Deadline is reporting that three additional scripts have been ordered for new comedy The Neighbors. While scripts don't always translate into episodes, this certainly could be encouraging news for those hoping for a full series pickup for the alien comedy.

    “for those hoping for a full series pickup for the alien comedy”

    So… nobody?

  • The End

    Baffles me how anyone could write 3 additional scripts for this series, when its entirely likely the show will be cancelled before going to camera.

    That said, the writers will get paid for their scripts regardless, so its a win win situation there.

    good for them. i think it will be up this week once MF is back.

    I dont get the hate for this show i mean all ABC comedies are unwatchable so whats different about this one?

  • AnaSu

    Maybe if they hired Robin Williams as Mork, brought back Alf and the cast of Third Rock from the Sun, it would help.

    @John A

    Not everyone shares your refined taste in television. And personally my comment wasn’t in anyway hateful. I just think this show is badly written.

    I think ABC wants to see if the writers can go somewhere creatively with it, and that’s not a good sign.

    NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

    Desperation time….

    I really liked the 2nd episode and I hope it continues to get better because I want to see this show succeed

    Its weird so many comedy flops are surviving. The fox disasters just got more episodes and ABC renew Apt 23 and HE last year with dismal numbers too. At least with NBC they are keeping their losers for syndication why the other networks being kind?

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    @The End Ok not all ABC Comedies are bad like Modern Family and the Middle but thats it. Dump the rest i say ABC.

  • The End

    @John A

    Personally I’ve recently started following Modern Family. While the show isn’t the greatest on TV, it’s oddly watchable. The Middle is just a fairly average family type show.

    The Mexican lady, the jokes that seem focused on her accent earlier on do seem kinda old though. The way Modern Family has 2 dating males living together with the kid is kinda unique, as it’s not in your face but is actually alright.

    I wouldn’t put either show on the same level as The Neighbors personally but respect your opinion.

    saw 2 episodes and that was enough for me. The networks state of desperation is clear. Clearly they have nothing better in the pipeline and so have no choice but to order more episodes of failing shows.

    Has there been a brain drain the US in the last few years. I know we get crappy shows but this year, it seems to have peaked. Thank god for the Brits as at least some good shows like Dr Who

  • Ram510

    Seriously, ABC is losing it

    Each of the first 2 episodes had one actual laugh in it for me (in the first episode, it was the wife yelling, “Take him!” about the husband, when they were all cowering in bed together in fear of the aliens…)

    But just having one actual laugh-out-loud moment in a sitcom episode still puts it ahead of almost every sitcom on air these days. Even “Modern Family” can’t seem to manage that anymore.

    Its a sad sad day for televison when we found out this show could be sticking around even longer!! :/

    Paul Lee has picked up some very awful comedies in the last two years and neighbors is probably the worst.
