And WE ALL LOVE BEAR! Thanks to the people adding Bear to this awesome team. Best show. Best team. Best script.
Grey’s still going pretty strongly. Certainly more strongly than Desperate Housewives in its eighth season- but, Grey’s doesn’t have football to contend with, either.
@JR
You’ve never heard of Thursday Night Football?
I think H50 would be a better fit with POI, but I can see why CBS doesn’t want to waste that spot on an older show.
Last Resort is down from last week (against a very weak 30 Rock premiere). I want it to succeed, too (it never will in this time period) but why are people excited about this number? This sub is sinking.
How could anybody disagree that Scandal is quality television? Great acting, great writing what more could you ask for
@SJ
Why do you hate Scandal so much
Last Resort is one of those shows that has fairly decent acting (even Scott Speedman, the most boring actor in Hollywood, isn’t doing too badly in this one) and production values but is still going to die due to almost complete implausibility.
I mean, really, the Russians try to steal the sub after murdering the entire crew? That’s nearly as ridiculous as the initial premise. If they’d said the Chinese, it might have been minimally plausible. If they’d said Pakistan – which, since they nuked Pakistan, would at least make SOME sense – it would have been plausible. But Russia? That was just stupid.
Autumn Reeser’s character is becoming my favorite on the show. Smart, ruthless, hot beyatch! Jessy Schram is the complete opposite of her Falling Skies evil alien-controlled traitor, but still not bad.
The show is doomed, however.
None of that changes the fundamental fact that its ratings are terrible and are vastly more likely to fall than grow.
NBC aren’t going to eat up 2.5 seasons worth of awful ratings for the prospect of syndication. The numbers don’t add up (not least because NBCUniversal aren’t Sony Pictures Television).
Oh, and Person of Interest was great this week. Root will be back, which is great because Amy Acker is great.
“Grey’s still going pretty strongly. Certainly more strongly than Desperate Housewives in its eighth season- but, Grey’s doesn’t have football to contend with, either.”
Yet DH would have its worst ratings in the spring when football was over.
I watch last resort on HULU, I don’t have DVR, and my family watches Bing Bang and 2.5 Men religiously. I wonder how do HULU numbers figure into this?
@Richard Steven Hack
Shows don’t die due to implausibility.
They die ’cause they suck!
@ Ram510
Scandal, quality television? Entertaining at times yes, but I would not call it quality television. It is too contrived and over the top. I mean last night we had the character Huck going to a support group because he is thinking about cutting up people is afraid that he might act on those impulses. That story-line might work on a show about serial killers but a show about a D.C. crisis manager, that is a bit much. Shonda Rhimes seems to be coming up with any outrageous story-line she can think of just to get people to watch. I must admit that she succeeds at times because I actually liked last night’s episode. I was almost about to quit watching after the season two premiere.
Pity last resort is not stronger, interesting concept.
Not at all, MrK. ABC won’t earn enough money from Hulu to justify keeping any show it wouldn’t otherwise keep.
So the Simpsons, a 24 year old show, gets the highest rated demo on FOX this week? What a shame.
I wonder how many of you criticizing Scandal actually watch it? I at least watched Elementary, I just thought it was boring.
I think Hawaii Five 0 would fit better at 10 on Thursday night..they almost have to switch nights at the end of the season…and CBS shows were all a bust…Vegas and Elementary are ok as Partners and Made in Jersey are absolutesy horrific….
@mmel
I am an unusual case when it comes to Scandal. I find that most people either love it or hate it. I have watched every episode and I like certain elements but I dislike the overall direction of the show. I see the show reaching a creative dead end sometime soon because of the choices made by Shonda Rhimes.

I can understand your point of view, even if I don’t agree with it. I actually like the direction of the show,I find it exciting and can’t wait to see what happens next. I usually don’t watch t.v except for Criminal Minds and and Scandal. I thought I would give Elementary a chance since I liked the premise. I at least can respect your opinion since you have watched scandal and know what you are talking about.
