Poll: Will the 'Supernatural' Premiere be Perfect Debate Counterprogramming?

Supernatural returns tonight. The CW has made the interesting choice to premiere it while the big four are airing the first Presidential Debate making it the only broadcast counterprogramming. The last time that happened -- when the CW aired America's Next Top Model opposite the Stand Up to Cancer telethon, the network actually won its time period in the fast nationals. While there is, to put it mildly, a lot more interest in the debate, it's not going to be as tough as competing head-to-head with its usual Wednesday night at 9PM adversary,  Modern Family.

Last season, when it aired Friday's at 9PM, Supernatural premiered to a 0.8 adults 18-49 rating on September 23,2011. The season finale on May 19 got a 0.7 in adults 18-49. So how will the brothers fare tonight?

  • The End

    I went for between 0.6-0.7

Mostly because the CW has produced absolutely dire numbers lately, and while I don’t think Supernatural will produce these kinds of numbers I do think it’l premiere to an average result. Like 1.5 million 0.6 or something.

@Fake Me Out and Richard Steven Hack

If you really think American politicians are Monsters, I think Indian politicians are Lucifers. Each and everyone of them. At least America is not suffering from horrible problems like Hunger and Lack of shelter. It’s too sad that in India, many including kids still sleep on roads, that too hungry. Our politicians are capable looting public money, in a ways you and I can’t even think of. According to the estimates it is at least $15 Billion dollars, looted from Government’s treasury. At least, you be satisfied with your politicians.

I’M GOING OVER THE TOP HERE I think w/ success of Revolution, maybe some new fans + returning avid fans, a 1.2+ is definitely within reach.

  • The End

@a 1.2+ is definitely within reach.

Only in the land of fairies, unicorns, rainbows and magical fluffy clouds will Supernatural ever reach 1.2 or above.

    @ Tessa

I knew you’d adjust! Keep posting & take care of the end for me! (Smiley face goes here).

  • Kaylie

The CW needs one of the dirty, gritty reality shows (like MTV) to get a hit. Unfortunately, thats what they need.

  • The End

Ah, someone doesn’t have a sense of humor I see. I didn’t comment here to have a disagreement with dellusional fanboys thinking the show will magically double the numbers it received on Friday, I just gave an honest assessment of what I believe the show will get.

  • Tessa

I’m a little out of it today (just came out of a long, boring meeting.) Would you mind elaborating???

  • The End

He got upset that I mocked(In a light hearted way) his comment about the show getting 1.2 18-49. Some people are too serious these days.

    @ Tessa

Sat’s post when you were bummed about the lack of the genre thread. You can pull all the hair you want now!

    @ The End

I wasn’t upset about your comment at all. I agree w/ Tessa’s guess & stated why I felt a little stronger. No hard feelings intended.

  • The End

Rightio. No problem. I’ve given my opinion and shall comment on this topic tommorow once the ratings are out.

Just assumed with your ‘take care of the end’ comment aimed at Tessa that I had offended you. None was intended, I just was adding some humor to this topic :)

If Supernatural consistently hit 0.7 on Friday nights with a low rated lead in (I like Nikita but it was consistently a 0.6 or lower), I can’t imagine it getting lower than that, but I suspect it will most likely be in the 0.9-1.0 range, perhaps higher after Arrow premieres. I like the idea of having an action Wednesday since it effectively counter programs against ABC comedies, Singing Competitons on Fox, CBS’s Survivor and crime procedurals, and NBC’s comedy/procedurals.

I have been waiting, it seems forever, for SPN to come back. Am recording the debate and watching my favorite TV series, SPN.

If your politicians have only snagged 15$ billion then they need to use some of that to take a trip over here and learn how to do it right from the big boys (& gals) … hunger and homelessness may be a bigger problem over there than here but it’s still a large problem … heck in the USA 47% of the people are hopeless and require the government to keep them alive. If HoD could pull in a .7 and 1.56 last night even with the problems in NY, I’m guessing SPN, which always came in higher than HoD can do a .9-1.0. Too bad money always messes up entertainment.

Well I came home from work tonight to find my tv,internet, and home phone service all out. Called the provider and cannot get a tech out until tomorrow aft, even though they have determined the problem is with the line OUTSIDE my building…so much for the premium emergency service I supposedly get. So I won’t be able to watch SPN.
And, being in Canada, it’s not on demand either…not that I have internet anyway. So upset right….the ONE night of the entire year I did not need this to happen!
But anyway, I predict 1.1 for tonight.

  • Nick

    The Middle- 2.7
    The Neighbors- 1.7

    Survivor- 2.9

    Oh Sit!- 0.5
    Supernatural- 1.1

    The X Factor- 3.0

    Animal Practice- 1.0
    Guys With Kids- 1.3
