@Honey Badger
The X Factor is a very expensive show with the judges and Simon’s salary.
… At what ratings does this show become unprofitable?
The X Factor is cheaper than scripted programming and pulls in significantly higher ratings.
It would have to drop pretty far, relative to the rest of FOX, for it to be in any danger. It’s only down ~15% year-to-year right now, making it look really good compared to FOX’s scritped programs.
Considering Pittsburgh consistently gets 60 shares for Steelers games on CBS, FOX, or NBC I do think there was a huge split between the CW and NFLN audiences in the city watching the game.
Beauty and the Beast did surprisingly well for The CW.
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY CONCERNING THOUGH:
NBC Up All Night 1.1 3 2.88
It’s pretty simple right now that Animal Practice and Up All Night have to go next week so they minus well announce that Whitney is taking over Wednesdays at 8pm and Community is taking over either at 8pm or 8:30pm on Thursdays.
I don’t have the NFL network so….VD wasn’t even shown in my area LOL the football game was THANK GOD!
@Steve
Or Desperate Housewives. Both those shows were trash IMO and yet they weren’t on The CW
Pha !
DH is the best show ever you stupid cow !
@Holly
More like 6-8, depending on where they are in the season. Supernatural, for example, is filming its last episode of 2012, 8.09 starting this week, which is about six weeks ahead. But it filmed episodes 8.03 and 8.01 back in the first half of July, which was about ten weeks before the premiere. Some of it depends on the length of primary filming (SPN films for eight days per episode) and how much post-production occurs (SPN has a fair bit, but it got rid of its second unit years ago, so that probably speeds things up).
@ Ultima
Thank You
What a roller coaster ride this past week has been for the CW. It went from four shows at 0.4 and 0.5 to four shows between 1.0 to 1.6. I bet the network execs went from wringing their ties to wearing them around their foreheads party-style.
@Joss maybe the early sesason of Desperate Housewife weren’t so bad but it got pretty ridiculous in the later season. Im sorry if you don’t agree but that is my opinion and it will never be swayed. Grey’s might have started out well as well but now its not more than a soap opera.
I loved early days of ER and i can admit that later on it turned into trash at times as well. It happens when shows air to long.
All TSC fans can’t grasp that the show was cancelled because it wasn’t bringing in the ratings. Television is a business, and when a TV Show (product) isn’t selling or justify it’s costs in-order for more production, then it is only logical that the show/product gets shelved.
Im shocked we dont have more bitter Secret Circle fans here. 1 or 2 is a lot less than i thought.
Kind of surprised you guys didnt post a ‘guess the fringe ratings poll’
Very good numbers for TVD. Honestly I’m impressed, even with preemptions it did not adjust down.
The numbers for Beauty and the Beast are also very good but I don’t know if it can hold them. I watched it and it was nothing special. For CW’s sake I hope it doesn’t go down in flames.
@Wilson
What you saw was them filming portions for next season. BatB is already in production for season two after an early renewal announcement. (1)

(1) The preceding answer was designed solely to see SPMs’ head explode.
Pitiful ratings for Flop Factor. I thought people said the ratings would grow after a few weeks.
The Vampire Diaries being up vs. last year’s premiere is very good! It is going to be a good season for them. Congrats to The CW for beating NBC and tying ABC at 8pm!
Good premiere for BatB! But will surely go down.
The ratings for the season premier of vampire diaries were on par with last season, good on them.
glad to see beauty and the beast got adjusted down.. i saw that coming a mile away. and when it dips to 0.6 next week it will have one of the biggest drops. The Secret Circle was better. It premiered better, kept its viewers.. but beauty wont. Did anyone see the reviews.. the show is terrible.
NBC fifth again.
Yes!! The Vampire Diaries, just outscored Arrow in 18-49 while in highest rated show mantle sharing it scoring more in absolute viewers. Monday’s lineup Gossip Girl/90120 are now fully exposed as the weakest.
This is great that plot heavy/character centric series is this strong, ensuring continued episodes. The test for BaTB next week is seeing if it can maintain those ratings after the best lead in on the network.
Mark Pedowitz must be estatic.
@nikki
So, are you yet another cray-cray TSC fan or someone trying to rile everybody by pretending to be yet another cray-cray TSC fan (which is its own, special kind of cray-cray)?
It’s no biggie to me one way or the other. I just like to keep track.
