Country Stars vs. Firefighters: Battle of the 10PM Newbies (Poll)

Updated: Looks like the majority was right! Nashville debuted to a 2.8, while Chicago Fire earned a 1.9.

Tonight, two freshmen dramas will make their debut: One about a pair of dueling country superstars who want to rule the music scene, and the other about a bunch of firefighters with interpersonal issues. Nashville certainly has the edge as far as early reviews are concerned, but as we've seen with The Neighbors, reviews don't always matter, and fans of Law & Order might want to check out Chicago Fire based only on Dick Wolf's involvement.

So who gets your vote for the 10PM champ? Will you be checking out either of these new shows? Cast your vote and tell us why in the comments!

  • Jeff (Canada)

Chicago Fire will be The Mob Doctor: Hose Edition. Low ratings, quietly removed from the schedule when some Spackle becomes available.

Lady Gaga is promoting the hell out of chicago fire although nashiville is going to win only because of the huge modern family lead in

  • BL

Easy, Nashville! Chicago Fire doesn’t have a chance despite all the promotion.

  • Eridapo

Lead-in will be the key. 1-hour MF will allow Nashville to premiere with at least a 2.9.

CF without adequate lead-in will be a 2.0 show.

CSI will drop to a 2.0

  • Andrea

But Chicago Fire has the hot men! Why I’m watching ;)

  • s0303

every time i see a commercial for chicago fire, i cringe at the writing…can’t imagine how bad a whole hour of it would be…

  • Jonathan

Lady Gaga will be live tweeting with her 30 million plus followers during the show!! I guess she doesn’t wanna support her boyfriend haha

  • DenverDean

People will give Nashville a look-see, but like Revenge last year, CSI will end up on top. CF looks horrible.

  • dantas

Nashville will premiere better than Chicago Fire.

    I’m guessing,
    Nashville 2.9 – 3.3
    Chicago Fire 2.0 – 2.4

  • Agnes

Rescue Me Lite vs. Country & Western Smash? Some choice indeed…

Nashville pilot was boring. Chicago Fire looks tediously cliched. I expect both will be megahits then!!

  • EatMorePez

Nashville will crush Chicago Fire tonight primarirly because ABC is running a second episode of Modern Familiy at 9:30, guaranteeing a huge lead-in for Nashville. But I will be watching Chicago Fire.

You realize that not all 30 million of Lady Gaga’s followers live in the United States, right?

  • Ron

I think Chicago Fire might surprise people. Its that kind of show with eye candy and straightforward plotlines that could draw people in. The concern will be a weaker lead in. NBC should have premiered it Monday after the Voice.
Nashville on the other hand has strong buzz and lead in but will probably see a big drop at 1030 and in future weeks.

  • Baqinardo

Well, Gaga’s BF will do a lot of shirtless scenes. That’ll be trending topic tomorrow. lol
My guess all show will do 2s.
Low 2s for CF, middle for CSI and high for CS.
Or Low 2s for CSI wont surprise me.

  • Jonathan

    Umm… Duh! That’s still a lot of people…

  • Jennifer

Nashville. The second episode of Modern Family should do much better than the 3.2 The Neighbors did two weeks ago at 9:30, giving it a solid lead-in for at least tonight. I’m going to guess it debuts around 3.5 before settling in the mid to upper 2s Revenge was doing last fall.
SVU is a shell of its former self, especially airing at 9. I don’t expect it to pull more than 2.0 in the demo, and I doubt Chicago Fire retains that whole audience, let alone builds on it.

  • Eugenius

Nashville will premiere with more than 3.5, The Neighbors premiered with 3.3, so it will the embarrassment of the season to premiere with less than that.

  • Californiadgd

    Nashville – 3.3
    CSI – 2.3
    Chicago Fire – 2.2

  • romo

All my exes live in texas….thats why i hang my hat in tennessee.

  • Toto

Don’t understand why NBC continues to move SVU to the 9:00P hour in hopes of promoting a new show Chicago Fire in the 10:00P hour. A 14-year veteran show with a huge loyal following…doesn’t make sense to me???

  • Andrea

Watched Nashville online and it was wonderful! Should do much better than Chicago Fire due to Modern Family.
