Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    Oops, seven!

  • Nick

Why no link when I wrote Fan Excuse Bingo ? Was it the exclamation mark?

  • Ultima

    @Emily
be interesting to see the 1/4 hour break-downs for the CBS shows, to see how/if starting on the half hour hurt them

Hurt them compared to what? This is the same way CBS has been scheduling Sunday nights for years.

  • Precious

YAY!! The Cleveland Show manages to pull a much higher rating in that timeslot even though it’s out of primetime!

It was the only animated show not to get picked up for another production cycle, I’m hoping FOX will reconsider in light of its current performance.

I still think that it should swap timeslots with Bob’s Burgers, however. That show sucks!

  • bongstradamus

666 is TERRIBLE. Its so bad its not even good in a campy way. I’d much rather be watching Terra Nova.

@Precious, primetime begins an hour earlier on Sunday.

“Why no link when I wrote Fan Excuse Bingo ? Was it the exclamation mark?”

@Nick, not sure. I will check.

  • Scarps

I think if criminal minds was behind the mentalist, it could do good. Minds has been in the Wed time slot for long. It’s got to move eventually. Maybe next season cancel TGW and put Minds on Sun to help TM.

  • LisaNeedsBraces

CBS moving The Mentalist from Thursdays was a dumb move. Last year TM retained almost 100% of POI’s audience. Now POI is doing better than ever but they have a show (Elementary) that doesn’t retain those viewers. Put TM back on Thursday and put Elementary after TAR and before TGW.

  • Douglas from Brazil

60 Minutes not started at 7:30 because the game finished around 7:40pm.These overruns are crashing TGW and TM shows should be return to its old timeslots.

Nothing about that statement is true. The Mentalist did not retain Person of Interest’s lead-in, PoI is not doing better than ever, and Elementary has roughly the same retention as The Mentalist did.

Ratings from last season when Person of Interest was doing well (January – April)

    PI – 3.2, 3.2, 3.3, 3.3, 2.8, 3.1, 3.4, 3.3, 3.0 (avg 3.2)
    TM – 2.7, 3.0, 2.9, 3.0, 2.7, 2.6, 2.8, 2.7, 2.4 (avg 2.8)

Are you seriously suggesting that CBS should have put two new dramas on Sunday night?

  • Mark

Revenge and Once Upon A Time both dropped 7 tenths. ABC couldn’t of expected Revenge to hold if OUAT didn’t. Ya’ll are crazy

  • sam

cbs needs to change their sunday night lineup. I don’t know why they thought putting TM at 10pm would work.

  • American

Good for OUAT, glad because I actually wait all week for this.

  • Tom

@ Nick Re: “Wow, six boxes in Fan Excuse Bingo! Well played.”

Well, there’s a surprise! Who knew you could count to six?

  • Phill

@Sam, because Mentalist was supposed to be a hit show. But its audience has not followed it after two moves away from its protected post-NCIS slot.

  • Phill

    666 is garbage.

  • Phill

    @Nick
It has been 4 hours a week many times. ABC has fallen back on the Tue 8pm encore/reprise constantly. (Not to mention Sat encores in the spring.)

  • Robert Buckley

Give 666 a chance. It gets better. Ratings are only down because of Sunday Night Football. 666
