Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

well, ABC wins at least one night a week, kinda lame day though :-P

The Buckeyes rock! But, wouldn’t one network of decent, alternate programming attract other viewers? The networks could take turns each week who shows what. I know, viewers don’t matter, all about that extra rating point. Still, fewer viewers = fewer rating points no matter how it’s spun.

    It wasn’t a repeat of Elementary at 9 ?

well, ABC wins at least one night a week, kinda lame day though

They’ve won almost every single Friday since the beginning of the summer. Sat isn’t their only good day.

@Dean_W, that’s what I saw when flipping between the college games.

Hope they promoted 666 park avenue! Great show, if you haven’t tried it yet, you really should!

  • Stella

I thought it was an elementary repeat at 9?

ABC isn’t doing horribly. I would be more concerned for the long haul of the season if I was CBS.

Once football is over, ABC will take Sunday too.

I am predicting the ratings for The Mentalist are going to low tomorrow.

This show was losing viewers last year with the constant Red John themes, and after tonight’s weird show they will have lost many more viewers.
The writers clearly ran out of ideas and gave up last year, and this year the show has been horrible. They should not even been calling it the The Mentalist anymore, it is nothing like the show it once was.

I predict the ratings will keep falling and it will be canceled by CBS

I am predicting the ratings for The Mentalist are going to low tomorrow. This show was losing viewers last year with the constant Red John themes after the storyline should have been ended, and after tonight’s weird show they will have lost many more viewers.

This is sad because it used to be a great show, and had the perfect ending for the Red John storyline, with a great actor playing Red John. It fit the story line, and the Law and The Mentalist chasing Red John could make mistakes and keep going, but if Red John ever made a mistake or miscalculation – that would be the end of him. Then the writers ran out of ideas and kept the Red John storyline going, very bad.

The writers clearly ran out of ideas and gave up last year, and this year the show has been horrible. They should not even been calling it the The Mentalist anymore, it is nothing like the show it once was.

I predict the ratings will keep falling and it will be canceled by CBS
