Which New Broadcast TV Show Will Be Canceled Third? (Poll)

10/12 Update: In a turn of events that wasn't anticipated by the Cancellation Bear, NBC sitcom Next Caller was canceled prior to being aired! So, while this poll began as "What show will be canceled second?", it's now "What show will be canceled third?". It's the same poll with all the earlier votes already in it, just with a different number in the title.

Alhough it came in a distant sixth in our initial "Who'll be canceled first" poll, Made In Jersey was indeed the first show of the season to be cancelled.

Which show will be next on the menu of the Cancellation Bear?

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

Because comment thread lawyers are everywhere, let's be clear that for the purposes of this poll "canceled" means removed from its initially scheduled timeslot, either off the air entirely or rescheduled to a burn off timeslot, even if the network *claims* the show will return later (two seasons ago those who answered The Whole Truth in the "next to be canceled" poll ended up being correct, it was removed first among the shows noted and never returned, despite initial ABC claims to the contrary).

What's your guess?

While this poll allows just one answer per person, feel free to expand your choices in the comments.

@Bill – No Ordinary Family was cut to 20 episodes in 2011 after given 22 and both Kath & Kim and Knight Rider only got 17 episodes after NBC initially committed to 22 of each.

The cancellation bear is carnivorous, which is why he will pray on the Animal Practice next. If the CW beats you, than you know you’re show is in trouble. I don’t think that NBC will cancel Guys With Kids though because it does build on AP. Its possible They will pair it with Whitney on Wednesdays but GWK is unlikely to last past the 13 episode order.

Partners is this years A Gifted Man and since CBS already axed Made in Jersey they wont cancel Partners this soon as well. However I’m sure its done after it finishes airing its episode order.

The Mob Doctor will likely be pulled after its November 5 airing, though at this point I wouldn’t be surprised if FOX just burned through the 13 episode order.

Last Resort may be axed if it doesn’t perform up to par tonight, though with no new breakout hits this year, ABC may be reluctant to pull Last Resort this soon. I expect it to air through November and maybe finish airing its 13 episode order, however a full season is unlikely. 666 Park Avenue will probably get The Bridge treatment (More episodes leading to a cancellation) like A Gifted Man, The Forgotten and Detroit 187 got.

My point is, All the shows that recieved full seasons, will likely air all of their ordered episodes.

CBS isn’t cancelling anymore shows this fall
ABC may wait until November to avoid bad PR and to let their new shows air a few more eps
FOX will wait until November 6 (the earliest)
NBC has both Community and Whitney waiting

Animal Practice is next to go

@Dan “@Bill – Has there ever been a time where a network has given a new show a full season pick up only to cancel said pick up or decrease the number of episodes?”

A few years ago NBC picked up Southland for a 2nd season but cancelled it 2 weeks before it was supposed to premiere so Leno could go to primetime. That worked out well for everyone as you may recall…. Luckily for Southland TNT picked them up, where I’m sure they are much happier since they can make the show as gritty as it was intended.

    @The Old Man – Hilarious!!!!

While Mob Doctor or Animal Practice may seem like easy choices, I’m still going to Partners.

When you look at the overall ratings for the show, people are consistently tuning out after How I Met Your Mother (when Partners comes on), and then tuning BACK when 2 Broke Girls begins. So they are making the conscious choice to leave CBS for that half hour, despite strong shows surrounding the newcomer. For a new show on a network like CBS, that should be a death knell.

  • Dan

@Chris – If CBS didn’t just cancel a show, and Partners wasn’t CBS’ only new fall comedy, let alone it being on monday, I’d agree with you but CBS hasn’t cancelled a monday comedy in the fall in over 12 years, maybe even longer. Even though Partners numbers are garbage, I don’t expect CBS to pull it.

I knew there were folks out there with better memories than I have!

Can any of the know it all’s on this site please tell my why fox would wait until after baseball to cancel mob dr – when they would be spending 2.5 mil an episode for atleast 2 more episodes by the time nov 5th comes ? All the while no episode will be shown and no ratings will be gathered ! By that time they should be on ep #9 – think about it people before you start texting !! Lets face it you were all wrong ! Admit it !

Most of the shows on the list stink, but the stinkiest of all is not on the list. The x factor, needs to go,such an American idol rip-off.

  • Katie

Honestly how can have a poll for people to vote which show will be cancelled next when quite a few of them have only had one or two episodes and a couple haven’t even started yet. Judging a show that hasn’t even premiered is funny and I don’t know how people can judge shows and how they will do after one or two episodes as well.

When was the last time CBS’ two highest rated comedies were not airing on Mondays?

They have two comedies waiting to replace Partners, they’re not going to stick with it through November.

There’s an off week coming up and Rules of Engagement is filming – I expect CBS to pull Partners next week and premiere Rules either 29 October or 5 November.

I don’t know how people can judge shows and how they will do after one or two episodes as well.

    Experience?

There’s a handful of shows every year that do so poorly in their first episode or two that it’s obvious that they will be canceled.

Some of those shows don’t even air a third episode (e.g. Made in Jersey, Work It).

  • Ultima

    @Declan
Half those shows on the list are going to be axed by the time November sweeps start.

You’re completely delusional if you think anywhere close to half of those shows are going to be canceled in the next two weeks.

  • NJ Viewer

Since so many of these new shows are doing badly, it makes you wonder what the networks passed on.

Animal Practice, Partners or Mob Doctor.

Everything will at least make it to mid season.

CW wont cancel any shows until the end of the season or at least without airing all episodes this season.

-666 13 episodes and be done
-Nashville will make it to the end of the season at least
-Last Resort will make it at least 13 episodes
-The Neighbours will get a full season
    -Malibu County 13 episodes

    -Chicago Fire a full season
    -Animal Practice canelled soon
-Guys with kids makes it till mid season at least depending on whether they can pair it with Whitney quick enough

    -Partners cancelled soon
    -Elelmentary full season
    -Vegas at least 13 episodes

    -Mob Doctor cancelled soon

  • Dan

@Hades – I agree with all of your ABC guesses though Is till belive 666 will get “additional episodes”

@Ultima – When you move Two and a Half Men to Thursdays how can you not expect to have the two highest rated comedies not on Mondays. CBS did that to help Person of Interest and because they could not find a compatible Big Bang Theory lead out. CBS basically sacrificed Mondays and did a gamble by moving 2 Broke Girls to Mondays at 9. They may have done that a bit to soon and that combined with The Voice competition are crushing CBS comedies. I expect Partners to air through November, but I don’t see CBS replacing it with Rules until at least January.

Logic says Mob Doctor, but Logic also says it should have been cancelled weeks ago. I think Animal Practice
