Not bad for TVD and B&TB. Looks like people do watch the CW, two wonderful nights in a row.
@ John M
Good to know since the extatic post wasn’t mine.
GREAT for TVD.
And we all know BatB won’t keep these numbers. It’s going to end up falling and then it’ll get canned. True story.
YAY i knew it! no adjustment! Really Greaaattt week! tvd is STRONG as in season 2 premiere!! that’s amaaazing! the show finale was so much great that they increase gtheir ratings by a 0.4 ! 30 % UUUppppp! this week was so much great! parenthood arrow and now tvd’s numbers! great result for b&b too. great night for cw. thanks tvd’s fans!!
@Eradipo: I haven’t seen last night’s cable numbers yet, though I did see some early viewer #s for NFLN game (5.7M vs. 6.4M for last week’s game).
WOW! CW can beat NBC and tie ABC! They must be ecstatic with TVD’s ratings, rising from the previous season premiere is something I never imagined, it’s got a long way to fall before being in danger of cancellation, and it was facing full competition! CW must also be happy with B&TB considering anything above 0.6 is good for them nowadays!
@John M I am sorry for my dreadful spelling error. Not really sure why you felt the need to reply to me about it, I would have thought you may have had something more interesting to talk about, like perhaps, ratings? But yes, just for you, I shall try being ‘ecstatic’ instead =) I have also double checked my spellings in this comment, just to avoid causing you further offense and inconvenience =)
@John_M
Can’t they also be fans of HBO, SHO, AMC, ABC, CBS, NBC, etc.? I doubt most of them only like the CW or ABC Family.
They move Gossip Girl to Fridays and try Nikita on another night cause it is clearly shows like that which are popular on the CW
Lol, some people are acting as if TVD never goes above a 1.0. The show has yet to go below a 1.0, since it started in 2009. Definitely a strong season premiere!
@Rachel
Oh I can talk about so many interesting things, but I’d hate for you to get lost
TVD still CW no 1 show. Made Arrow look like a joke. No offense Arrow fans
Noooo!!!!!!!! Up all Night!!!!!! >.<
TVD and BATB both down alot in viewers. TVD from 3.4 to 3.1 million and BATB from 3.1 down to 2.7 million. Great job for both shows and great job to the CW on the night. As i said before will alot of the people come back next week to watch the shows again. That is the big question.
Amanda, I meant to ask this earlier, but shouldn’t The Vampire Diaries be listed before Last Resort? TVD has a share of 5 as opposed to LR’s share of 4, which if i am not mistaken, should mean that TVD marginally outperformed LR, and not the other way around.
That’s incredible for Vampire Diaries. With the CW’s lackluster results I expected it to go down to as low as a 0.9.
I guess Elena turning into a vampire was a big event for the fandom.
BAB did better than I expected.
Both CW hours beat or tied NBC’s 8pm. Up All Night is dead.
Four CW shows hit a +1.0 rating (who would’ve thought?) and the other CW shows got 0.4s and 0.5. Since this is premiere week I’ll reserve judjment.
I think Last Resorters have settled on “strong +3/+7 numbers.” Because advertisers are so very interested in the viewer numbers of people who zap through ever ad…
How can the post-debate analysis numbers be any kind of meaningful, mixing 10:30 East Coast viewers with 7:30 West Coast ones?
Wow, now I can comment. The Vampire Diaries!!! That’s just incredible! I thought the show had peaked. Also, Beauty and the Beast did waaaaay better than i thought it would. Still think it will fall though. Very sad for the last resort though :S
@John_M and Marcelo
Completely different cases. First of all, Friends, Cheers and Seinfeld all had weak seasons. Second of all, they were comedies, so they didn’t have to worry about coming up with complex story arcs like TVD does. All they had to worry about was coming up with jokes.
I never watched Hill Street Blues, so I might be wrong, but I assume it was a procedural, right? If so, then my point is the same. The Vampire Diaries cannot run for 10 seasons. It’s a show without any formula, which burns through plot like no show I’ve ever seen on television.
