New D.C. insurance mandate breaks Obama’s promise, coalition says
Washington D.C. small businesses are now required to buy health insurance plans through the government, despite complaints that it violates President Barack Obama’s promise that Americans can “keep our health care insurance if we like it” under the Affordable Care Act.
Last Wednesday, The D.C. Health Benefit Exchange Authority (HBX) unanimously voted to require all businesses in the district with 50 members or less to purchase employee health insurance plans through the exchange, despite backlash from local businesses.
Before the HBX ruling, a coalition of more than 150 small businesses and associations signed a letter arguing that the new exchange mandate undermined “President Obama’s repeated assurances that, ‘If you like your health plan .?.?. you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period.’?”
The mandate will affect 7,300 District employers who provide plans to employees — more than 125,000 people, according to a 2010 report from the D.C. Department of Health Care Finance.

MSNBC your place for NEWS!!!
As Sesame Street continues to be an unwilling participant in the political arena, MSNBC sought to bring us some more details on Wednesday morning when Chris Jansing interviewed Elmo
U.S. officer got no reply to requests for more security in Benghazi
(Reuters) – A U.S. security officer twice asked his State Department superiors for more security agents for the American mission in Benghazi months before an attack that killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans, but he got no response.
The officer, Eric Nordstrom, who was based in Tripoli until about two months before the September attack, said a State Department official, Charlene Lamb, wanted to keep the number of U.S. security personnel in Benghazi “artificially low,” according to a memo summarizing his comments to a congressional committee that was obtained by Reuters.
Nordstrom also argued for more U.S. security in Libya by citing a chronology of over 200 security incidents there from militia gunfights to bomb attacks between June 2011 and July 2012. Forty-eight of the incidents were in Benghazi.
A brief summary of Nordstrom’s October 1 interview with the Republican-controlled House Oversight and Government Reform Committee was contained in a memo prepared by the committee’s minority Democratic staff.
Nordstrom’s actions and those of his superiors are likely to figure prominently in a House committee hearing on Wednesday that will be Congress’ first public examination of what went wrong at the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi.

Grecian Formula-Gate? Accusing Romney, Deutsch Says Americans Will Lose Trust In Candidate Who Colors Hair
Don’t go there, Donny . . . Donny Deutsch has opened a can of worms—or shall we say, a carton of Clairol.
On Morning Joe today, Deutsch suggested that it looks like Mitt Romney colors his hair, and argued that Americans would lose trust in a candidate who does.

Panetta: US sends forces to Jordan
BRUSSELS (AP) — The United States has sent military troops to the Jordan-Syria border to bolster that country’s military capabilities in the event that violence escalates along its border with Syria, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Wednesday.
Speaking at a NATO conference of defense ministers in Brussels, Panetta said the U.S. has been working with Jordan to monitor chemical and biological weapons sites in Syria and also to help Jordan deal with refugees pouring over the border from Syria. The troops are also building a headquarters for themselves.
The development comes with the U.S. presidential election less than a month away, and at a time when former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee, has been criticizing President Barack Obama’s foreign policy, accusing the administration of embracing too passive a stance in the convulsive Mideast region.

Columbia Professor Mocks Columbus Day With List of ‘15 Most Overrated White People’
And this is what the dumbocrats look up to and support.
In honor of Columbus Day, Marc Lamont Hill, associate professor of English education at Columbia University, HuffPost Live host and political commentator, penned an op-ed on Monday in which he lists the “15 most overrated white people” — a very interesting way to observe the national holiday.
“Today, our nation engages in one of its most bizarre cultural rituals: the celebration of Columbus Day as a national holiday. Although history proves that Christopher Columbus was an immoral treasure hunter who merely stumbled upon a region that had already been ‘discovered’ by indigenous non-whites, we continue to praise the vicious conquistador as a hero,” Hill writes in his blog post published on the Huffington Post.
“To honor the true spirit of Columbus Day, I have created my own list of overrated white people. Of course, this list is not exhaustive, as there are countless other White people who are equally underwhelming,” he continues.
The list includes Ronald Reagan, Elvis Presley, Justin Bieber, Tim Tebow, President Obama’s economic team, William Shakespeare, Eminem and even former President Bill Clinton.
It’s not just that Hill feels he must single out “white people” in his blog post but he also insists on comparing a number of them to African-Americans, suggesting an “us against them” mentality on the issue of race.

At Harvard Law School in 1991, Obama approved of restricting speech to protect minorities
We all know Obama is an closet racist and everything in his life revolves around race, which is typical of liberals/progressives.
The 1991 Harvard Law School yearbook quoted the future President of the United States virtually shrugging his shoulders at the thought that non-liberal white students might take offense at restrictions on speech that minority students found objectionable. “I don’t see a lot of conservatives getting upset if minorities feel silenced,” Obama said, flipping the argument around.
In addition to Obama, who was by then the former Harvard Law Review editor, the panel included several prominent Harvard law professors; the American Civil Liberties Union’s legal director; Justice Stephen Breyer, who then presided over the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit; and Brian Timmons, an Obama classmate who had been the managing editor of the Harvard Journal on Law and Public Policy, which describes itself as “the nation’s leading forum for conservative and libertarian legal scholarship.”

