Wacky Report: 'Goodfellas' Actor Signed To Recurring Role On Series That Should Already Be Canceled

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Goodfellas alum Mike Star has signed on for a recurring role on Fox's freshman drama 'The Mob Doctor.'

While actor signings aren't indicative of episodes that will actually air,  it does seem kind of wacky that the show seems to be plowing along in 'full-steam-ahead' mode after last Monday's abysmal 1.0 adults 18-49 rating.

Et si CTV rachetait la série ? Ce serait possible ? Les scores sont plutôt corrects je crois sur CTV avec environ un peu plus d’un million de téléspectateurs.

    Oh, Canada

  • Observer

Don’t mess with the mob. Or their show.

  • TV Gord

Tyler is asking (in French, which I think is rude on an American board), whether the show might survive in Canada, because the ratings are quite respectable up here. The answer, of course, is no. It’s an American show, so if it gets cancelled by Fox, it doesn’t matter how well it does on CTV.

Lol I had such a dumb moment, I thought the series was called “The Show that Should Already Be Canceled” until I looked at the picture haha :D

  • TV Gord

LOL! That’s not a bad name for a show, CrimTV! “Right after an all-new, ‘The Show Which Must Not Be Named’!” ;-D

  • DW

but but but ,it does well L+7 CERTAIN RENEWAL!!!. :)

  • iggy

FOX don’t listen to this site??

  • Holly

FOX don’t listen to this site

Should they also ignore the fact that the CW may beat them tonight…?

  • gustavo

@TV GORD:Thank you for the french translation.

After tonight, baseball is scheduled for the next three Mondays. The next available opening is in November. I could understand why The Mob Doctor would last four episodes rather than introduce a new show for one or two episodes, then take a hiatus. I’ll be shocked if the fifth episode appears next month.

  • Contrarian

Vs Gossip Girl? LOL. No way CW beats FOX.

  • mayorofsmpleton

Probably just supports that while it’ll likely be canceled by episode 13 (and those all may not air) they’ll still produce them in hopes of selling them internationally, and on DVD and for streaming, etc.

My wife and I were just talking about MD. We think it’s a reasonably good show and plan to continue to watch it.

  • Bear

What? This show is still on the air? Mike Star? What the Hell?

  • AppleStinx

Just in time… ‘The Mob Doctor’ is like Michael Myers of ‘Halloween’. I’ll keep on watching.

  • Melanie

@Holly Do you really think that GG has that much left in the tank? It will have to get a pretty good premiere bump to get a .8 (I suppose Mob Doctor could keep falling. . . . )

  • Dan

When I heard Goodfellas and “Series that should be cancelled” I thought Made in Jersey but Mob Doctor works too.

  • EatMorePez

This is what happens when you don’t want announce the cancellation a low rated show. You have to keep producing episodes that will never air. And keep paying for them.

  • The End

Entirely likely he was cast in the closing episodes of The Mob Doctor with a view of becoming a regular should it get renewed(Never going to happen). It wouldn’t surprise me if production of this show was virtually completed before it hit the air, with a good 8-9 episodes already filmed.

I bet he only gets a few episodes at most. Thinking perhaps, 1? 2? episodes.
