Could 'Beauty and the Beast' Benefit From the VP Debate Tonight?

Update: Arrow can indeed kiss it! Beauty And The Beast earned a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating last night.

Because all four major networks  have to cram our civic duty down our throats, there won't be much on TV at the 9PM hour. Well, except on The CW, which is premiering Beauty And The Beast:  a reboot of the late 80s drama featuring less cat-faced sewer people and more super-attractive twenty-somethings. But aesthetics aside, if you are looking for something on broadcast tonight that isn't a VP debate (or football, depending on where you live), Beauty And The Beast is all you got. So could this get people to tune in? Guess the premiere ratings below and tell us what you think in the comments!

A show that is going after a demo that won’t be voting, plus it is the only thing that won’t be the debate and maybe will get bump from Arrow’s big premier, also the Vampire Diaries promo looked cool and I’ve never even sceen VD

    1.1.

  • dantas

The Vampire Diaries will premiere to a 1.2, down from last year’s premiere. Beauty and the Beast will premiere to 0.9 and will drop quickly within the next few weeks, stabilizing around 0.5

  • The End

When I think of Beauty and the Beast I think of the Disney story. Hard to see beyond that really. Going for 0.7-0.9. Won’t be watching personally.

It’s after TVD so it could do 1.2 or even 1.3, but I guess it’ll do 1.0

  • Obveeus

CW will definitely benefit from the debate.
    Overnight numbers will look great.
Once the NFL game is subtracted from those numbers in Pittsburgh, the night will not look as good as it was for ARROW.

  • Bizarro

TVD- 1.1-1.3 with about 3 million viewers hopefully
BATB- 0.6-0.9 with about 2.4 million viewers

  • Jonathan

1.2 is my guess. TVD will premiere to a 1.4.

Obviously not related to this post but apparently Mockingbird Lane will air it’s pilot on Friday, October 26 along with Grimm!

I’ll be checking out Beauty and the Beast because I won’t be watching the debates tonight. I could care less..lol

I predicted Arrow would get 1.2 at the most and it got a 1.3. So I’ll stick with my 1.0 prediction of Beauty and the Beast but I think it will drop real fast in the coming weeks as the pilot was bad. Arrow’s pilot I thought was in the B-/C+ range, B&TB pilot D+.

    1.0 at the best…

Well I was planning it anyway, but maybe the debate will give it a bump. It’s the one I’m not holding much hope for. I actually like Arrow so I’ll probably stick with that for a little bit, but I’m not sure about a beast that doesn’t look much like a beast. Teen Wolf wolves and lizards look more beasty than this pretty boy. Maybe a 1.0 or 1.1 but I don’t think it will best Arrow.

Don’t forget other alternatives on the cable side: Steelers-Titans on NFL Network and MLB postseason on TBS (and TNT).

  • BG

I’m guessing 1.2 for Beauty and the Beast. I’m going to DVR it. I’ll be watching the Yankees/Orioles game tonight.

  • Mark

    The Vampire Diaries – 1.5
Beauty and the Beast – 1.1

  • Bern

Might do well cause there’s no competition on TV tonight.

  • Shabbir

Expecting a 1.4+ as it has no competition on the networks.

  • Brandy

I think it’ll do fine cause Greys(a female skewing show)isn’t on & people who don’t want to watch the debate will have something to watch, plus with VD as a leadin, and maybe people have already given up on some of thier Thursday shows( new shows especially),& this seems a bit different than CWs normal shows.1.0-1.2, after all Ringer & SC premiered at 1.2-1.3,Arrow too but then with exception of Wed Oct 10 & Oct 2-3, CW has been down and having horrible ratings

  • SPM

    I hope it fails MISERABLY
