Renew/Cancel: The Road So Far (Through October 7, 2012)

Categories: Bubble Watch

October 7th, 2012

I'm still not sure what the plans are for "Bubble Watch" but at minimum will publish a weekly table indicating which shows have been renewed and canceled so far.

A few of you have asked me what has surprised me the most this season and so far nothing really has surprised me. But if we make it to this time next week and no shows have been cancelled/pulled off the schedule yet, that will surprise me a bit.

As ever, when it comes to renewals, we're talking about for next season. That shows like Revolution and Go On have received full season pickups for this season is not surprising but is of course great news for fans! But that's not the same thing as being renewed for another season.

For Bubble Watch and R/C fans who like all the "likely" and "certain" designations and miss them below, you can fill them in on your own!  Despite lack of designations,  the list below isn't in alphabetical order and there is actually a rhyme and reason to my sort order below that is pretty easy to figure out.

As usual, shows that haven't aired yet aren't in the list and the list focuses only on scripted shows.

I’m curious why you put Private Practice over Scandal for renewed. I would think PP will be gone this year with Kate leaving and the ratings not doing too well.

All in all–I don’t like to make predictions because it is way too early for it and the official announcement don’t come out until May and that’s a while from now. Anything can happen so I’ll sit back and watch.

Either the Bubble Watch or R/C Index needs to be cut to less than once a week.

Say, once every other week or once every month.

Regarding CBS & CW , these are a lot harder for me given that many shows could cease production just to give way to something that is fresher. But there are some productions that are a no brainer for renewal.
SuperNatural – easily comes back if the actors are willings
The following CBS Shows will get another season if the casts are wiling –
NCIS, 2 Broke Girls, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men, NCIS LA, Mike & Molly, Criminal Minds, Person of Interest, Blue Bloods, Hawaii Five-O

Doesn’t the search engines penalize you heavily for reusing words so much?

I agree. This should come out weekly starting in April, maybe late March. Right now it is way too early and definitely not worth it since few networks are giving out Renewals for next season already.Majority of these show will stay blank (minus predictions) until May when the networks officially put out the word.

    i was right yesterday

I am predicting the ratings for The Mentalist are going to low tomorrow. This show was losing viewers last year with the constant Red John themes after the storyline should have been ended, and after tonight’s weird show they will have lost many more viewers.

This is sad because it used to be a great show, and had the perfect ending for the Red John storyline, with a great actor playing Red John. It fit the story line, and the Law and The Mentalist chasing Red John could make mistakes and keep going, but if Red John ever made a mistake or miscalculation – that would be the end of him. Then the writers ran out of ideas and kept the Red John storyline going, very bad.

The writers clearly ran out of ideas and gave up last year, and this year the show has been horrible. They should not even been calling it the The Mentalist anymore, it is nothing like the show it once was.

I predict the ratings will keep falling and it will be canceled by CBS

@Cargis: though it looks like cancelled and renewed are in there dozens of times, each discrete show tag is treated separately. That said, I’m not very keen on the way things display just from a visual point of view!

@Justin & @Bookworm: I can guarantee that you’re both going to be disappointed by frequency then. Fortunately you have the right to read them only every other week, or once a month or not until March if you choose! :)

The empty chart has a sweet innocence to it, when all the unloved shows can still dream of blossoming and have yet to look like berry bushes to the cancellation bear.

Franklin & Bash is back!!!!! Great news. Good script (wit), good actors and just plan fun. I was Boston Legal fan and think this show is funnier…..

  • geo pf

Scandal is good tv. Soapy with body, just started watching and love it….

  • geo pf

The Good Wife is a quality show. I am not all about the current story line with going bankrupt. They need to move on with that — acting is awesome….

  • John Ryder

all i care about right now, is a season 3 of hell on wheels plus or minus

  • Grimman

Lot’s of good shows this season. I hope the bubble watch is like last year.

  • Jerrison

“Made in Jersey”, is cancelled. “CSI: NY”, will be back in its previous time slot.

  • cris

    made in jersey already cancelled
