The Friday debuts of Community and Whitney are on hold indefinitely. Both were originally scheduled to premiere on Friday, October 19. No decision yet on when they will air, or on what night but I wouldn't bet on having to wait too long after the ratings for this Wednesday's Animal Practice and Guys With Kids or Thursday's ratings for Up All Night and 30 Rock come out to learn when Community and Whitney will air...
A statement from NBC makes it sound like the decision is about focusing their promotional efforts where it will make the most difference. It's hard for me to buy that's really the case. If a show like Animal Practice couldn't thrive after months of promotion including tons of promotion during the Olympics, I can't see how focusing more promotion on it makes sense. Here's the statement from NBC:
“Given the success we’ve had for the past four weeks – including winning the first week of the season in A18-49 — we’ve decided to continue to concentrate our promotional strength on our new NBC shows that are scheduled Monday through Wednesday and have therefore decided to hold Community and Whitney from their previously announced premieres of October 19th. Without having to launch these comedies on Friday at this time, we can keep our promotion focused on earlier in the week — plus we will have both comedies in our back pocket if we need to make any schedule changes on those nights. When we have a better idea of viewing patterns in the next few weeks, we will announce new season premieres of Whitney and Community.”

Could NBC also move “Grimm” away from Fridays to a midweek slot, and run reality shows on Fridays from 8 to 10 P.M. (Eastern/Pacific)??
@Jake
You want to keep Rock Center and Guys with Kids but dump Parks and Rec??? The goal is better ratings not worse right?
Also you might want to leave How I Met Your Mother on CBS, its the third highest comedy on the network on the Renew/Cancel Index and fourth show overall for CBS. Despite the decline in quality the past season it is still a good ratings draw.
OK.
Tuesday:

If you love these shows and want to save them from the AX at @nbc come to #tellybumdotcom and tell the world!!! tellybum.com where everyone has a voice and can save their shows!! #tellybumdotcom!!
good question about Rock Center, why does NBC have this program on. It has very low ratings that will never get better.
NBC does not care about ratings, they only care about the expense of shows.
Very bad management at NBC, with tanking ratings will continue to drop, so revenue will continue to drop, and that is why NBC make a billion dollars less than other networks.
@Jake
Like your idea of switching comedies around but replace Rob with How I Met Your Mother due to the fact Rob is cancelled!
Just put the 2 failures Animal Practice and UAN together on Friday to burn them off. Then move Whitney to Wednesday at 8 and Community to Thursday at 830. Problem solved. They gotta make a move before November sweeps
Now hurry up and put Community back on the air!
Here’s what I think happens. Wednesdays lead off with a 30 minute Rock Center followed by Animal Practice, Off their Rockers, and 30 Rock. SVU moves to the leadoff spot on Friday night followed by Grimm and Biggest Loser. Thursdays are now Animal Practice, Community, Parks and Rec, and Up All Night. Biggest Loser splits over 2 nights with episodes on both Thursday and Friday at 10. The Office is ending, so pair it up with Guys with Kids and burn off on Saturdays. Maybe pair it up with Fear Factor and Hannibal on Saturdays.
@Oliver
Name one show that has gotten a bump from SNL before. And the viewers come back four days after Saturday.
for crying out loud – just bring back Fraiser or Cheers – those were funny!
Didn’t NBC say the having 2012 Olympics on NBC would help their regular season schedule. I guess that didn’t work out, a lot of people saw their advertising for NBC shows and decided they were bad.
They finished as the number one network in weeks one and two of the season after finishing last the previous season. Yeah it definitely didn’t work out for them at all. I am curious as to what your analysis of the other networks would be since you are so harsh on the network that is UP double digits, when all the other networks are DOWN double digits. Get real.
I think there’s a good chance Whitney replaces Animal Practice before long.
Community, on the other hand, may be kept in reserve until Spring 2013 while NBC sees just how the season is settling.
I could see Community go head to head with 2.5 Men. As long as they don’t go head to head with Big Bang Theory as BBT just destroyed them last year. Two And A Half Men is running out of fuel like a NASCAR vehicle in a long green-white-checker finish. What will NBC put at 8 eastern on Fridays? Wonder how a Biggest Loser/Grimm combo would work? Too extreme??
NBC being NBC.
I heard Guys With Kids was going to be named DILF’S but they changed it because it was too risque. This was stupid, NBC gets a younger audience, and many of them would have been intrigued by that title. Dumb mistakes…
NBC being NBC because Community and Whitney are worthless shows not worth the marketing $ now. They can plug some holes in the dam later.
Is there a reason the two Russo Bros piles of junk weren’t paired up together in the first place? Oh, right, because the monkey tested through the roof so that guaranteed a hit. Silly me.
Can I just tell you about this embarrassment of a network for a second? They spend all of last development season looking for a multi-cam companion for “Whitney.” Then after picking up a new multi-cam companion for “Whitney,” they almost cancel “Whitney” so that they can make room for their 5000 new shows (but the laughless, viewerless, fanless “Up All Night,” THAT was never in doubt). Then, even though they now have 2 multi-cams which could easily be paired up in an hour, like any monkey with a schedule board could do, they make the most sensible pairing since Spam on caviar — and “Whitney” gets dumped with a “wacky” single-cam show for dateless losers. Let me guess what time slot upgrade they’re planning for it? Saturdays?
Hope AP is done after this week or next week and they can get Whitney in there for Nov. 7th.
