The Hollywood Reporter reports that Goodfellas alum Mike Star has signed on for a recurring role on Fox's freshman drama 'The Mob Doctor.'
While actor signings aren't indicative of episodes that will actually air, it does seem kind of wacky that the show seems to be plowing along in 'full-steam-ahead' mode after last Monday's abysmal 1.0 adults 18-49 rating.

Tyler is asking (in French, which I think is rude on an American board), whether the show might survive in Canada, because the ratings are quite respectable up here. The answer, of course, is no. It’s an American show, so if it gets cancelled by Fox, it doesn’t matter how well it does on CTV.

After tonight, baseball is scheduled for the next three Mondays. The next available opening is in November. I could understand why The Mob Doctor would last four episodes rather than introduce a new show for one or two episodes, then take a hiatus. I’ll be shocked if the fifth episode appears next month.

Probably just supports that while it’ll likely be canceled by episode 13 (and those all may not air) they’ll still produce them in hopes of selling them internationally, and on DVD and for streaming, etc.
My wife and I were just talking about MD. We think it’s a reasonably good show and plan to continue to watch it.

When I heard Goodfellas and “Series that should be cancelled” I thought Made in Jersey but Mob Doctor works too.
This is what happens when you don’t want announce the cancellation a low rated show. You have to keep producing episodes that will never air. And keep paying for them.
Entirely likely he was cast in the closing episodes of The Mob Doctor with a view of becoming a regular should it get renewed(Never going to happen). It wouldn’t surprise me if production of this show was virtually completed before it hit the air, with a good 8-9 episodes already filmed.
I bet he only gets a few episodes at most. Thinking perhaps, 1? 2? episodes.
