sorry 2.3>2.0
Scandal sucks next to Revenge
Glee changed the tv landscape indelibly and nothing else. Don’t fu(k with me!
the office didnt do better than Go On, they have the same demo but Go On has much more viewers so GO ON WINS
@Nick: But The Mentalist was in its 4th season. Elementary is getting the same ratings in its first. And that’s bad.
Yah, PoI beat it’s 2.9 from last week and was only adjusted down 0.1 to 3.0
Last Resort got a bit closer to that 2.0, lets see what happens next week.
off-topic but finally watched Supernatural… as others have said it’s gone back to it’s roots and now glad I gave it another chance now after season 7. Next thing I know I’ll cave into my brother’s nagging and start watching Fringe again.
It will almost certainly get a full season pick-up, but it’s way too soon to feel confident in Elementary. It had quite a big drop from its premiere and it’s losing both total viewers and members of the key demo from the lead-in POI, unlike The Mentalist which pretty much retained POI’s audience last season. Plus now there will be a break in any momentum it has due to the debates next week.
In comparison, last year at this time/same time slot, The Mentalist’s second episode got a 2.6/13 million (with a lead-in of 2.7 from POI), which is still slightly better than what Elementary is doing now, even though The Mentalist was up against a then-strong Private Practice (which got a 2.8). Elementary is up against weaker competition (Scandal’s 2.0 and NBC not even competing) and with POI as an even stronger lead-in (3.0) than this time last year. So why is it only doing a 2.5 and 11 million overall? With POI’s numbers and its competition, it should at least be doing a 2.7 right now to survive IMO.
I’m wondering if it might be this year’s Unforgettable, which remember premiered strong (2.9/14 million) and had almost the exact same drop off its second week (to 2.5). Except that Unforgettable earned its 2.5 against stronger competition (Parenthood’s 2.2 and Body of Proof’s 1.8). Unforgettable held pretty steady, even against Parenthood and Body of Proof’s pretty consistent 2.0s, until late winter, and we all know what happened then. If Elementary drops down to 2.2 I predict it won’t be renewed. I see no reason why they’d keep it when POI is doing so well and they know The Mentalist can retain POI’s numbers.
Scandal is one of the most steadiest shows. I can’t remember anything other than a 2.1. If it keeps this trend going, it will have a season three. Its the best 10 h show for abc (dont know about 666 but it will drop below 2.0 soon)
@Kissan
So the Simpsons, a 24 year old show, gets the highest rated demo on FOX this week? What a shame.
Simpsons gets NOTHING! IT`s all about football
Now Last Resort will be renewed for sure lol
@Timotey
Remember that ratings are dropping every season, so there is no point comparing The Mentalist’s 4th season to Elementary’s 1st when The Mentalist started 4 seasons ago!
@rob60990
But ABC never have a stupid scheduling idea and put Grey’s Anatomy up against the Grammy’s like they did with DH!
technicaly last resort gotten a 2.0 because of that 6 in the end you round it of to the nearest tenth
2.5 men is much much better than last season im sad that the numbers are down, walden is kinda funny this season but the story line and how they got rid of zoey (i hated her btw) is very good and the last episode was very funny in my opinion people should return to watching the show because its becomeing better and i dont think they will end it this season and if they do atleast it goes in a high note quality wise.
I’m so happy for Parks and Rec, it’s the best tv show.
Revenge Rules and Scandal Druels!!! Period
What took the place of Charlie’s Angels on abc after it was cancelled and how did it do in the ratings?
Someone earlier mentioned that moving Last Resort to Wednesdays at 8 would be a good idea, and although I agree with many that it’s not really an 8 pm show, I think it might do well against Survivor and nbc comedies.
@Eridapo
With you on Revenge. I thought it was a great beginning but as the thing got murkier and murkier with no end in sight, I was bored and stopped watching. It’s caught “Lostitis” — which made Lost tiresome (to me, at least) too. I don’t think producers would be doing all this murky endless stuff (Mentalist is another example) if it weren’t for the huge success of Lost a few years ago. But apparently you can’t catch lightning in a bottle.
Regardless of falling ratings this year, I do think it’s pretty clear that Elementary is retaining a smaller percentage of POI’s audience than The Mentalist did. Especially in total viewers, I’m pretty sure TM never went down by 3 million. I think it was more the 1 million range. I think that CBS expected the audience for The Mentalist to stick with this show, which is apparently similar, but that certainly does not apply to me. I like to watch a variety of types of shows, not all the same thing.
@Nick – “Actually, last year Grey’s was the # 2 drama to NCIS. Truthfully, GA did better in the Live+7 Day ratings, but NCIS was king in L+SD (3.75 to 3.56).”
No, NCIS won in total viewership for best drama, but Grey’s Anatomy won in the key demo for best drama—which, as you know, is what matters. — http://tvline.com/2012/05/25/tv-season-rankings-2011-2012-sunday-night-football-american-idol/ … http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/05/24/final-list-of-2011-12-season-tv-show-ratings-sunday-night-football-tops-followed-by-american-idol-the-voice-modern-family/135747/
