Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    Ben and Kate deserves better, love their comedy adventures and Kate is adorable.

  • nikki

    john i didnt get serious untill i was attacked. And talked to like a child. This is tv its entertainment it should be fun. Let me see if i get this right.. because i dont agree with everyone else and i liked the secret circle my opinion doesnt matter, nor what i have to say. Im got a real serious person, as you can tell from my sarcastic jokes and comments. Youve got me all wrong.

  • The End

    Personally think it’s kinda creepy that Hope doesn’t speak in Raising Hope, shes supposed to be 3 according to the latest episodes, but doesn’t say a word besides random laughs etc.

    They need to have some random father daughter time where she actually interacts with Jimmy. I know its a sitcom but still.

    @John_M:

    Scripted shows can certainly be successful out of the blue, but it almost certainly helps shows, whether they are scripted or unscripted, if people are already watching the network. “TV” brings viewers to NBC, and this means there’s simply a greater chance of people sampling its other shows, particularly ones that follow it. This isn’t to say that this is all it takes for another show to succeed, only that could make the process far easier, with the emphasis being on “could.”

  • John_M

    @Nikki

    I didn’t say your opinion didn’t matter, not once, just that it was ludicrous (which is my opinion of your opinion) you really seem to be digging being a martyr, I mean dear god, The Secret Circle was canceled, and it was awesome, but no one appreciated it but you, and the CW was out to get it, and it must be the first time this ever happened.

  • John_M

    “TV” brings viewers to NBC, and this means there’s simply a greater chance of people sampling its other shows, particularly ones that follow it

    It means there is a greater chance they see their promos (which of course NBC doesn’t get advertising dollars for) but I don’t believe that just because more people watch The Voice it means they’re more likely to watch shows on the network unless they’re just sheep.

    It’s not a premise I buy, I’m hopeful Go ON will be successful when it isn’t following the voice – but it might not be – of course – i won’t be that upset about it if it isn’t.

    But remote controls just make it too easy to change channels (even during commercials if you watch the show live) for me to buy your premise unless there’s data to support it.

  • nikki

    im sure it wasnt the first time it d.. doesnt mean its right how they make their decisions. We can agree to disagree. I get the feeling since i wont conform like everyone else im not welcome here. And i wasnt the only one defending the secret circle or who believes the things i said. but yet im the one whos burned at the stake.

  • nikki

    john i cant imagine what you think of parenthood. Cause i think its one of the best on tv.. and im guessing your going to disagree.

  • alexis

    I wish there ‘s a blocked button here so that I skip comments from certain people.
    You may not be a teen any more, but you don’t act like an adult either. People at 40s can still be childish. Others judge because you don’t behave like a mature person. Age is irrelevant.

  • Robert

    Old Man thats good to know because then the 3 shows i watch on CW Vampire Diaries,Nikita and Supernatural would likely be done on their own terms.

  • nikki

    ive said it before and ill say it again.. dont read my comments if you dont want to. Noone is forcing you thats why you can scroll down the page to where you want. Simple.

  • Erin

    @Nikki
    You are assuming that our issue with you is that you are a fan of Secret Circle. Nope, not even a tiny part of my issue. My issue is only the glee you have at CW going down the drain. That wasn’t sarcasm on your part, in fact when I called you on it you doubled down. You are the one who assumed I was checking your behavior because I thought you were younger than me. I would have made the same comment if you were older than me. There’s know argument about it, we are close in age but I am just a bit older.

    Yeah, TV is supposed to be fun, but you should consider what you are actually rooting for when you root for a show or network to go down in flames.

  • F.R.

    CBS just canceled ‘Made in Jersey’, by the way.

  • Eridapo

    Have “The Secret Circle” posts stop. If not, I’m out till the afternoon Finals thread…

  • nikki

    Erin either way you spin it.. we dont agree. And thats fine. I have a different taste then you do, doesnt mean my taste is bad. The CW doesnt offer good tv anymore.. that was back in the early 2000′s. example gilmore girls, oth, the oc. Since then their shows are all the same as all the other networks. They used to have variety.. thats gone down the tubes.

  • John_M

    john i cant imagine what you think of parenthood. Cause i think its one of the best on tv.. and im guessing your going to disagree.

    Monica Potter is a terrible actress, and every time she was on the screen I changed the channel so I stopped watching the show.

    Parenthood was a great movie – it didn’t need to be a television show.

    Not sure why my opinion matters anyway

  • John_M

    Since then their shows are all the same as all the other networks.

    Which CW shows are ‘all the same’ as other networks

  • nikki

    john gotta agree about monica potter, but the rest of the cast and the show is great. It didnt really matter i just was curious what you thought of a good show that does well in ratings.

  • nikki

    dixie is a doctor show like all the other doctor shows on tv nowadays. And these new ones are fantasy like VD thinking they will be as good. Then theres emily owens which is another doctor show. how many doctor shows need to be on one network.

  • Brandy

    To the earlier poster asking about cws target audience, it’s w18-34,& A18-34, not w18-24 though I’m sure plenty of girls under 18 watch too.
