    Wow…amazing. 10 pm is dead only on broadcast tv.

  • srfan

    That is an absurdly long and involved press release.

    “That is an absurdly long and involved press release.”

    While we post stuff like this directly, and its fine with the networks that we do, it’s not really written for public consumption in this form.

    “Wow…amazing. 10 pm is dead only on broadcast tv.”

    Repeat after me, 70% of the adults 18-49 watching TV during primetime are watching something other than big English broadcast networks.

  • DW

    who knew that men 18-49 and men 25-54 would be into a soap about bikers.

  • silvit

    @DW

    C’mon, men are into anything about bikes. And while I get your soap comment, it’s really not a cheesy one à la ABC or Lifetime. Those are cheesy, cliché, melodramatic soaps.

    By the way, I’m a woman and I watch SOA. ;-)

    @Bill

    I know, but that was worth repeating, since in the other thread they keep repeating that at 10pm nobody is watching live tv. :D

    It’s hard to take the Emmy’s seriously when this show and Breaking Bad get crapped on for Homeland.

  • SOA Fan

    I would like to respond to DW’s comment that SOA is “a soap about bikers”. Given the nature of the internet, not being able to hear how the tone in their voice would have been, I am assuming he believes that SOA is just another mindless drama.

    However, SOA is based on Hamlet. Kurt Sutter, the creator of the show, has publicly stated that the framework for the series is based on Hamlet. Personally, I believe that it does not get any critical acclaim because of Sutter’s attitude to the people who vote for the awards (Kathy Sagal did win a Golden Globe in 2011 for Best Performance of a Female in a TV Series).

    If anyone who has not watched this show, and likes other shows such as Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones, then you need to watch this show.

    Bill,

    Any idea exactly what FX is hoping to get from these sort of press releases? Do media outlets actually need so much detailed information about how one random episode (meaning not a season premiere or finale) fared in the Nielsens?

    I will admit it is interesting to see that FX has had 135,077 telecasts since it launched. That is not a statistic you see everyday.

  • TV Gord

    Shakespeare was one of the original soap opera writers!

  • debbie

    i missed it anyway to see it again??

    Grown up around Hell’s Angel.S O A is very close to real life. It bring back alot good times.

  • Sonic

    That episode was sick! My band “The Chimpz” was the band you heard during that chase scene after the beginning. Love this show!

    I think there’s going to be a time when people are going to pay money to air their commercials the same way they do for the Super Bowl. There were some pretty interesting new commercials during the season premiere a few weeks ago that made me think that….then I see something like this, I’m just saying.
