New Friday Night Addition, Entitled “John Fugelsang: So That Happened,” Takes an Irreverent Look at the Weekly Headlines

Fugelsang's Nightly Series to Premiere Later This Year

New York, October 1, 2012– Beginning Friday, October 5, Current TV will introduce a new weekly show to its lineup entitled “John Fugelsang: So That Happened.” Airing at 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm ET, the hour-long program will serve as a precursor to the comedian's highly-anticipated nightly series, which will premiere later this year. Fugelsang will be commenting on the week's events in news, pop culture, politics and the web, using plenty of video to share his selected highlights and lowlights from the week just ending. Comedian Frank Conniff, best known as Frank from “Mystery Science Theater 3000,” will serve as head writer and will be a frequent contributor to the series.

Commenting on the new program, Fugelsang said: "First I would like to thank Joy Behar, whom I admire enormously, for occasionally letting me sit in her chair. Viewers have come to expect the unexpected from her show and we believe that ‘So That Happened’ will have the same kind of tone and irreverence while discussing what I believe to be some very serious and substantive topics."

Please, please, please, get podcasts of the shows posted on Stitcher. That’s the only way I’ll ever be able to listen in regularly.

  • Bridget A Clooney

    Looking forward to his!

  • Michelle

You need to air this online….who knows how long it will take the cable co. to wake up and air your show.
    Congratulations John!

  • Paul

Rather surprised (and disappointed) to not see any reference to Stephanie Miller in this. Frankly without his weekly appearances on her show I doubt he would be in a position to get his own show.

  • Rick St Thomas

Go John! Glad to see you got your own show. Bill Press, Stephanie Miller, Jennifer Granholm, The young Turks, Joy Behar, John Fugelsang – does it get any better? Go Current TV!

The press release kinda left out the fact that Fugelsang once hosted “America’s Funniest Home Videos” for two seasons.

I’m a big fan of the Stephanie Miller show myself, but it’s heard on the radio and seen on TV during the daytime; John’s biggest tests have been while subbing during prime time on Current and appearing on CNN. I’m not sure one can claim that he got these gigs thru Steph. Jim Ward is a colossal talent but I’ve never seen him alsewhere, although it has been mentioned that he does voices on commercials and animated shows. He should have become the voice-of-doom trailer annoucer for the film industry after Don LaFontaine croaked.

Fugelsang and MST3k’s Frank Conniff as head writer could actually add up to a Current TV show that gets more than 3000 viewers!

  • Vince Fugelsang

Good Luck John with Your New show, I know its going to be GREAT!

  • Bonnie Streit

    Gonna love this!

  • Mary Hand

I am elated. I have watched John on Stephanie Miller and Bill Press and just love him. Yea,Progressives! I also bought the MP3 Sexy Liberal Comedy Show!

  • Lisa

What a great show! The only thing I don’t like is the zoom in and out camera angles. That drives me nuts.

  • Rose M. Samuels

Congratulations John, I truly pray things will take off for you…I just watched the show with Mr.Ed Asner…it was very good…some of the puns seemed out of place…otherwise, it should be around for a while…SWG
