After starting on the heels of low rated sophomore sitcom Up All Night last week, the Cancellation Bear is just behind equally low rated rookie sitcom Animal Practice. Enjoy the monkey while you can. Both shows are likely to be canceled before the end of the season in May, 2013.
There will be plenty of shows for the bear to eat out of NBC's line up this season. Who'll be next? Stay tuned.
Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ie. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).
(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

They should have put Up All Night, Parks, The Office and 30 Rock on Tuesday. Go On, Animal Practice, 1900 Penn, and The New Normal on Thursday. GWK and Whitney on Friday. With the Dane Cook show in reserve for Thursday and Community on reserve for Tuesday
The monkey-capuchin- was by FAR the best part of this crap show-give him -her?- their own show! And, BTW, Joanna Garcia, I mean Joanna Garcia Swisher- is the new Rena Sofer-a show killer extraordinaire! In fact, I think shes the love child of Rena and the patron saint of shark jumping, Sir Ted McGinley!
Why don’t they give new shows a chance to find an audience? I TiVo all my shows, so I don’t necessarily watch commercials, in doing so, it takes time and word-of-mouth for me to watch a program and catch on. I am seriously thinking about not watching any new series until it survives its first year and goes to DVD. The humor in Animal Practice reminds me of Scrubs—a successful show, plus that monkey is indeed talented!!!
Can’t wait for the bear to eat the monkey, at least that will be funny.
Too bad we didn’t have this site in 1981 when the bear ate the monkey named Bear. Isn’t it ironic? Don’cha think?
so much for the “highest testing pilot ever”
I think we can go on ahead and add Go On and New Normal to this. Two failures right there.
Parenthood is one of the best shows on television. Next weeks episode is going to be amazing and why are people not watching this show?
What happened to the 5 smiley faces for Grimm from last season? They should still be there since the ratings are the same from last year
I think “The Monkey” deserves a couple of weeks more than “The Mob Doctor”.
I like Animal Practice. It reminds me of an animal Scrubs type of show. I think the reason why it’s probably not making it is because you have that weird lady with a ball in her head, and maybe the Chinese guy looks weird.

@…. do no harm is a one-hour drama
@Carlos. Ah..I guess it’ll just be Do No Harm at 9:00PM.
I am surprised with no green faces. Grimm is a great friday night show for NBC and I think Go On is funnier than all of Matthew Perry’s former shows combined.
Animal Practice – Fire the human actors and replace with cute talking animals. What the heck – can’t be worse.
@NCJeff That should be her new nickname, Joanna Garcia, Show Killer
New Normal = Worst Show Ever
Did you see Animal Practice Wednesday? Hilarious! Way funnier than the season premiere which I thought was really good but this past one was freakin comedy! The monkey and the cast is diverse and hysterical!
I am not sure why more people especially families don’t watch Animal Practice. My kids love the monkey and so does my husband. My parents in Chicago say its their new favorite show. There are no name stars on the show but the comedic acting and chemistry between the cast and the animals is superb.
Maybe it’s not an amazing comedy like Parks and rec, but I like Animal Practice…I hope it will be renewed.
