Which New Broadcast TV Show Will Be Canceled Third? (Poll)

10/12 Update: In a turn of events that wasn't anticipated by the Cancellation Bear, NBC sitcom Next Caller was canceled prior to being aired! So, while this poll began as "What show will be canceled second?", it's now "What show will be canceled third?". It's the same poll with all the earlier votes already in it, just with a different number in the title.

Alhough it came in a distant sixth in our initial "Who'll be canceled first" poll, Made In Jersey was indeed the first show of the season to be cancelled.

Which show will be next on the menu of the Cancellation Bear?

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

Because comment thread lawyers are everywhere, let's be clear that for the purposes of this poll "canceled" means removed from its initially scheduled timeslot, either off the air entirely or rescheduled to a burn off timeslot, even if the network *claims* the show will return later (two seasons ago those who answered The Whole Truth in the "next to be canceled" poll ended up being correct, it was removed first among the shows noted and never returned, despite initial ABC claims to the contrary).

What's your guess?

While this poll allows just one answer per person, feel free to expand your choices in the comments.

I wonder if FOX will offically cancel the most deserving show to be cancelled, The Mob Doctor.

  • Dan

Anyone who says Mob Doctor, remember the next episode is scheduled for November 5 and that episode will air on that date. So thats three weeks at least before that series gets axed. A good amount of shows could still be cancelled by then.

  • Sia

Arrow won’t get canceled. CW hasn’t seen high numbers like for years !

  • Luan

Mob Doctor will survive because of MLB. It will be canceled, but not the 2nd show to be canceled. Look for NBC’s shows on Wednesday… Community and Whitney are waiting…

  • Mikey

    Definitely The Mob Doctor.

  • tazzer68

The Neighbours!!! Please!!!! Cancel this horrific show for the love of G-D!!!

  • Honey Badger

I have questions. Obviously NBC has a lot of cancellations to do. Since they already ordered a zillion replacements. Will NBC cancel a lot of shows on the same day, or will they space the cancelations out?

Also since November Sweeps are coming up and ratings = revenue and the networks lose a lot of money on low rated shows. Wouldn’t it be smart for NBC to cancel and replace all their low rated shows now, so they could get promotion for the new shows before November sweeps?

  • The Yipster

Well I said Mob Doctor would be the first to go, so now I think it’ll be the second. If not, I’m thinking Animal Practice or maybe even 666 Park Ave.

The next episode of Made in Jersey was scheduled for tonight, how did that work out?

I had originally picked Partners to be the first show to get the axe, but since it was Made In Jersey, I highly doubt that CBS wants to have the first AND second cancelled shows of the season.

So now I’ll go with Animal Practice. Getting beat by a CW show is NOT a good look.

After its new .3 drop to 1.3 this week, I’m going with Last Resort. It’s a disaster and is going to be canceled sooner rather than later.

You are right, a lot of NBC shows are being beat by CW shows, very alarming.

Animal Practice, 30 Rock, Up All Night, Guys With Kids, etc. all beat in ratings by CW

Oh how I miss these polls. Thank you, Fall Season, for coming back to us! Animal Practice, then Mob Doctor, then 666 Park if I had to guess. After that, no clue. I wanted to like 666 Park but never even watched it due to the dismal ratings it received. Not going to get involved in a disaster with no life expectancy.

Out of curiosity why is Revolution even on this list? You guys have it as a lock for renewal in renew/cancel…

  • http://tvbythenumbers.com Robert Seidman

@Stephen: because ALL new shows that have aired other than the canceled Made in Jersey are on the list.

“After its new .3 drop to 1.3 this week, I’m going with Last Resort. It’s a disaster and is going to be canceled sooner rather than later.”

Last season, Charlie’s Angels lasted 7 episodes with an even steeper decline curve than LR. It went 2.1, 1.5, 1.2, 1.3, 1.3, 1.2, 1.1 [yank]

Two seasons ago [Gunsmoke rule violation!] My Generation went 1.6, 1.1 [yank] in that slot.

Considering that LR is doing better than Charlie’s Angels, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it goes 13.

Last Resort feels a lot more like a slightly worse ratings Pan Am, which lasted 14 episodes, going 3.1, 2.6,1.9,1.8,1.8,1.8,1.7,1.8,1.5,1.3,1.2,1.2,0.7,1.2 [yank]

Deadline is reporting the cancelation of Next Caller. So even though that’s technically not a fall show, it’s a new season show and it’s canceled, so that would make it the second cancelation, following Made in Jersey. Who would have thought?

  • were123

In an unpredictable turn of events, Mid season comedy “Next Caller” was the second cancellation, who would’ve though it?

What is going on at NBC?
They cancel ‘Mockingbird Lane’ series and downgrad to NBC Halloween Special
They cancel the series “Next Caller” before it airs.

Why did NBC cancel “Mockingbird” ?
It had good stars – Jerry O’Connell as Herman Munster, Portia de Rossi as his wife Lily and Eddie Izzard as Grandpa.

‘Mockingbird Lane’ series downgraded to NBC Halloween Special
NBC’s rebooted Munsters series “Mockingbird Lane” will air as a Halloween special on Friday, Oct. 26 at 8/7 before their megahit supernatrural drama “Grimm,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

THR reports that the creatives behind the scenes “had different visions” for the $10 million pilot, and the net result was the network did not have the confdence to proceed with “Mockingbird” as a series

    What The Heck?
I was looking forward to this series.

    NBC is one strange network.
Hopefully another network will pick up Mockingbird Lane as a series.

If the NBC executives were replaced by the Cancellation Bear , NBC would be in better shape.
Animal Practice, 30 Rock, Up All Night, Guys With Kids, etc. all with very low ratings and getting beat in ratings by CW would be canceled. And Rock Center would have been cancelled long ago.
Who would have thought Jay Leno primetime would have had better ratings than so many NBC prime time shows
