Poll: Which Yet-to-Premiere Show Will Save the Season?

Categories: Broadcast TV

Let's face facts. It was a dismal premiere week for the broadcast networks, with numerous highly promoted new shows flopping. The Cancellation Bear is the only mammal who is happy with the new fall line up. But all is not lost. There are plenty of new shows that have yet to premiere. One of them could be a breakout, game changing hit. One of them could be the show that *cue dramatic music* saves network television. Take your best guess in the poll, then explain your reasoning in the comments.

Nashville and Arrow are my picks and now that I see the results, I am not alone, lol!

  • DW

arrow. all it has to a 1.3 and its a hit.

  • Chris

If anyone is interested the first episode of Nashville is on Hulu.

  • DW

    oops forgot do is. lol

  • Oneeye

Arrow and beauty and the beast look good
but the cw won’t save anyone I think(

  • Raykov

Nashville. Revenge did well last year in that time slot and Connie Britton is now the must-see actress on TV. I guess it will debut with around 10 milion viewers and 3.3 rating and then it will drop and keep 8 milions in viewers and 2.5 in rating.

Arrow has the opportunity to show that the CW can still alunch a ‘hit’ show — which in CW-speak means one that does as well as or hopefully better than the Vampire Diaries.

I don’t see any of the rest of them setting the ratings on fire . . . .

Really? WHo said so? ABC commercials?

PS – the following will not do a huge number long term – it’s a disturbing subject matter requiring people to invest in it long term.

  • MattM

    Also voting for The Following.

  • RMH

You should have added some of the mid-season shows too.

  • Ram510

I pick Nashville since ABC can premiere a show very well and it could be this years Revenge. I don’t trust anything on CW since they can’t seem to crack a 1.0 most days. And it’s tough to trust NBC’s dramas however Revolution is currently doing well but SVU, Chicago Fires lead in, isn’t too hot right now

i think arrow could do good things for cw. at least give it another stable show that won’t neccessarily be on the bubble all the time. vamp diaries needs some company.

i’ve said before that nashville will be the revenge of this season. which doesn’t make it a savior, but if it can provide decent ratings for abc in a 10 pm timeslot, it kind of is for them.

unfortunately, i think beauty/beast is likely DOA.

i like mamie gummar, but see above. though if those heart of dixie fans tune in for it, it could end up surviving the season.

chicago fire will go down in flames sooner rather than later.

    malibu country. pfft. seriously?

    Thank you, Chris.

I saw Chicago Fire and Emily Owens and they are no saviors.

-no, everyone who has ever seen friday night lights or american horror story.

  • Andy

I picked Nashville, but I don’t want to see any of the new shows listed. Or any of the new shows that have already premiered :/

  • Josh

    That list is pathetic.

  • John_M

-no, everyone who has ever seen friday night lights or american horror story.

And both of those shows were rating monsters. Big deal.

I remember the joey spin off because everyone loved Matt LeBlanc – how’d that work out.

Not for nothing – but Connie Britton had the pleasure of working with great writers on FNL – now – Callie Khouri wrote one INCREDIBLE movie and one movie I loved but was criticially and financially panned.

Connie Britton isn’t drawing eye balls – honestly – looking at the talentless Hayden Panettiere as she sleeps her way to country stardom probably appeals to more people (especially 18-49) than connie britton reprising her role as a bitchy put upon southern woman – but this time with a lot more money

  • Kissan

Nashville, Chicago Fire and Emily whats her name first episodes are all on hulu?

  • gerry

    @ john

i’m not saying that connie britton is manna from heaven (though personally, i think she’s fantastic, having done well by two well crafted roles and the people who watched her on FNL followed to AHS and will follow her to NV), i’m simply saying that its more than just abc execs aren’t the only people saying it, which was your original conjecture.

  • gerry

(typo – more than just abc execs saying it)