I’m watching C-Span of the Libya /Benghazi Congressional hearing .
Just a side note:
U.S. Embassy in Libya Sought $13,000-Per-Year Bodyguards With ‘Limited’ English; But Gave Preference to Citizen ‘Same-Sex Domestic Partners’ of U.S. Gov’t Employees
In addition to the two bodyguards, the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli, Libya was also seeking a security guard, a surveillance detection specialist, a chauffeur for the consulate in Benghazi and a “Senior Guard” for the Local Guard Force working to secure the embassy.
…….*** job description also said preference would be given to the U.S. citizen “same-sex domestic partner” of a sponsoring U.S. government employee.
But Obama did send rapper Heavy D’s family a personal letter of condolence.

Sgt. Shultz is testifying on Capital Hill. I see nothing, I know nothing, I hear nothing. The State Department is circling the wagons and lying to the committee. Carney came out of his undisclosed location and repeated the lies.
This bunch calls Romney a liar.
CNN is trying to help with the cover up except Anderson Copper who was asking a number of questions about the timeline.
Go Figure!! Feds uphold voter ID law — but not for this election…
South Carolina voter ID law upheld by Federal court
WASHINGTON (AP) — A panel of three federal judges upheld a South Carolina law requiring voters to show photo identification, but delayed enforcement until next year, in a decision announced Wednesday, less than a month before this year’s presidential election.
Four Americans are dead from a September 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, and it’s becoming abundantly clear that security at the compound had been incredibly lax and that the Obama administration may have actively attempted to deceive the public about the terroristic nature of the strike in the first few days subsequent to it. A House committee is holding a hearing as I write this to get to the bottom of things
So how did the Washington Post cover the story in the Wednesday, October 10 paper? By worrying about the political impact on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Here’s how staff writer Anne Gearan opened her page A1 story headlined “Deadly Benghazi attack could mar Clinton legacy
Bon Jour
It’s 8:45pm in Paris, after recovery nap heading out on the town as this city is stunning at night. Met two very nice young ladies that currently live in Salt Lake City on the plane. One is a flight attendant the other a fitness trainer. Fitness trainer is 23 and recently had a mole removed on her arm that came back with melanoma and has spread aggressively into her lymph nodes. Beautiful young girl heading with her friend to Paris to enjoy great company and adventure for a few days. She is scheduled to have a great deal of her lymph nodes removed later this month. Cherish life and each other folks!
On that note,
@Coffee Steve thanks for update on your brother keep the info coming! Again hoping for a fast full recovery!
As to the celebrators of the 2012 elections in here, let me sadly remind you that It ain’t over yet!
Romney is the worst candidate ever chosen by the GOP. Recently changed all his positions for a 90mimute debate performance including now a new position on abort!on. As he runs to the middle it’s funny to watch the look on the conservatives faces on the news as the rug gets pulled out from under them. What’s next, He’s changing his view and gonna support President Obama? Wouldn’t surprise me!
Romney is peaking too soon 4 weeks to go an plenty of time for more of his gaffes, and secrets to undermine him, what goes up will come down especially this Romney -Ryan flip flopping candidacy of lies.
@1nancy2
Thank you Nancy about my Brother, and all of you for your concern. He is still not waking up but a little hope, he is responding and making gestures at touches. They just can’t check yet and see how much damage to his heart was done, nor the amount (if any) brain damage.
On the election, as I posted this morning, some polling is starting to see a shift to maybe a GOP Senate slight majority. @Doug Z, the report on Akin about tied with Clair (take the fed money for the hubby) was due to an GOP internal poll taken by Akins campaign and talked about on a conference call, (non-public).
Akin may not have the RNC Money but Clair isn’t liked much, as shocking as it may seem, I look for Akin to win, and with this new Money To the Hubby Scandal, it may just put Akin (The Mouth) up.
@Jeff
@Coffee Steve thanks for update on your brother keep the info coming! Again hoping for a fast full recovery!
Thanks Jeff, and remember those French women are nuts, wild, but they do make GREAT Pizza
d.d wrote about: “U.S. Embassy in Libya Sought $13,000-Per-Year Bodyguards With ‘Limited’ English; But Gave Preference to Citizen ‘Same-Sex Domestic Partners’ of U.S. Gov’t Employees”
Did anybody explain how that “qualification” would make a candidate better suited for the job?
@ Thanks Jeff, and remember those French women are nuts
Then he is in the right place to meet the perfect mate!

While single and living in new York a short while, I dated a French lady, she threw meatballs at anyone she got upset with, and pans, and salt, and you get the picture…
