In its fifth season premiere  Fringe was down from last year, earning a 1.1 18-49 rating vs. last season's 1.5 adults 18-49 premiere rating. Last year's season finale earned a 1.0 18-49 rating. Your predictions were about right

Via @MaskedScheduler:

1.1 rating in 18-49 with 3,176 viewers

The night's full ratings will be posted soon.

@coolioni: Really? I liked the “Observer takeover” storyline. Especially the way it was introduced in “Letters of Transit” (which, incidentally, I think would have made a better season finale), Blade Runner-style.

@senor chang: 1.1 for MiJ? If that’s true, then CBS is gonna want to ax that one ASAP. It’ll be the second quick-cancellation victim of the season (after TMD of course.)

down 27% from last year is horrible, fringe fans have no excuses

  • senor chang

The numbers on page 2 are true. The poster works in the industry.

@senor chang: Well, it’s been confirmed anyway on the Friday ratings, so bye-bye MiJ! :D

To fans of Fringe in all universes,

It makes no sense to be upset with trolls, or even respond to them. You won. If anything you should be quietly laughing at them for revealing themselves, like the fans of a team that missed the playoffs making fun of another team that lost in the championship round. Not many shows last this long and it is being allowed to end on more than reasonable terms given its numbers. Also, to trolls, you really do look foolish given all the facts.

Also, it’s fun that a show gets to spend its final season in a parallel TV universe in which ratings don’t matter.

Finally, if the numbers keep dropping, the entire viewing audience will be able to watch the final episode in someone’s loft. Who wants to host?

I think most people gave up in the middle of last season.

The best seasons of Fringe were S1 and S2. JMO.

I believe that “Fringe” pulled a “Babylon 5″ on us. They thought they would be cancelled before last season, so they wrapped up the parallel world storyline too soon. Then, amazingly they were renewed, and scrambled to come up with that mess of a storyline from last season. Knowing it wasn’t working, they’ve now given us “observer-geddon” to wrap up this mini-season. It’s exactly what happened with Babylon 5, when JMS, fearing cancellation, wrapped up the Shadow war a season early, and we were stuck with the abysmal last season when it was actually renewed (JMS has spent the last 15 years denying this though.)

It’s too bad. The “war between parallel universes” was such a great concept, it deserved better.

    Excellent observation.

Fringe is getting closure. Fun to see the ratings for Fringe or any lame duck show. The other Lame Duck so far this season is The Office.

Who even cares? It’s the final season. We don’t need to stress. Besides, the episode kicked ass.

Agreed. I just hope by the end of the season, they explain some of the stuff that’s never been answered from the previous seasons.

It’ll be down lower than that before the show ends its run.

The premise for this season is just brain dead.

  • fringegot5seasons

Last season OH WELL, we have our last 13 episodes to wrap things up, thank you Fox.

Shame it’s not higher since it’s such a great show.

  • Eric_Philly

It’s a shame that so few people watch so awesome a show.

The best Season in my opinion was season 3, and I have a feeling season 5 will come in a very close 2nd place

  • Observer

    Go Observers! heh

  • fringe five

I watch it on stream or dvd buy new episode on amazon. I wonder if they take those views into numbers as with one day out it in the top 20 download amazon

  • Jiji Moran

Now that Katie Holmes is calling Joshua Jackson, maybe more people will be interested in watching him act… ha! Or, maybe not.

I agree with the person who disliked the “observergeddon” turn of events, but I trust that the ending will be worth the cheese.

Fringe was up 10 % to 3.2 million viewers which was better than last year and I have to say fringe always does reall good with dvr because lots of folks watch it the next day or later on that day but it always kicks butt on dvr ratings.
