has just about run its course anyway, don’t you think?

  • Nadine

    @John A
TNT dont cancel much these days.
Ain’t that the truth? If it didn’t cancel this dog, it’s probably about to run I Love Lucy reruns. Definitely the very worst scripted show in TV — and its ratings demonstrate. Mystifying decision, unless it’s very very cheap.

Franklin & Bash is a cute show, but I cannot believe TNT has renewed all of their shows but Leverage so far. Leverage is their best show hands down. If they are not going to renew it, they should at least tell the fans.

Nonsense. Its ratings were better than Southland’s.

  • bob

What great news right before the weekend starts. Great job!!!

  • Leverage-Fan

Please TNT, renew “Leverage”, too! The waiting is very frustrating!

  • Ram510

YES! Just when I thought this show was a goner. So happy it’ll be back, but I hope they go back to F&B being a comedy and not a serious lawyer show

  • Cyrax86

This is surprising, I thought it was a lock for cancellation. Wonder how they are going to schedule any new shows next Summer if Leverage comes back as well…

  • Bob

    @Nadine.
I couldn’t agree with you more! I liked Gosselaar in NYPD Blue so I have no
actor bias but the pilot was simply unwatchable and I’m a lawyer show lover.
It was so forced and over the top. Really surprised at its strong ratings but people obviously like this kind of thing.

This is what tv is currently missing…an intelligent law show. Someone should revive A&E’s “100 Centre Street”. God, I loved that show. Great writing, well-drawn characters, cinematography, direction and tight as a glove casting of some incredible character actors. One of tv’s forgotten gems.
