Which New Broadcast TV Show Will Be Canceled Third? (Poll)

10/12 Update: In a turn of events that wasn't anticipated by the Cancellation Bear, NBC sitcom Next Caller was canceled prior to being aired! So, while this poll began as "What show will be canceled second?", it's now "What show will be canceled third?". It's the same poll with all the earlier votes already in it, just with a different number in the title.

Alhough it came in a distant sixth in our initial "Who'll be canceled first" poll, Made In Jersey was indeed the first show of the season to be cancelled.

Which show will be next on the menu of the Cancellation Bear?

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

Because comment thread lawyers are everywhere, let's be clear that for the purposes of this poll "canceled" means removed from its initially scheduled timeslot, either off the air entirely or rescheduled to a burn off timeslot, even if the network *claims* the show will return later (two seasons ago those who answered The Whole Truth in the "next to be canceled" poll ended up being correct, it was removed first among the shows noted and never returned, despite initial ABC claims to the contrary).

What's your guess?

While this poll allows just one answer per person, feel free to expand your choices in the comments.

I went with Animal Practice because there are plenty of replacements and because Fox has had reasons to cancel Mob Doctor ever since it premiered, but has yet to do so or make any signs that it will do so. It’s one or the other though, I don’t know. I think ABC’s shows are all too close to each others for them to cancel anything until January (I predict all of them survive November sweeps), but Last Resort’s rating tonight will be telling. As it is, Castle-Scandal-LastResort-666ParkAvenue are all in a pretty tight pack (I give Castle an hedge though, for a number of reasons, not necessarily ratings), so I think they will wait for more data points. There really is no reason to have much urgency in canceling one over the other. As for Partners, its possible yes. I think its in the run with AP and MB, but I see these two being out first.

    Mob Doctor

  • spycomics

I think Chicago Fire will be D.O.A.

  • Tyson

Animal Practice. Losing heads-up to a CW show spells automatic cancellation. If that’s not a rule, it should be a rule.

  • MADGE

Vision of Love will be cancelled first and you forgot to add it

  • spycomics

Should’ve looked at Chicago Fire premiere numbers before commenting. Better than I thought, and though it won’t last, it won’t be next cancelled either. Animal Practice.

  • The End

Eventually I think my The Neighbors prediction will come true. Wondering how long it’l be though, I do think I’ll be seeing it with 1-2 smileys on your renew/cancellation index eventually.

I think Mob Doctor is done decently. Sure its got a terrible name, ratings, timeslot and premise but I don’t think it will be cancelled next. Probably Partners next, I don’t see NBC letting that Monkey go yet. ;)

666 is doing bad though, and so is The Neighbors.

@Tyson, I love your rule! Personally, I think Mob Doctor deserves to be cancelled more, but I’m picking Partners. It’s too bad because I loved David Krumholtz in Numb3rs and was hoping he would land in another good show.

  • Tim

    The Mob Doctor

And then, unfortunately, Animal Practice, I enjoy it.

As for after AP, either 666 Park Avenue or Partners.

  • joel

The soonest to be cancelled after it’s premiere date will be Malibu Country, but the chronologically next cancellation will be Partners.

Animal Practice should be cancelled next. NBC has to many comedies waiting in the wings not to simply admit defeat with this loser. Animal Practice was beaten by Arrow. Whitney needs to return back to the air soon and it would give Guy with Kids the best chance of succeeding. Whitney should be able to at least garner high 1′s. If Animal Practice continues it could dip below 1.0.

“Vision of Love will be cancelled first and you forgot to add it”

This is limited to broadcast primetime scripted shows.

  • Networkman

I was actually surprised that I saw ABC advertising the return of Happy Endings and Don’t Trust the B… for Tuesday, Oct.23. I thought they would delay these premieres and see if any other timeslot would be available. I also figured ABC would be smart enough to know that DWTS:results should remain @9pm. Nashville may be more suitable on Sunday @10pm. ABC could of thought about 3 hours of comedy on Wednesday.

    Wednesday
    8pm The Middle
    8:30 The Neighbors
    9pm Modern Family
    9:30 Suburgatory
    10pm Happy Endings
    10:30 Don’t Trust the B…

I think this would be great counterprogramming and if the comedies could possibly retain over 2.0 demo it would beat out NBC’s Chicago Fire.

  • Declan

Looks the the Cancellation Bear won’t have to worry about starving for a while. Half those shows on the list are going to be axed by the time November sweeps start.

  • Dan S

After successfully picking MIJ as the 1st casualty my 2nd pick is AP. Fox is holding off on Mob Dr & AP got beat by the CW so I expect an announcent in 3,2,1…..

  • Frustrated

The New Normal should be the first to go…regardless that NBC jumped to early and picked it up for a full season. Although I am a complete liberal and agree with its political/social views, it is the worst written and acted. So over the top in a NOT funny way. Next …Guys with Kids. Not funny at all. Have not seen Mob Doctor but I actually like Animal Practice. Cheesy, yes, but still funny.

  • Pepper

Animal Practice is next. Chicago Fire, Mob Doctor, and that 666 show will also be eaten by the bear soon after

  • vern

    Animal Practice.

  • Hugo Manso

    @Frustated

How on earth should The New Normal be the first one to go when is the Top scripted show on NBC after Revolution, Go On and The Office????

This is not about tastes or quality is about numers and TNN’s ones are saying: TNN Stays.
