    Hang it there Castle!

5 seasons and still oh so strong!

  • Chris

5 seasons of being protected with strong lead-ins and weak competition, and still OH SO WEAK. :D

  • Chris

The primary reason Castle is up a little from last week is that the syndication effect is kicking in, pretty weakly. It’s on TNT now–I haven’t seen the syndication ratings, but going by past appearances off-network, they won’t be good. TNT’s certainly not touting them, and they certainly have them by now.

We’ll see the same thing happen with H50 if it goes to syndication in a year or two. Any show that goes into primetime syndication will see a bump in ratings–HIMYM saw a HUGE bump, that is just now starting to fade. But HIMYM was in constant rotation on several channels. Castle just gets a few hours on Wednesday afternoons and evenings, and we’ll see how long TNT keeps it in primetime. Or at all. ;)

    @Chris, you’re really pathetic

In France, one of the pop reality/talent shows bought the rights to the Voice and incorporated the format into their show (Star Academmy, I think). This removes a competitor and improves the show, I presume. If only FOX/Simon Cowell had been smart enough to do that or should that be if only NBC did not have the Superbowl last time!

It’s NOT surprising at all. The shows that command higher adv rates are the younger skewing ones, the ones that do good in the 18-34 demo, see Glee and GA. They can command a premium for it, unlike the ones that perform only good in the 25-54.

That’s why Castle is a loser vs younger skewing shows with the same demo. And as Bill said, these are only estimates based on the previous year.

Since the prevailing wisdom on this site appears to be that no one watches TV under the age of 18 or over the age of 49 (so I guess I have six more years to enjoy TV), the fact Revolution is now #1 for its timeslot (and #1 scripted drama of the night) in that regard is pretty good.

  • margot

I’ll never look at another Arrow because it will be astonished and silly show! I do not like Stephen Amell is a piece of wood is too “wax”.

  • Jay

I watched the premiere of 90210 – yeah, it’s time to call it a day…

  • Kyle

You sound really pathetic at this point. Why don’t you face the fact. H50 WON’T get a bump because the Revolution has took a lot of its viewers away.

Castle has been stable no matter how much up or down its lead it does. We can take H50 who has had STRONG lead ins with Mike and Molly.mit averages around a 3-4 and yet it takes a huge nosedive. Explain?

  • Dario

In its third episode Smash did 2.4, so 3.0 for REVOLUTION

  • Justin121 re: NBC

How can they incorporate The Voice into Star Academmy?

    Two totally different shows.

I’m not sure in any way that can be legal.

  • Chris

@Kyle–dude, read my post. I don’t care what happens to H50, but when/if it goes into syndication (and the odds of that not happening are slight at this point), it will get a bump, and that’s why Castle got a bump. The timing makes it obvious. But it will fade. What’s pathetic is attacking people personally because they don’t like the same shows as you. Get a LIFE, man. :D

  • BD

I actually really like Revolution if you take it for what it is, a good Sci-Fi show that is shaping up nicely as we are learning more about the characters. The numbers going down don’t surprise me all that much since it is going head to head with MNF and MNF was a good game Monday with the Texans-Jets a battle for most of the night. I ended up watching the game Monday and Revolution On Demand last night so before we can say people are bailing on it, lets see what the DVR Numbers are.

    @ chezmoi,

No they cancelled Star Academy (also from John de Mol) and started their own The Voice called La Plus Belle Voix, the French speaking part of Canada will have their own La Voix as well. The French The Voice broke all kind of ratings records and they have already finished auditions for the 2nd cycle. Jenifer and the other coaches from the 1st season will return.

  • Parisienne

It’s safe to say that The Voice/ La Voix/ La Voz etc. is taking over the world and continues to grow while other shows like Idol/ X Factor/ Got Talent are losing audiences fast.

  • Jeff

    @chris, blah blah blah….. Fa fa fa fufufu……. What a looser….

  • ronnie

end 90210.renew RINGER pls! Pair it with Nikita on fridays-pls bring back ringer.check out ‘SAVE RINGER’ on facebook.

  • Chris

@Jeff–what an incisive response! But you really should have followed up with something like “NyahNyah!” or “So’s your old man”, to match the overall sterling quality of your debating skills. :D

  • silvit

Hawaii 5-O already has a syndication deal with TNT, like Castle. Poor TNT which paid so much for two turds. :D
