Definitions:
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)
Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Ok listen…
Revenge did AWESOME…3.2??? It averaged like a 2.4 all of last season, best ratings since premiere
OUAT also did awesome, especially since it ended on a 3.4 without football
@John M,
I don’t know that it made the most sense personally, but it made as much sense as moving a show like 5-0 to try and counter program.
Moving 5-0 made less sense because it needs two more seasons for syndication. There wasn’t enough reason to risk hurting the ratings by moving it. (Granted, given how it premiered that’s kind of a moot point, but they didn’t know that when making the schedule.) The Mentalist is already in syndication and CBS doesn’t own it.
Sadly, this will probably be the last season for The Good Wife. Hopefully, the Kings are smart enough to come up with a fitting end to the season that will double as a likely series closer.
@ SJ
I don’t think 10PM is just a problem for ABC. It is a problem for all networks. It is becoming like Friday for network tv. Sure you have Revolution doing well, but most shows are in the low 2s. Once everything settles we will see the reality of the 10PM slot.
If you look at Revenge’s numbers and the Mentalist, there is a 5/10 of a point difference between a 9PM show and a 10PM. When the Mentalist was at 9PM, 3S were the norm. Revenge jump from 2.4s to 3.2. It also shows the benefit of having a good comparable lead-in.
@”How in the hell did the Mentalist do so poorly. Mentalist fans, START WATCHING IT!!”
Perhaps the very predictable and boring Red John arc drove viewers away
…
Once Upon A Time’s a MONSTER! Here’s hoping it continues to do this well!
@colt13
Shows don’t go up when football ends. Most shows have their highest ratings in the fall.
@enes I really don’t think Last Resort is in trouble just yet. They pretty much put the show in what I think is the most competitive night and hour on prime time TV. I hope it remains steady where it is, because it’s definitely a show that deserves to continue.
nothing is working for ABC at 9pm hour since Brothers and Sisters left, Pan Am gone, GCB gone, and now 666 park looks like it wont last long!!!
Seriously, people are worried about Revenge holding up?! What?! I am quite confident it will do just fine!
Was hoping 666 would do ok, but as always, religious fanatics were probably offended (déjà vu to GCB) ahh life is so much more fun without religion, you can enjoy everything!
I feel sad for The Good Wife it’s the greatest drama on broadcasting networks but still these numbers?If the good wife won’t be nominated for golden globe or wont be the following series after super bowl it will get canceled this season.
I’m surprised that 666 didn’t get a bigger sampling. I thought the marketing campaign was quite savvy. Maybe they should have focused more on Annable/Buckley? Left in no man’s land between horror and soap?
I really think if Park Ave gets canceled then SCANDAL should replace it!
“Robert and Bill,
Are TV critics now getting shipped the DVR kool-aid? I’m seeing more and more TV critics tout the DVR numbers from the L+3 and L+7 and say it shows a better snapshot of whether a show will be renewed or not. Please clear this up so I don’t get misinformed.”
DVR koolaid drinking at alarming levels.

@Holly
Moving 5-0 made less sense because it needs two more seasons for syndication.
Except that one would think already being sold into Syndication would be a plus for 5-9
Family guy and the simpsons the highest rated fox shows besides xfactor this week..
Great for Once & Revenge!
How is revenge a meh? Down .1 from the series premiere is pretty damn good
My prediction for Once was right. It did terrific. So damn pleased the audience followed Revenge to Sundays. Hope it holds up. 666 pretty much bombed.
The Good Wife couldnt crack a 2 for its premiere? Pathetic!
10pm
ABC: Park Avenue 2.2, Castle 2.1, Scandal 2.1, Private Practice 1.9
CBS: Elementary 3.1, Vegas 2.5, CSI 2.5, Mentalist 2.1, H5O 1.8, Blue Bloods(F) 1.5
NBC: Revolution 3.4, Parenthood 1.8
In other words:
3.0 is amazing (Revolution, Elementary)
2.5 is great (Vegas, CSI)
2.0 is ok (Mentalist, Castle, Park, Scandal)
<2.0 is bad (Private, H5O, Parenthood)
