DISNEY CHANNEL ORDERS THIRD SEASON OF POPULAR COMEDY

FOR KIDS AND TWEENS, "A.N.T. FARM"

Television's favorite prodigies return for a third season of the Disney Channel comedy series "A.N.T. Farm," it was announced today by Adam Bonnett, Senior Vice President, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide. Production resumes in Los Angeles this December with season three scheduled to premiere in June 2013.

"A.N.T. Farm" takes an exciting turn in the third season when musical prodigy Chyna Parks and her friends, Olive Doyle and Fletcher Quimby plus Lexi Reed, who reveals her own prodigious talent, are accepted to a prestigious A.N.T. (Advanced Natural Talents) boarding school. With an unconventional curriculum and the opportunity to learn from other students in the program, the A.N.T.s strive to take their abilities to the next level.

"'A.N.T. Farm' is a series that was initially inspired by our audience's love for stories about uniquely talented kids," said Bonnett. "Our new direction for season three allows us more opportunities to showcase the A.N.T's, their unique talents and the dedication it takes to follow your dreams."

The series was created by Dan Signer ("The Suite Life on Deck," "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody") and is executive-produced by Signer and Stephen Engel ("The Big Bang Theory," "Mad About You," "Dream On"). Starring are: China Anne McClain as Chyna Parks, Sierra McCormick as Olive Doyle, Jake Short as Fletcher Quimby and Stefanie Scott as Lexi Reed.

"A.N.T. Farm" premiered in June 2011 and ranks as the #1 TV show in its time period to date in K2-11 6-11 and 9-14. In 2Q12 it reached more than 135 million unduplicated viewers worldwide, in 162 countries and in 31 languages.

The "A.N.T. Farm" soundtrack from Walt Disney Records spent five weeks at #1 on the Billboard Kids Album chart and yielded two hits for McClain, "Dynamite" and "Calling All the Monsters," each spending several weeks at #1 on Radio Disney’s Top 30. Additionally, McClain, age 14, is a Hollywood Records recording artist and is currently working on an album with her sisters Sierra and Lauryn. Most recently, McClain Sisters wrote and performed "Rise," this year's Disney Friends for Change anthem, as featured in Disneynature's "Chimpanzee" and "The Great Divide" from the forthcoming Tinker Bell film, "Secret of the Wings."

New episodes of "A.N.T. Farm" air FRIDAYS on Disney Channel. The series is a production of It's A Laugh Productions, Inc and carries a TV-G parental guideline.

YES! I’m glad A.N.T. Farm got renewed.

Now they need to renew Gravity Falls, since that’s the best show on Disney Channel right now.

  • Nathan (NR2012)

They renew Ant Farm but they don’t renew Gravity falls yet? Um..

  • Androme

Don’t worry, Nathan. They will renew Gravity Falls. If not, prepare for a takedown.

  • jamie

Disney channel continues to give the viewers what they want, unlike Sickelodeon. Sickelodeon is too busy cancelling their shows and airing Spongebob most of the time.

  • Nathan (NR2012)

    @Jamie
Hey Jamie – I have a thought! How about you travel to Viacom Headquarters, and tell them that! I’m sure you totally wont be laughed at. (Gotta love my sarcasm)

    ;)

  • Nathan (NR2012)

Anyway.. I think it was really dumb for disney to renew Ant Farm, and not Gravity Falls. That’s like renewing 666 Park Avenue, and cancelling Once Upon A Time.

  • Michael

Come on Disney!! Renew Gravity Falls. That’s one of the three shows I watch.

  • Jon23812

@Nathan, Well Jamie is kind of telling the truth. Nick does cancel good shows, with good ratings, for no reason. Examples:

The Amanda Show, Jimmy Neutron, Danny Phantom, Victorious

  • Jon23812

@Nathan, I think Disney is just slow with renewing Gravity Falls, if Disney actually cancels that show, it would literally be dumb, because they’re still showing Fish Hooks.

  • Nathan (NR2012)

    @Jon23812
Yeah..but there’s no point in being slow to renew a hit animated show. We’ve all seen the ratings and we’ve all come to the conclusion that Gravity Falls Has and needs to be renewed. This show, in my opinion should have got the boot. It averages what.. around 2.7 million viewers (Avg. # From Twist of Fate) and yet gets renewed.

About Victorious: There are a thousand speculations on why Victorious was cancelled, but at the end of the day, the only people who will truly know why it got the boot is Nickelodeon, and probably Dan.

  • Twist Of Fate

@jamie Yes, cause we all want to watch a crappy sitcom that lost to Robot And Monster 3 weeks running. Channel Crap seems to have forgot what put them on the map….CARTOONS.

  • john

No one needs to worry about gravity falls being.g renewed, it averages around like what? High 3 to 4 million viewers

  • Tyler

Good for A.N.T. Farm. Funny show. Same can be said for Gravity Falls which admittedly must skew to an older audience (I’m 26) and It’s funny as hell. Easily; more entertaining than most of their shows and a heck of a lot better than anything Nickelodeon has done with regards to their original cartoons.

Gravity Falls has a very similar “Danny Phantom” vibe to it…in tone, themes, drawing style, and humor; which again is why I’m sure it skews to an older crowd. I hope GF get renewed it. Although I personally think the show would do better in the rating if it were on Nick or Cartoon Network as a “pre-lead-in” for Adult Swim.

Here’s hoping it gets a sophomore season.

  • Tyler

On a related note. I’m kinda glad that Nick’s Victorious got the boot. It should give “House of Anubis” a fighting chance when it returns. Hopefully to gain some viewers. Much like the previously canceled “Unnatural History” (CN series) I think this show still has a lot of potential if it could find it’s audience and a firm footing. It’s a different kind of show that will be interesting to see how it does…in a few months.

  • I luv nickelodeon

Ant farm is a terrible show in my opinion..

  • tobias

i like the actors on ant farm but i hate the show

  • Kaylie

Ant Farm is a great show with great actors. I think they should consider moving it to Sundays and bringing Shake it Up to anchor Fridays.

  • trevor

Good for ANT FARM – a very funny, wacky show that my kids and all my nephews and nieces adore! And people – relax – Disney, like many cable channels, renew shows at different times of the year because all the shows are in different phases of production. Some are starting up a new season, some have just wrapped, some are in the middle. Gravity Falls is a NEW show – when all of their first order airs THEN they will get picked up. But yay for Ant Farm!

  • jamie

What, are you mad because I told the truth? It’s true, Sickelodeon is cancelling a lot of their shows and in a ratings slump while Disney is on a ratings roll. Just look at the press releases for the past four months as proof.

  • CM

Great news for ANT Farm! Interestingly, Carlon Jeffrey (Cameron) is not mentioned in the starring cast, so I wonder if he will not be a part of the new boarding school format in Season 3?
